Lane cedar-lined hope chest with lock and key. All original in excellent condition. Cedar is still aromatic. Style number 8809-50 and serial number 957270. Overall dimensions are 27 inches high. 47 inches long and 17 1/2 inches deep. Unit has two compartments. Main compartment is the cedar lined chest with inside dimensions of 28 1/2 inches wide, 15 1/2 inches deep and 16 inches high. Second compartment has 25 inch outside highet from the floor and has 3 vertical and removable dividers. This second compartment was probably intended for phonograph record storage. Inside dimenstions of second compartment are 14 1/2 inches wide, 16 inches deep and 15 1/2 inches high. Exterior finish is in excellent condition with minor blemishes on main lid top. Two minor paint scrape marks in lower left hand corner will rub out with 0000 steel wool and furniture ... morepolish/oil. Am leaving as-is so new owner can select polish/oil as desired. Important safety notice: lock catch will be removed and given to buyer at time of pick up. A replacment saftey lock adapter for the cedar storage area has been ordered from the Lane Comapany and will be given to the buyer.

Mid Century Victorian Style Embossed Tin Chest
Here we have a mid-century Victorian Style Embossed tin chest. Attention to detail is all here. This is a beautiful brass finish tin on wood chest. Not sure where it's from. It is gold inside. It has a small separation on the inside of lid. As seen in photos. I think they just didn't have enough gold paint to cover or the factory was in a hurry. This chest measures 12 in. long, 7 7/8 In. wide& 8 3/4 in. tall. This is a nice example of Victorian style of embossed tin chest. This would make a fine addition to ones collection. This is a beautiful mid century maple two door cedar cabinet by Lane dated November. 1955. PLEASE NOTE: the pictures were taken in bright sunlight and came out a bit too light and orange in color.the cedar cabinet has a warm maple tone and is slightly darker than shown. The cabinet features shutter and paneled style doors with brass pulls that open to a solid cedar interior. The interior has two quality sliding beveled drawers with side handles. I have seen these sliding drawers on previous listings but they were just flat(no sides) and did not have the design and quality that these do. This would be great for sweaters. Blankets, etc. This heavy cabinet measures 34" by 17" and stands 31 1/2" tall and is in excellent condition for its age with minimal wear. This piece came from a non-smoking home& has a great cedar smell when the lid is opened. There is no key for the lock. The chest is solid. There is a small piece of veneer missing from the back of the lid on the left side(photo 12) some discoloration on the same side rear leg(13) discoloration + loose veneer on the back left above that leg(14& 15) The felt in the bottom drawer has a couple of bare areas- can not tell what caused this. Light scuffing on the finish, but in pretty nice condition for being over 50 years old. This may be picked up in person at our office or it can be picked up by a freight carrier of your choice.
