Vtg Shabby Old World Italian Style Flower Bouquets Bows Rich Hues Painted Chest
Vintage Hand Painted French Or Italian Style two drawer chest or commode ~ this chest has the most lovely Old World Feel to it because it is painted in the most beautiful rich tones of color on a deep beige golden background and it has all of the curves but creates an elegance but not a daintiness appeal ~ a drop dead gorgeous bouquet of flowers is painted in the front center extending over the two large drawers and there is an equally as lovely bouquet painted on each side ~ the bouquets are filled with many meadow flowers and the theme appears to be a deep blue in between a teal and a blue with a deep mauve rose. Off white daisy type flowers, wisps of lilac flowers, thing greenery tied with a darker blue toned with light blue center ribbon in the front bouquet and a rich tone of deep pink ribbon on the side bouquets ~ the center carving ... moredips lower and has a blue teal floral design as does the sides of the front doors- these smaller designs are quite lovely but they only accentuate the beauty of the large bouquets ~ there are two large handles on each drawer and decorative keyhole designs all a dark bronze color and metal ~ the top is very curvy and is faux painted in a medium tan tone with darker painted veining running throughout characteristic of many beautiful hand decorated pieces from the 1950's time period. There are some scratches in the top wood piece which is faux painted but nothing detracting ~ there is an area where a crack seems to be wanting to form as shown in my photo at the top right side of a drawer ~ other than that. There is the typical slight chippiness to sides and feet area but this is the look and the painting is vibrant and gorgeous on the piece and nothing detracts from it's unique loveliness! It's got pressed cedar walls by G&K Giles& Kendall of Huntsville, AL(sticker is dated 1979) There is some damage to the wicker, but overall the trunk is in fair to good condition. One wall is separating from the floor- it can be easily fixed by gluing, or tapping short nails or staples in between the current ones. It has nice brass corner guards with textured rivets- the closure and hinges are also brass. Someone has mangled the closure a bit but functionality has not been compromised. Classic 1950's wooden bench chest. Covered in pink vinyl with goldish green spots. Interior of chest is cedar and still has that lovely cedar smell. Lid, which is held up by sliding iron latch, is padded and upholstered in matching pink vinyl, bound in gold around edges, with large button in center. Because of color and vinyl exterior, we believe chest was designed for use in bathroom and, in fact, was used there by elderly family member to hold her towels and other linens ever since we can remember. It has four dings on the top. These places could be filled with a burn in stick or a well placed phone and lamp could hide these spots. There is a white substance where the feet attach to the chest. If there has been a break in the marble, it has been repaired and the repair may be visible. There may be minor restoration that is visible. Chairs considered'good condition' may have professional structural repairs but are considered to be structurally sound. These types of repairs may be visible upon close inspection.
