It has a moulded cornice above two cupboard doors with a key and working lock. The doors have raised fielded panels with moulded edges and the interior has the original oak back boards with oak pegs(a hanging rail has been fitted at a later date. The lower section has a moulded edge above three working and three dummy drawers at the top which hide the inside recess. DESCRIPTION: This is a wonderful Georgian oak and mahogany cross banded bow fronted corner cupboard. It has been made out of solid oak with mahogany cross banding which is a wonderful rich colour and a fantastic patina. Which can only be gained through age. The cupboard would look fantastic in any room you choose to hang it in. The corner cupboard has two bow fronted doors which is complete with it's original lock(which has been photographed separately) and key which is fully working. There is a lovely brass escutcheon to each ... moreof the doors. The doors have lovely mahogany cross banded with lovely shaped detailing to the corners of the doors which sets them off beautifully. The doors open to reveal three shelves. The left door is held in place by a superb original hook. The top is finished off superbly with a nicely shaped cornice and there is a lovely shaped molding to the base. The front to this cupboard is wonderful. From the photographs you can see just how stunning the patina is. DIMENSIONS: The approximate dimensions are: 25.25 inches(measured from corner to corner) 17.25 inches along wall(this is the distance it would come out along the wall measured from the corner) 39.5 inches high. Also the approximate distance between the shelves going from top to bottom is: top 7 inches. 2nd 7.5 inches, 3rd 9 and bottom 12 inches. As can be seen from the above dimensions this corner cupboard is of lovely proportions. AGE: The corner cupboard is GEORGE III and dates to circa 1780/ 1800. RARE ANTIQUE GEORGIAN CHIPPENDALE CIRCA 1780'S LINEN PRESS VITO BELL COLLECTION We have sold a few items from this collection. This particular piece was purchased about 25 years ago from a highly regarded antique dealer in New York(card showing) Size: 51.5" wide at the top moldings. 49.5" wide at the base, 23.25" deep and 73" high. Primary wood is richly figured Honduran mahogany with the use of a pine secondary wood. The upper case doors are all nicely hand chamfered paneled mahogany. The drawers are hand dovetailed. Has three(3) interior sliding drawers(showing only two) This fine piece is unusual for two reasons: one the straight leg base on an antique linen press is rare to find and secondly the age of this piece is not common(most found are from the early 1800's) among early Linen Presses. A very lovely, yet ... moresimplistic and elegant form. The piece has a few flaws. There are single cracks on two of the interior drawer fronts that can be easily repaired. Hardware appears to be original with exception of the lock which may be a later replacement. There are old age cracks to side panels, small patched repair and one side showing a dark blemish as shown. Overall, a clean piece that is fresh to the market and rare in form. This beautiful example in good condition with a fine rich patina has a small cornice over three short frieze drawers each with brass swan neck handles above two large fielded panel doors enclosing hanging space being raised atop stile end feet. Each of the cupboard doors are finished with good brass H shaped hinged and fielded panels as are the sides. This particular piece was purchased about 25 years ago from a highly regarded antique dealer in New York(card showing) Size: 51.5" wide at the top moldings. 49.5" wide at the base, 23.25" deep and 73" high. Primary wood is richly figured Honduran mahogany with the use of a pine secondary wood. The upper case doors are all nicely hand chamfered paneled mahogany. The drawers are hand dovetailed. Has three(3) interior sliding drawers(showing only two) This fine piece is unusual for two reasons: one the straight leg base on an antique linen press is rare to find and secondly the age of this piece is not common(most found are from the early 1800's) among early Linen Presses. A very ... morelovely, yet simplistic and elegant form. The piece has a few flaws. There are single cracks on two of the interior drawer fronts that can be easily repaired. Hardware appears to be original with exception of the lock which may be a later replacement. Antique 18th c English inlaid linen press armoire drawers wardrobe Georgian
An 18th century English linen press in figured walnut. It measures approximately 85" tall. The widest point is at the top molding- about 52" wide. The deepest part is also at the top molding- about 20-1/8" deep. At the mid-point down. It is about 50" wide and 18.75" deep. We do not know the maker. There is overall normal surface wear commensurate with age and use, including some dings and scratches as they are found commonly on antique furniture. The top molding in particular has splitting and drying due to age. We believe the hardware is original, and the key is included. Most of the original glue bucks are intact as well. The structural integrity is good and there are no major problems. The piece does break down into two pieces for easier transport. Georgian 1790 Antique English Hanging Cupboard or Corner Cabinet. An authentic Georgian period hanging corner cabinet dates from about 1790. This beautiful cabinet was hand crafted in England of solid mahogany with delicate inlaid satinwood stringing or banding. The door panel is a single wide plank of figured mahogany. Hand chamfered or raised on the back. There is a shrinkage separation from age, see photos. Hand planing marks can be felt everywhere on this antique furniture. Hand wrought rose cut nail heads are visible on the back. A key works the wrought iron lock. Dimensions are 30 1/2" across the crown. 44 1/2" tall and the sides are 21" from the corner of the wall to the front tip of the crown.
