CONDITION NOTES: The rear cloth along the back hinge is split along its entire length. Leaving the spine board flapping-this does not actually affect the strength ... moreof the hinges much, as neither of them is attached to it[see the photo below] This is more of a visual than structural defect-the one thing that should-not- be done is the spine should not be glued down to the binding back, as the binding back needs to be able to flex and bend as the book is opened. Some cloth tape down the rear hinge would fix this, but I leave it to you to decide on that repair.
