Here is some general information on a hoosier cabinet below. Ever since the early 1900s the Hoosier cabinet has been one the most favored piece of kitchen furniture ever to exist. You might argue that the kitchen table is the dearest. And if it is, the Hoosier is a very close second. The official Hoosiers were made by the Hoosier Manufacturing Co. of New Castle. Indiana, but models were also crafted by other Indiana companies. Today the term"Hoosier Cabinet" is generically applied to any cabinet that fit's the following description. Has a base with doors and drawers on the bottom for storage, Has a porcelain work surface. Many times this will slide out, Has a top that often has a roll. Or tambour door. Top can include a sifter. A flour bin and other accessories, Usually the cabinet will be set on a set of small casters. There are many variations and styles Hoosiers and Hoosier type cabinets. From Country to Art Deco. Circa 1900 Mahogany Green leather inlaid steps Sturdy and strong Minor surface wear, Here is a very hard to find set of antique library steps. These steps were made in England sometime around 1900 and we have recently imported them into our Atlanta. GA antique furniture store. Library steps like this were designed to allow someone to reach the top shelves of the bookcases in their libraries. Some are simple but others like this one are more decorative and add elegance as well as utility to the room they inhabit. The wood used is solid mahogany and the stairs themselves are covered in a green leather with gold tooling. A mahogany pole is central to the steps allowing one a place to use their left hand to keep balance while perusing books with the right. This pole is topped with a decorative brass cap. These antique library steps are in very good condition. The only wear is some superficial surface wear to the stairs as you can see in the photos. Structurally the steps are sound. At 180 pounds I am able to climb to the top stair and feel very stable. This is a very unusual find and would make a really interesting addition to any room with tall bookcases. These antique library steps are sturdy and beautiful. The four stairs spiral around the balance pole. Here you can see some of the minor surface wear to each step. The mahogany feet are quite sturdy. Each step is covered in gorgeous green leather. A beautiful and interesting addition to any home or office. The turned mahogany balance pole is capped with a brass top. Have Questions? Antique Dutch Armoire Linen Cupboard
This hand-built reproduction of a 18th century Dutch armoire would look beautiful in your home or office. An original sold recently for over €20.000. I’m not sure about its exact age, but the materials and the construction methods used suggest that this armoire was built in the early 1900’s. This armoire has two paneled doors with molded ebony inlays. Inside are three oak plank shelves. With a small drawer suspended from the bottom one. Below the doors is a single wide drawer, locked with a pin from inside the unit. Dimensions are approximately 74.4"189 cm) high, 19.7" 50 cm) deep, and 59” 150 cm) wide. The largest dimensions are for the top of the unit: 70.1 inches(178 cm) at its widest point, and 25.6" 65 cm) deep. The doors measure about 58.3" 148 cm) in width. It has ball feet in front and straight legs at the back ... moreof the unit. The lock is fully functional and includes an ornate key. There is some evidence of normal wear-and-tear. English Chippendale Broken Arch Pediment Hanging Corner Cabinet Antique Cupboard
English Chippendale Broken Arch Hanging Corner Cabinet or Cupboard Blind Doors. Late 18th Century c. 1780-1800 Item# 130001GHP27 This is a very fine solid mahogany English Chippendale Hanging Antique Corner Cabinet or Cupboard with a Broken-Arch Pediment. Crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century c. 1780-1800. Of outstanding construction. It features thick planed and carved crown molding along the Broken-Arch, raising the visual plane of the cabinet quite intensely to culminate in a turned finial over a plinth scroll cut of the solid. The sides of the case bevel to soften the edge before joining the wall, these flanking two blind doors. The doors are constructed using a through-tenon mortised frame locking in the inset chamfered panels. Each with shapely notched crests and edged by cockbead molding, both functioning smoothly on ... moreoriginal brass hinges. Inside of the doors, the original hardware remains untouched, the hand forged iron latch on the left door locking the panel in place, the original steel lock on the right door still in place. The interior is four shelves, all but the second-to-top shelf backed by a silk upholstery. The back of the case is entirely dovetail construction. The quarter-sawn oak secondary woods locking into the top and bottom boards without the use of nails or screws. Over the years, this has placed some strain on the back-most corners, as the oak is not thick enough to create an indestructible joint, resulting in some light cracking and looseness where the two boards come together. The cabinet is meant to be mounted using multiple screws through the backboards, coupled with the original hanging tabs at the top of the cabinet on both sides. This is a simply gorgeous antique corner cabinet that can pull together any formal and classically oriented part of your home. Antique 18th Century George III Chippendale Linen Cabinet Cupboard c. 1790-1820

Description: This listing is for a Flame Mahogany George III English Chippendale Linen Cabinet in Two Parts. Probably c. 1790-1820. It is a stunning work of art using the choicest of Flamed Mahogany selections to highlight the case. The cabinet is constructed using broad dovetails to lock the case together, bringing the solid mahogany sides together with the pine secondary woods permanently. Along the top, exposed through-dovetails line the edges flanking a rough hand planed surface, nearly black with oxidization. A carved mahogany crown wraps around the top over two large doors, each framed with thin molding scalloped at each corner to highlight simply incredible flamed mahogany veneers. The veneers rest over mahogany secondary ... morewoods, which from the inside can be seen as a single solid board making up each door, solid mahogany framing locking all parts together. The doors swing over original brass hinges with original hand forged screws. The left door originally locked shut with brass catches on the top and bottom of the door frame, but these have since become non-functional- later metal catches were installed on the door at one point, both of which function to secure the door. The right door features the original brass lock, again with all of it's original screws, still functional but with some difficulty operating fully. When you insert the key, which also appears to be original, it will lock the door, but does not extend the full way or retract entirely either- however, it does sufficiently secure the door. The lower chest is a work of art. Using a scalloped molding to complete the frame around the upper portion, the interior with an oak strip that allows the top to slide backwards and allow for a comfortable handhold. This oak strip is photographed below and features all original screws. The chest boasts two small drawers side-by-side over two large graduated drawers. Each features matching

Rare Antique Italian Chinoiserie Cabinet on Stand Circa 1680 Description: A rare and stunning Italian chinoiserie cabinet on stand. Circa 1680. The cabinet is black and gold lacquer with mother of pearl inlay. The left front door depicts a ship, and the right, a Chinese temple, possibly South Putuo Temple. While the scenes and figures are all European interpretations of Chinese scenes and figures, the one character standing beside the ship is wearing a 17th century European outfit, leaving a telltale sign as to the age and origin of the piece. This is not un-common for pre-1800 depictions of Chinese subjects but I always find it somewhat humerous. The interior of the cabinet has been altered and now has mirror glass lining the inside. It was used as a bar in the home we purchased it from. Condition is as shown. Please view all pictures very ... morecarefully. Antique Painted European Corner Cabinet, 18th Century Europe, Bible Scene
Antique wooden corner cabinet dating to the late 1700's. The cabinet has two curved doors that have a scene painted on them. Probably biblical. There is a king with a crown, some Roman guards and other various people. I wish I could identify the scene but I am not a biblical scholar. The cabinet measures 36 inches high and each side is 13-3/4 inches deep. It measures 22 inches across the front. Condition is good for being over 200 years old. The cabinet is solid though there are some splits to the sides and one small part cut out, all over wear and flaking paint. It does not appear to ever have had the paint touched up. The hinges have some breaks and are held to the cabinet with all kinds of screws and nails through out the years. This piece is far from pristine, but absolutely fabulous. The cabinet is black and gold lacquer with mother of pearl inlay. The left front door depicts a Chinese ship. And the right, a Chinese temple, possibly South Putuo Temple. While the scenes and figures are all European interpretations of Chinese scenes and figures, the one character standing beside the ship is wearing a late 17th century European outfit, leaving a telltale sign as to the age and origin of the piece. This is not un-common for pre-1800 depictions of Chinese subjects but I always find it somewhat humerous. The interior of the cabinet has been altered and now has mirror glass lining the inside. Freestanding cabinet with doors that hide shelves and drawers. This piece of furniture in its present form was devised by the French in the 17th century. The armoire is a derived from the humble chest. And the name comes from the Latin word"armorium" which was a chest for storing armor. Originally an armoire was used to store armor and weapons. Armoires were used to store personal belongings and treasures. Which is why they were so massive in size. Tapestries, rugs, clothing and any and all belongings could be stored in armoires. Riley was a joiner in the Lower Chichester Township of Chester County in the late 1700's. He died in 1820) Both the manner in which it was joined and the superior quality of the wood can perhaps be attributed to his workshop. All original. Nothing replaced. It has mortised and tenon joints throughout. Shows it's age handsomely, a rich mellow patina to this most desirable wood. A very large cupboard. Measures 44" across including the cornice and 36" high, it's 10" deep back to front. The interior has three shelves that are each 6" deep. They are in graduated heights. Bottom shelf is 12" high, middle shelf is 10" high and top shelf is 6-1/2" interior clearance is 10-1/2" And as we previously mentioned the shelving is also made of walnut. All square nails visable on the back of the cupboard. This more than 200 year old cupboard was once the top portion of a full size cupboard. It is a superb example with in two parts; the curved upper cabinet with two inlaid paneled doors resting on a cupboard having three frieze drawers and a two-door cupboard with shell inlay.
