This problem may be able to be repaired with a simple oil treatmnt, but I cannot completely guarantee it. The cabinet is made of solid wood with a thin wood backing. The backing on one side is warbled from moisture, but this warbling does not come all the way through to the inside, although there is some discoloration on the inside in that area, and the bottom boards are slightly warped. This is all at the bottom section of the case, and therefore does not show unless the bottom doors are opened.

English Chippendale Broken Arch Hanging Corner Cabinet or Cupboard Blind Doors. Late 18th Century c. 1780-1800 Item# 130001GHP27 This is a very fine solid mahogany English Chippendale Hanging Antique Corner Cabinet or Cupboard with a Broken-Arch Pediment. Crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century c. 1780-1800. Of outstanding construction. It features thick planed and carved crown molding along the Broken-Arch, raising the visual plane of the cabinet quite intensely to culminate in a turned finial over a plinth scroll cut of the solid. The sides of the case bevel to soften the edge before joining the wall, these flanking two blind doors. The doors are constructed using a through-tenon mortised frame locking in the inset chamfered panels. Each with shapely notched crests and edged by cockbead molding, both functioning smoothly on ... moreoriginal brass hinges. Inside of the doors, the original hardware remains untouched, the hand forged iron latch on the left door locking the panel in place, the original steel lock on the right door still in place. The interior is four shelves, all but the second-to-top shelf backed by a silk upholstery. The back of the case is entirely dovetail construction. The quarter-sawn oak secondary woods locking into the top and bottom boards without the use of nails or screws. Over the years, this has placed some strain on the back-most corners, as the oak is not thick enough to create an indestructible joint, resulting in some light cracking and looseness where the two boards come together. The cabinet is meant to be mounted using multiple screws through the backboards, coupled with the original hanging tabs at the top of the cabinet on both sides. Antique Painted European Corner Cabinet, 18th Century Europe, Bible Scene
Antique wooden corner cabinet dating to the late 1700's. The cabinet has two curved doors that have a scene painted on them. Probably biblical. There is a king with a crown, some Roman guards and other various people. I wish I could identify the scene but I am not a biblical scholar. The cabinet measures 36 inches high and each side is 13-3/4 inches deep. It measures 22 inches across the front. Condition is good for being over 200 years old. The cabinet is solid though there are some splits to the sides and one small part cut out, all over wear and flaking paint. It does not appear to ever have had the paint touched up. The hinges have some breaks and are held to the cabinet with all kinds of screws and nails through out the years. This piece is far from pristine, but absolutely fabulous. Rare Antique 18thC Pair Italian Painted Chinoiserie Corner Cabinets Cupboards
This is a rare opportunity to own a pair of 18th century wooden Italian corner cabinets hand painted in chinoiserie style. Which is a fanciful European interpretation of Chinese style in the design of furniture and pottery etc. during the 17th and 18th century. The dimensions of the cabinets are 80 3/4 inches tall by 30 3/4 inches wide and the depth is 22 inches. I purchased these cabinets many years ago in a fine antique shop in Connecticut. I was told that they were from a villa in Florence Italy and were from the 18th c. It is rare to find a pair, and please look closely at the pictures so that you can see that each cabinet has a different scene. These cabinets are not just furniture but they are a work of art. The colors and design are bright and very beautiful. There are some cracks in the wood and crackling of paint all due to age, ... morehowever none of this detracts from the beauty of these pieces. Antique Hanging Corner Cupboard - Hand Chamfered and Pegged
Lovely 19th Century Hanging Corner Cupboard Perfect for displaying collectives or storage. This cupboard is all hand chamfered and pegged! I believe the wood is walnut but can not say absolutely. It does show evidence of old wood worm activity but it is inactive! We recently repainted removing it from where it hung and decided it was time for it to go to a new home. The dimensions are 47" tall 32" across from where each side touches the wall and 17" deep. The one door does have a slight warp at the bottom as seen in the 7th picture. It has been made out of solid oak with mahogany cross banding which is a wonderful rich colour and a fantastic patina. Which can only be gained through age. The cupboard would look fantastic in any room you choose to hang it in. The corner cupboard has two bow fronted doors which is complete with it's original lock(which has been photographed separately) and key which is fully working. There is a lovely brass escutcheon to each ... moreof the doors. The doors have lovely mahogany cross banded with lovely shaped detailing to the corners of the doors which sets them off beautifully. The doors open to reveal three shelves. The left door is held in place by a superb original hook. The top is finished off superbly with a nicely shaped cornice and there is a lovely shaped molding to the base. The front to this cupboard is wonderful. From the photographs you can see just how stunning the patina is. DIMENSIONS: The approximate dimensions are: 25.25 inches(measured from corner to corner) 17.25 inches along wall(this is the distance it would come out along the wall measured from the corner) 39.5 inches high. Also the approximate distance between the shelves going from top to bottom is: top 7 inches. 2nd 7.5 inches, 3rd 9 and bottom 12 inches. As can be seen from the above dimensions this corner cupboard is of lovely proportions. AGE: The corner cupboard is GEORGE III and dates to circa 1780/ 1800. Antique Dutch Walnut Marquetry Corner Cabinet c.1800, This is an antique Dutch walnut marquetry bow front corner cabinet which dates from circa 1800 and bears the brass plaque of the retailer S& H Jewell. The cabinet has fabulous inlaid marquetry of urns. Flowers, butterflies, birds, foliage and line-inlay overall. The upper section is enclosed by an arched glazed door, the base features a bow fronted pannelled door and it stands on bracket feet. It is a very decorative piece of furniture which is certain to attract a lot of attention. Condition: In excellent condition having been beautifully restored in our workshops. Walnut The Walnut woods are probably the most recognisable and popular ... moreof all the exotic woods. Having been used in furniture making for many centuries. Walnut veneer was highly priced and the cost would reflect the‘fanciness’ of the veneer– the more decorative, then the more expensive and desirable. Figured Walnut and Burr Walnut(often referred to as Burl Walnut) were considered as the most attractive varieties of Walnut. Burr Walnut veneer was taken from the specific part of the tree where‘growths’ sprouting smaller branches and/ or roots would occur. As these‘growth’ areas were limited in both occurrence and size. Larger veneers were hard to source and often on bigger furniture(tables, desks, bureaus, cabinets etc) these veneers would have to be carefully joined by matching up the pieces or blending them together. Marquetry is decorative artistry where pieces of material(such as wood. Mother of pearl, pewter, brass silver or shell) of different colours are inserted into surface wood veneer to form intricate patterns such as scrolls or flowers. Georgian 1790 Antique English Hanging Cupboard or Corner Cabinet. An authentic Georgian period hanging corner cabinet dates from about 1790. This beautiful cabinet was hand crafted in England of solid mahogany with delicate inlaid satinwood stringing or banding. The door panel is a single wide plank of figured mahogany. Hand chamfered or raised on the back. There is a shrinkage separation from age, see photos. Hand planing marks can be felt everywhere on this antique furniture. Hand wrought rose cut nail heads are visible on the back. A key works the wrought iron lock.
