I salvaged these from a hotel(Rasthaus) I worked at in Germany. It was a hotel that the US military"confiscated" from Hitler after the war. For more on the History of this resort/hotel. Google afrc chiemsee. These hinges were used on the the revieving double doors in the back where trucks would deliver to the hotel. They decided to put in a rolling door and I snagged these before their journey to the dumpster. I shipped them home in my bag on the 1 year anniversary of the 911 terrorist attacks(flights were the cheapest in history on that day) Naturally. Airport security searched my bag because of the tremendous weight. They simply could not comprehend why someone would smuggle hinges into the US. Alas, I got them home and they have been one of the coolest things I own for more than a decade. But now I have children and bills and ... morelittle use for these beautiful hinges. They are in great working condition and are extremely solid. There is some rust around a few of the stationary pins(part that fastens to the door frame) where it screws to the jamb. It is minimal and doesnt seem to threaten the integrity or strength of the hinges. Also. The flat portion of this pin piece that attaches flush to jamb is slightly bowed(curved) I tried to capture this in a photo, but could not. I believe this occured from overtightening and, again, does not seem to effect the integrity or strength of the hinges. Paint is decent but peeling in places and has some old paint/varnish over parts. It will be easy to refirb or leave for the rustic shabby chic look. They are used but good working condition. Please review the photos closely so you know the exact condition. Size, color, etc. Please note that this item is SOLD AS IS and cannot be returned. Pair of old barn door hangers just found in an outbuilding. These are rusty and covered in dirt but the wheels move freely. The roller section is approx. 6" long by 1-1/2" wide. Up for auction we have 2 very old unique primitive blacksmith made barn door rollers! I cannot say that these barn door rollers are an exact match because they are not! First off the roller wheels are frozen solid in place. No amount of wd-40 or liquid wrench could free up these roller wheels but I thought that someone out there in Ebay land could repurpose these barn door rollers or that they would present very well as wall hangers! Okay, the roller wheels are both the same size, 6 inches in diameter, the thickness of the wheels are both 7/8's wide. The larger roller frame at its widest point measures 16 inches, the height of the frame is 17 5/8 inches and weighs 7 lbs. 13 ozs. The smaller roller frame at its widest point measures 13 3/4's, the height of the frame measures 17 3/8 inches and weighs 7 lbs.15 ozs. As you can see from ... morethe photos the rollers are very pitted with age. I cleaned the rollers and frames with a wire brush. Soap and water and then sprayed the rollers with clear enamel. I do believe that these rollers are 19th century and perhaps mid 19th century in regards to age! I would hazard a guess to say that these rollers were at one time mounted to the same barn door, judging by the matching patina of the metal and the similar patterns of pitting present on both rollers, perhaps the black smith who made these rollers was limited to the raw materials he had on hand when he hammered out these cool rollers, hence the size difference! These rollers came from an old estate here in West Pa. Perhaps a great addition to your early primitive Americana collection! A side note about shipping costs. a 10' pc of 1 1/4" by 3/16" door track that is good and straight. All of the original wall brackets are there and they are well connected. The wall brackets would hold the rail out 1 1/2" from the wall. THIS PC WILL GET CUT FOR SHIPPING. I could ship a 9' pc. But not a 10' because it is too costly.
