Vintage Pair of ALLITH-PROUTY RELIABLE HANGERS~ BARN DOOR ROLLERS ~1901 1903
UP FOR BIDS IS A Vintage pair of ALLITH-PROUTY COMPANY RELIABLE HANGERS for the old style barn/shed sliding doors. These are heavy weight cast iron constructed. Patented NOV 19th. 1901 and DEC 8th, 1903. They were classified as No. 2 size. Made in Danville, Ill. I've found a few sets of these over the years but they are very hard to find. They have embossed letters of cast information on both units. Both rollers are in great shape and roll freely. I did not touch these in regards to cleaning or buffing them. This is the way I acquired them from inside a drawer in an old workshop. With no reserve these are a sure steal! Feel free to email me with any questions!

Take a look at this vintage pair of ALLITH-PROUTY COMPANY RELIABLE HANGERS for the old style barn/shed sliding doors. These are heavy weight cast iron constructed. Patented NOV 19th. 1901 and DEC 8th, 1903. They were classified as No. 2 size. Made in Danville, Ill. All four rollers on these barn door hangers move freely. On one of the upper guide rollers, there is a crack in the cast iron. This won't affect the usability of the unit. I’ve shown the crack in picture#3. Thanks for looking at my auction! I got these from a barn slated for demo in Tinton Falls New Jersey. They were functional when I salvaged them. And would love to see them go into the hands of someone who plans on putting them back to use or on display. They definitely show some rust but are in good condition for their age, and are still strong and sturdy. Items are being Sold As Is. Allith Prouty Co No.2 Reliable Hangers~ 2 Pair Barn Door Rollers~ Patent 1901
All of these hangers have rust but everything that was intended to move. Moves. I'm not sure how hard it will be to replace the missing lower rollers on the 2 but they don't look terribly complicated, quite simple really, if one had to fabricate them. I believe they could be found in a nautical supply store and maybe a hardware store. I think the oil door is an easy one and a repair could be made on the main pulley that has a chip. There are a pair that could be used with no repairs necessary. Please keep in mind that these are well over 100 years old and that they are heavy moving door hardware probably where a lot of work happened. All that considered, they're in fairly good condition and they are very cool looking! Questions, feel free. Thank you for looking.

Up for bid is a pair of cast iron antique barn door hangers. Cast by the Allith Mfg. Co. out of Chicago. Illinois. Reliable Hanger No. l. Patd. Nov. 19, 1901- Dec. 8, 1903. Hangers measure 9-1/2" long by 4" wide. All movable parts roll easily. Top edge of one hanger is slightly bent. Nuts. Bolts, and washers appear original(2 bolts are slightly bent) One hanger only missing one washer. Other hanger missing one bolt, nut, and washer. Thanks for your interest.
