The opening on the top measures about 15" wide x 12" tall. The unit is rusty and it does not have the vane on the top of it. We actually took this unit off an old chicken coup. This unit is designed to go on the peak of a roof with flashing. What a great item to put on a garden shed. Chicken coup, or other outbuilding. The unit has been used and shows wear. We are unsure of the age of the unit- possibly from the 1930's. We are cleaning out a couple of old barns. All of the items have not been used for several years. Up for bid is a pair of cast iron antique barn door hangers. Cast by the Allith Mfg. Co. out of Chicago. Illinois. Reliable Hanger No. l. Patd. Nov. 19, 1901- Dec. 8, 1903. Hangers measure 9-1/2" long by 4" wide. All movable parts roll easily. Top edge of one hanger is slightly bent. Nuts. Bolts, and washers appear original(2 bolts are slightly bent) One hanger only missing one washer. Other hanger missing one bolt, nut, and washer. Thanks for your interest.

Front face is all white paint over brass gilt on cast. Back has some black paint to sides. Condition is good with showing aged chipping to paint. Light surface rust present to areas. All solid and in great working order. Nice spring tension when you pull ring. It measures 2 1/8 inches wide. Main square cast body is 5 1/4 inches long. Not including end latch or ring.
