Is an antique/vintage lot of'split rivets, tubular rivets, burrs, clinch nails, tacks, caps, nuts, bolts and washers" All of these items, were found in the basement of a 200 year old locksmith estate. I have seperated them all, as best as I can, into small plastic storage containers. The containers are included in this lot. The actual age of these items, is unknown. Some appear antique, and some are vintage. Most are a bit rusty and dirty from basement storage. Some are brass, steel, and a few appear to be copper. Machine made nails came into use in the 1820's and were made until the common wire nails replaced them. The heads have a hand hammered head and would give a neat rustic look. All the heads are shown so look closely. They have their original rust and were not wire brushed or cleaned. There is some rust is on the nails from their many years of use. They are used so they are bent some. These are the exact nails that you will receive. These nails are a mix from 1" to 4" long. The Wrought Head Nail Mill The wrought head nails main mill building was constructed in the early 1800's and was named after the fulling mill(Parker Mills) whose foundation it now shares. The mill was rebuilt in 1848 after a fire destroyed part of the structure. Until the 1920's the main source of power was a centrifugal water wheel which powered the massive overhead shafting. The beams and trusses mostly wooden pegged are a study in strength and rigidity for which the ship-carpenters who designed and built them would have been justly proud today. The bell in the cupola bears a date of 1851 and has called to work and to rest over six generations of loyal Wrought Head Nails workers. I have a large lot of old square cut nails for your consideration. The majority appear to be machine cut or stamped manufacture although are imperfect being different thicknesses and lengths. I found six that appear to be older and hand peened. few odd ones as well. I am not sure of any of there ages although these all look old.
