1850 Hand Forged 15 rusty square nails. 4 1/2" to 4 3/4" removed from a cabin near Fruitland, Idaho. These are called rose heads as each head is different than the others owing to them being made one at a time. This early settlement near Fruitland and Weiser was one of the first where Shoshone Native American attempted to live peaceably among the whites. They did grow crops which were stolen and destroyed by the powers that be. This auction is for a Lot of 50 used regular sized. Long antique hand forged, hand made nails. Circa 1800. Square shaft with rose head and chisel tip. 29 Largest are of lengths ranging from approx. 2 1/8” inches to the longest nail measuring approx. 2 1/2” inches. 21 Smaller range from the length of 1 1/8” to 1 1/2” with the exception of one largest at 1.75” Condition varies. 6 Vintage ? 4" Cut Rose Head Nails #25
Up for sale are 6. 4" rose head Cut nails. These are not hand forged. Cut nails are made out of flat sheet metal and cut by a machine with a blunt end and only tapered on one side. The older ones had a applied head and I think the newer ones were all done by machine. I am not sure what ones these are. They are still older than the round ones of today. I am almost sure these are rose heads. Not sure of the age. They do not look like they have been used. Good for heavy decorative work. See Pictures and Item Specifics/ Item description.
