Two- section type case drawer: This antique printer's type drawer is great versitile display case for your treasures. It is divided into two horizontal sections now. But the notches are there to slide in vertical dividers wherever it suits your design needs. This is a large drawer 16 1/2" by 32 1/4" and about 1 1/2" deep. Framing boards are about 1 3/8" deep and 7/8" thick. This drawer will clean up to be a beauty. There is nothing like fine old wood. But the years and heavy use have also graced it with a character all its own so I leave it to the buyer to strip that away. This drawer is sturdy but dirty and very. Very rustic. It still smells a bit of printers ink and old. Old building. You can strip and clean up with a mix of turpentine and linseed oil, but it will lose some character and possibly value in the ... moreprocess. This type drawer was originally part of the furniture in The News-Digest. A weekly newspaper in Amite, Louisiana which was owned by several generations of my family between 1924 and the 1990s. The paper was established in 1861 and underwent many name and ownership changes through the years. It merged with other regional publications in the late 1990s to become what is today known as the Tangi Digest. When my grandfather and father owned the paper a Linotype was used for most type while hand set type was still used for a few ads. The publication went to computers and offset press production in about 1970 and this drawer. Along with the rest of the type cases, went into storage. SUPER QUALITY PIECE! Quarter sawn. Tiger oak construction. Deeply carved, Jacobean scene salvaged from 1800s European cabinet. A mustachioed, medieval knight in Robin Hood hat appears to be hunting an antlered deer. It looks like they are leaping over a fallen tree. A background castle can be seen on the left& a nicely carved tree on the right. Gothic flowers in each of the top corners. Authentic 1800s item. It measures 21 1/2 inches by 16 1/4 inches. This auction is for an Antique Set of 6 Cast Iron Bathtub Ball and Claw Feet. Two are marked with the number 29 and two are marked L. The measure 6 1/2" across, the bracket sticks out about 2 1/2" by 1 1/2" the slot opening is 1 3/4" long by 1/2" wide. They stand about 8" tall. They seem to be in very good condition, minimal paint loss, don't know if the paint is original or not. The set of four feet weigh almost 22 pounds. joe calcite CRESCENT No 4 BELT DRIVE GRINDER CAST IRON INDUSTRIAL MACHINE PEDESTAL This offering is for an antique cast iron pedestal stand taken from a line shaft. Flat belt drive stand grinder. The wording'NEW MODEL No 4 CRESCENT' is cast into the metal of the yoke. The piece was found at the sale of a blacksmith shop that operated from the mid 1800s to the mid 1900s through 3 generations. For those who may be interested, the grind wheels, shaft, and babiches are available. This pedestal would make a great base for a desk, dining or console table. The exterior has been cleaned thoroughly of the century of grease and dirt build up. There are no doubt a few nooks and crannies that retain some hardened grease. The whole thing was clear coated on the exterior. As shown. The yoke and base are separate pieces and will ship separately ... morepackaged. The base alone stands 22 1/4" tall, and 20" in diameter at the floor. This section weighs 112 pounds before packing. The yoke, which weighs 49 pounds before packing, brings the total height to 30 3/4" The yoke is 28 1/4" across, and 5" wide at the mounting surfaces at each end. The far right end of the yoke as shown in photo 8, is shown in close up in photo 9. It shows a piece of iron cracked off which was bolted back on at some point. The broken piece is a bolt mount for an add-on tool holder used with the grinder. It does not affect the strength of the piece or the mounting of a table top to the yoke. Original hand painted Victorian Cottage dresser mirror and mirror harps. These are great pieces and still retain their original hand painting. This can be used as replacement for a Cottage style Dresser. Or the harps used as some great sign holder arms. One of the harps is missing a tip on one end and has an old crack that has been replaces, but all is strong and ready for another 110-years of service. This set is in good condition with only minor signs of age; one drawer has a slight crack on the side and has a couple blemishes on the other side(see pictures) It is in the original finish and has only been wiped down with furniture polish. The unit measures about 14 inches long. 6 inches wide and 9 ¾ inches tall. I do not know what type of machine that it came from. Here's a unique antique printer's type tray or drawer that would make a nice addition to an industrial or primitive antique decor. Use it as is or use it as a"shadowbox" to display small treasures. Miniatures and/or photos or, re-purpose it as part of a table top. It has strips of copper(or. Possibly brass) trimming the top of the horizontal-running dividers. This trim has a really nicely aged patina. The color of the metal and the fact that there are spots of green-colored oxidation on it lead me to believe that it is copper. The edge of the tray/drawer where the handle is located is covered in painted metal(as is the handle) The handle was designed so that a card/sturdy paper can be slid into it. Carvings removed from a junked sofa that was painted white. The carvings are mahogany wood that was hand carved. The old dowel joinery indicates that the carvings date to the early years of the 20th century at the earliest. Some paint residue still remains. The 2 legs that have carving at the top were in the front of the sofa and the plainer ones were in the back. The big chip on on the leg seen in the second pic is on the inside of that leg. The auction is for the 4 legs and the other 2 carvings are included as a bonus. The legs are 9 7/8 inches tall by 5 wide by 3 thick. Authentic Replacement Wooden Furniture Roller Casters Wheels ~Set of 4!
Here is a set of four replacement furniture casters with sleeves. These are made just like the originals. A lot of times these have been seperated from your antique piece of furniture. These are necessary to move your furniture to clean and they bring the piece up to the proper height. Dragging furniture back and forth will weaken the glue joints. Usually it is a good idea to replace the sleeves also for a secure fit. Wheels are 1 1/4" in dia. stem is 1 1/2" long sleeve is approx. 1 1/4"
