4 vintage Ball Bearing BASSICK CASTERS - CHROME w/ ROUND WHEELS
This is a fabulous set of four vintage BASSICK chrome casters in great condition. They feature a streamlined design with ball bearing post inserts. Dome-style metal-chrome wheel covers, and black round wheels. These casters swivel freely 360 degrees. The wheels have relief embossed identifiers which read, BASSICK. The black wheels are made of a very hard rubber. Or maybe plastic composite material. The wheels measure approximately 1 ½ inches in diameter. The insert posts are about 1 3/8 inches long. We do not know the load capacity. All four casters are in great used condition. The chrome finish is fantastic with barely a sign of rust just some mild scratching(see photos) The black wheels are good with some signs of wear along the centers(wear area) The inserts post are good. In the photos it looks like there is rust where the post meets ... morethe caster covers. It was actually dried grease and dirt. The ball bearing movement is smooth; however they might need a little extra grease to ensure longer life. We’ve seen similar casters on a number of vintage. Four Bassick casters from an Industrial Salvage auction. They most likely came from a 1940s-1950s office/secretary's chair. They are. I believe, made of steel and the black rolling ball is some type of hard rubber. The diameter of the ball is about 1-3/4" the height of the caster(without the shaft) is about 2-1/8" and the shaft is 1-1/2" The manufacturer, Bassick, is imprinted on each ball. They show signs of use/wear but no serious dents or major dings. They all roll freely. One caster has an additional hardware piece attached to the shaft. They are all in need of a major clean up. I have a great pair of older BASSICK model 461 casters in nice shape. The green is a wonderful patina, but they are both in great working condition for actual use or as STEAMPUNK accessories. The writing on the unit is BASSICK 461 USA and on the wheel is 4T 24BASSICK. From my measurements and a little research, they are 4" x 5" plate with 4 inch center to holes on the 5" side. The wheels are 4" diameter. The hole for bolts is 3/8" diameter and the thread width is 1 3/8" they each weigh about 3 1/2 pounds and the caster height is 5" In the BASSICK catalog, on page 24 is similar new swivel wheels and the wheel is BACO soft rubber thread recommended for hand pushed operation on hard floors. 4 Vintage Bassick 3" Industrial Ball Bearing Swivel Caster Wheels Patent 1931
This auction is for a set of four 3" diameter mall bearing swivel casters made by Bassick. They have a gray steel color and an industrial style. They are marked with a patent number issued in 1931. They are in good used condition with no damage. The mounting plates measure about 3" x 4" and the casters are about 3 1/2" tall overall. Low minimum bid!

They are in good, working condition and roll easily. I have several other groups of antique and vintage hardware being offered in other auctions.
