Large. Salvaged, architectural pediment. Beautiful, Victorian antique in overall wonderful condition! Walnut construction with raised, bevelled, burled panel in the middle. Highlights include.sawtooth trim far left and right, quarter fan carvings, segmented vertical trim, cornice molding above, and repeating geometric design across top with cannonball finials. Hanging wire attached in back with felt pads to protect wall. Can also freely stand upright, on its own. This ca. 1860-1875 solid walnut hand carved pediment in the rococo revival manner measures43 1/2" wide x 23" tall x 2" deep with the pierced and fruit carved removable section measuring app. 25" x 8 1/2" tall. The piece is in fairly well preserved condition with dry old refinished surface and some sratches. Gouges and scrapes from a recent move. There is a glued breaks in the openwork on one end, but no apparent loss. It most likely graced a stately bedstead or armoire and has a great rich look. Beautiful)note the second beautiful) top crest off a 1870's/1880's organ that was found in a barn in NY state and has not seen the light of day I would say in fifty or sixty years. This pediment has nice Eastlake spoon carvings, mutiple layers of molding and fret work, a finish that screams that it is old and a great Gothic/Eastlake feel. This auction is for a beautiful antique eastlake Victorian walnut pediment crest. This crest is large measuring about 47 1/2" long and about 20 1/2" tall and weights just over 10 pounds. Front is very nice as can be seen in photos. Minor damage on back where pegs broke out but does not show on front. Crest displays very nice and would look wonderful above door. This is a really nice heavily carved antique Victorian walnut pediment or panel. It has a nice center panel or medallion along with brackets on each corner. Floral cornices and carved trim. It measures aprox. 40 3/4" wide(33 1/4" wide at the top) x 23 1/2" high x 4 1/2" deep. There is a small piece of trim missing at the top left which you can see in the pictures, we may have a piece that can be used. Overall it is in good condition. Easltlake Victorian, Walnut Header/Topper/Pediment
This is a nice little Eastlake Victorian walnut header or pediment piece from the top of a piece of furniture. It is solid walnut and is in very good condition. The original finish is still in place with a lot of paint specks that were caused by painters that were less than careful. The glue blocks on the back have been broken and probably should be replaced to make it sturdy. It measures 29 inches wide and 9 inches tall. There is a place on the back that appears to be a split. LARGE. Ornate, Victorian panel. Guaranteed antique. Salvaged from European cupboard. Solid walnut construction with nice beveled framing along the outside and around the center diamond. Near each corner is raised beveled triangles with spoon carved and inscribed carving. In the center is a DEEPLY acanthus carving and very dramatic to see in person. Escutcheon is off the hook!
