Fabulous 18th Century Spanish Colonial Cabinet Vargueno Angels Portuguese
Offered for your consideration! A phenomenal find! An absolutely exquisite 18th century Spanish Colonial collectors cabinet! These are very difficult to source and this is a stunning example of fine 18th century craftsmanship. We sourced this from an estate in Central Mexico where it has been in the same family for at least 80 years and probably much much longer. It is truly an heirloom quality acquisition. The top part of the cabinet consist of multiple drawers. Each drawer is adorned with hand forged silver ornamentation with cherub motifs. The center panel with the barley twist columns opens to reveal six drawers with their original hand carved ivory knobs intact. The bottom part of the cabinet are shelves carved with a silver gilded rose motif. The top cabinet part is separate and was likely made is either Spain or Portugal circa 1750 ... moreto 1790. The bottom part was likely made in Mexico circa 1880 and fitted for the top. This was not uncommon as sometimes families shipped over just the cabinet part and would have them fitted with a table or stand upon arrival. Each small drawer is fitted with a lock. The locks are old but I suspect they date to circa 1880 as well. We do have two keys that came with the cabinet. However only one really works well and it will only unlock or lock the drawers on the left side. The overall condition is very good. It does show signs of the wear of two centuries. There is some old wormwood and some small pieces of trim missing. The ormolu is silver in color but shows signs that it may have once been gilded. The wood on the drawers is finer than the body of the cabinet. Dark ebony contrasting with nice burled wood. We photographed as it just shipped in to our warehouse. We seem to be limited in the number of photos to post here. We would be happy to email as many photos as you would like directly. The cabinet measures 54 inches wide 66 1/2 inches tall and 15 1/2 deep. Shipping within the 48 State will be via blanket wrap freight. $375 for most areas. Inner city deliveries may be sligh

Mahogany ... moreis probably one of the largest‘families’ of hardwood. Having many different varieties within its own species. Mahogany has been used for centuries in ship building. House building, furniture making etc and is the core structure of just about every 19th century vanity box, dressing case or jewellery box. It became more of a Victorian trend to dress Mahogany with these decorative veneers, such as Rosewood, Kingwood, Burr Walnut and Coromandel, so that the actual Mahogany was almost hidden from view. Mahogany itself is a rich reddish brown wood that can range from being plain in appearance to something that is so vibrant. Figured and almost three dimensional in effect. Although Mahogany was most often used in its solid form. It also provided some beautifully figured varieties of veneer like‘Flame’ Mahogany and‘Fiddleback’ Mahogany(named after its preferred use in the manufacture of fine musical instruments) Cuban Mahogany was so sought after. WONDERFUL EARLY CHINESE CABINET WITH AMAZING DECORATION - EXTREMELY RARE - L@@K
this is a really fantastic old chinese cabinet. One if the best ive seen, lots of decoration on all sides including the lid, photos dont do it any justice, its in dirty condition with wear, marks and damages, but this adds to the charm and originality of the piece, id guess its from the 1700-1800s, info and viewing welcome as pictures really dont do it justice, the lid is cracked, i think drawer handles and maybe other metal pieces maybe later replacements, difficult to tell as ive not seen another to compare it with. it measures about 40cm high, 38.5cm long, 33cm wide, its a fragile piece, should really be in a specialist auction, but i prefer a quick turnover. please enlarge all 12 photos, some cracks, scuffs and damage so im selling as seen and in need of restoration, im sure you wont find much better than this. im also listing more rare ... moreoriental pieces that came with it. 17th,18th century Jacobean carved blind door crystal cabinet
The Jacobean period of furniture style began 1603 in England with the reign of James I and ended 1688 with the reign of James II. During this time. America began to receive a migration of new people, first in Jamestown in 1607, then Plymouth in 1620. Jacobean is often described as the earliest form of furniture making in America. Categorized in a more narrow sense, it has been referred to as Pilgrim furniture. Due to the skills of the early colonists, the furniture was much more primitive than their English counterparts. Maybe a better term to use is Early American furniture. Colonial Sense wants to first start with Jacobean furniture in England since it inspired much of the colonial furniture in America. Then we will discuss the Early American furniture specifically made in this country and the skilled craftsmen whose work is highly sought ... moreafter today in the antique industry. With the help of John Fiske and Lisa Freeman, we used dates in our article pertaining to when certain styles changed in the Jacobean period. These dates are the center of roughly a five year period and should only be used in determining if a piece is early or later in the period. This was purchased years ago by a well known producer in Malibu California. He paid good money for it. I have taken a lot of pictures to see how detailed and beautiful it is. If you would like to see it before you purchase. That would be great. Also, pick up is not a problem. Just email me to set up a time and we could go from there. Please email me with any questions. YOU WILL RECEIVE WHAT IS IN THE PICTURE. A $1000 non refundable must be paid within 24hrs. Remainder of the balance within 5 days, ONCE cleared we will ship out.

I am a 4th generation Master Cabinetmaker. Having previously trained under my uncle for several years. My specialty is in creating reproductions of antique furniture. I have always had a strong appreciation for the old styles ... moreand solid workmanship, so each of my pieces is as authentic as is possible. In fact, my pieces have been mistaken as original by reputable dealers, and unfortunately have even been re-sold as originals. I really love all the work that goes into these pieces; it takes a lot of time and effort, but it's a dying art form and I feel fortunate that I can help preserve it. My joy is in sharing a bit of history with those who appreciate it but can't afford the real thing- like me. Measures 26" tall by 16 1/4" wide by 9 1/2" deep. RETURNS ARE ACCEPTED- Please let me know WITHIN 48 HOURS of receiving if this is your intent. NOTE: Again. This cupboard is NOT an antique- I built this with my own two hands. I have many other pieces of tiger maple and related furniture for sale. Please feel free to ask any questions! Thanks for looking!

American Chippendale Walnut Cabinet Cupboard for Chest, Mid Atlantic c.1770-90
Fine American Chippendale Desk or Chest Top Cabinet Mid Atlantic States. Late 18th Century Item# 130006GAJ22 This is a quite fine and highly austere work of art from the Mid-Atlantic States. Probably either Virginia or Pennsylvania c. 1770-90. It is an American Chippendale Period Four Pane Cupboard of Petite Proportions, crafted to be a flexible piece that could be placed on top of a slant front desk, a table or a chest of drawers. The joinery is precise and perfect: the top and bottom boards dovetails onto the solid Walnut plank sides of the case, the three vertical backboards nailed along the edges into the top and bottom boards, the front of the case entirely mortise tenon joinery and the door pegged through-tenon joints. The projecting molding surrounding the crown of the cabinet is well developed. The ogee form mirrored in the base molding ... moreand likewise in the carefully formed astragal molding around each of the glass panes in the door. These are the original panes, preserved in very fine condition with only a single crack in one pane, still swinging easily in the door on replaced hinges to reveal a two level interior. The finish is very early. Possibly original under later shellac; this shellac is heavily alligatored with a light crackling throughout, giving it a character and rustic quality that is very appealing. On the bottom board of the case, a scrolled"A" is scratched into the surface. This is a fine piece that has been cared for and preserved for it's lifetime- it is an outstanding selection for the discerning collector of fine American antiques. Measurements: 31 7/8" wide x 17 3/4" deep x 28 3/8" high Condition Report: Hinges are replaced. But are of the period with mostly period hand filed screws. Glass is original, the top right panel with a crack. Finish is quite early, the shellac alligatored throughout and with numerous blemishes as expected with age and use. Backboard has a small triangle replacement and a handful of modern nails supplement original cut iron nails o

Rare Antique Dutch Chinoiserie Cabinet on Stand Circa 1690
Rare Antique Dutch Chinoiserie Cabinet on Stand Circa 16 9 0 Description: A rare and stunning Dutch chinoiserie cabinet on stand. Circa 16 9 0. The cabinet is black and gold lacquer with mother of pearl inlay. The left front door depicts a Chinese ship. And the right, a Chinese temple, possibly South Putuo Temple. While the scenes and figures are all European interpretations of Chinese scenes and figures, the one character standing beside the ship is wearing a late 17th century European outfit, leaving a telltale sign as to the age and origin of the piece. This is not un-common for pre-1800 depictions of Chinese subjects but I always find it somewhat humerous. The interior of the cabinet has been altered and now has mirror glass lining the inside. It was used as a bar in the home we purchased it from. Condition is as shown. Please view all ... morepictures very carefully. There is an incredible amount of detail in this piece and it would be impossible to note every single defect. There are no major losses or repairs. It measures 58" wide by 23" deep by 73" high. This exceptional piece represents a fantastic example of 18th century Dutch cabinetry at its finest. I purchased this fabulous piece from Ashwick Court the beautiful late 17th Century Grade II listed house at Ashwick. Oak Hill, near Bath. For which ... moreit was reputedly commissioned. Condition: Original and untouched- remarkable for its age. Dimensions in cm: Height 230 x Width 170 x Depth 63 Dimensions in inches: Height 90.6 x Width 66.9 x Depth 24.8. Armoire is a tall. Freestanding cabinet with doors that hide shelves and drawers. This piece of furniture in its present form was devised by the French in the 17th century. The armoire is a derived from the humble chest. And the name comes from the Latin word"armorium" which was a chest for storing armor. Originally an armoire was used to store armor and weapons. Armoires were used to store personal belongings and treasures. Which is why they were so massive in size. Tapestries, rugs, clothing and any and all belongings could be stored in armoires. Modern uses include storing personal items such as clothes. But today armoires often serve as entertainment centers, and for computer/home office storage. Burr Walnut refers to the swirling figure present in nearly all walnut when cut and polished. And especially in the wood taken from the base of the tree where it joins the roots. Exemplary 17th Century English Oak Court Cupboard c. 1690 Of exemplary colour and with a rich natural patina. This impressively original 17th Century English oak court cupboard is in truly excellent condition and has come to us privately with provenance. All original timbers and with fielded panels to upper and lower case. Original finish(we have just lightly cleaned) ... moreConstruction is pegged throughout and consistent for 1670- 1700. Brass drop handles are correct for period and have considerable age but the cupboard has had another set of handles at some point in its history. Minor dings. Some small restorations and marks consistent with age but a very well cared for family piece which has survived in remarkably fine condition for over 350 years. The larger than average proportions indicate that this press cupboard was made for a grand and wealthy household. Beds and press cupboards tended to be the most important and valuable items of household furniture and this cupboard would have been placed in the banqueting hall and used for storage of drinking cups and other vessels. It is increasingly rare to find an early English court press cupboard which has not been subjected to the elaborate carving that the Victorians frequently added to make their inherited furniture more fashionable. Extremely heavy. Comprising all original oak timbers with hand sawn back boards and original heavily dovetailed drawer linings. Our photographs do not do the colour or condition justice. Flemish oak credence
A renaissance oak cupboard Flemish Late 16th/ early 17th century Height 69" Width 58" Depth 24" The age of this piece can be established by various factors. The style of the carving on the door panels is typical of the late 16th/early 17th century. Also. The carving on the stiles and rails is known to have existed from the late 16th century. The plain molding on the top is typical of the 16th century; by the early 17th century, the molding was nearly always carved or the top contained a carved frieze. The overall size and shape of the cabinet is typical of Flemish 4-door cupboards earlier in the 16th century, but this is the only one of this size and shape that I have seen with open shelves in the lower section. However, 16th-century cupboards from France typically have 2-door above an open section on the bottom. Please go ... moreto JIMWUERSTLIN.COM to see more photos ant to see more exceptional furniture. Antique Cupboard c.1790 Black Walnut American Federal Period Chester County PA.
Antique c.1790 American Federal Period Solid Walnut- Hanging Cupboard d Chester County. Pennsylvania DESCRIPTION An American Federal Period or Earlier Blind Door Cupboard Made in the late 1700's or very early 1800's. An authentic antique of the American Federal Period. Here's a real rarity from an estate in Chester County, Pennsylvania. A fabulous antique. A large cupboard made of solid walnut and with the most splendid original black walnut figured panelled doors. No venners on this beauty, even the interior shelves and the back of this cupboard all all made of thick and wide beautiful solid walnut boards that have lovely figuring. Early Chester County Pennsylvania cased furniture made of Walnut with this fabulous feathered graining to the wood is rare to come across. And this is truly a spectacular example. A friend who is quite ... moreknowledgeable about Chester County antique cased furniture tells us that it has the attributes of Richard Riley. Riley was a joiner in the Lower Chichester Township of Chester County in the late 1700's. He died in 1820) Both the manner in which it was joined and the superior quality of the wood can perhaps be attributed to his workshop. All original. Nothing replaced. It has mortised and tenon joints throughout. Shows it's age handsomely, a rich mellow patina to this most desirable wood. A very large cupboard. Measures 44" across including the cornice and 36" high, it's 10" deep back to front. The interior has three shelves that are each 6" deep. They are in graduated heights. Bottom shelf is 12" high, middle shelf is 10" high and top shelf is 6-1/2" interior clearance is 10-1/2" And as we previously mentioned the shelving is also made of walnut. All square nails visable on the back of the cupboard. This more than 200 year old cupboard was once the top portion of a full size cupboard. It has been used in the past on top of a large country sideboard. And would look handsome as a hanging wall cupboard. It is very heavy with t

American Chippendale Raised Panel Corner Cabinet, Eastern Shore c. 18th Century
American Chippendale Raised Panel Painted Corner Cabinet. Possibly Eastern Shore Virginia Composed of 18th Century Elements Item# 130208FPP25 This piece is a simply gorgeous work for any decorators or collectors that are looking for a pure authentic look without the authentic price tag. Original American Chippendale Raised Panel Corner Cupboards from the Eastern Shore of Virginia with this very fine form and color will cost well north of the mid five-figures. If one can be attained on the open market; this is not a piece that should be considered by purist collectors, but is a visually stunning, deeply patinated and worn work with great form and age. It is composed of 18th Century elements. Appearing to be mostly original, but certainly with some added additions/replacements. After spending quite a bit of time looking at the piece, much of ... morethe molding is replaced or added, the feet having been added and any other alterations or changes long since hidden under the later painted surface. The form is wonderful to look upon- a pair of doors with six glass panes under worn molded astragals framed in double-pinned through tenon-mortise joinery. Swinging on H-hinges open to reveal a pair of shapely maple shelves covered in a pink painted interior. The lower portion is a pair of tombstone raised panel doors, the recess highlighted with an ivory paint, these opening to reveal a second pair of shelves. The whole rests over scroll cut bracket feet with laminated blocking. The backboards are incredibly thick original planks with even rows of rusty wrought iron nails throughout. This is a piece that is sure to bring great visual elevation to whatever home it becomes a part of. Measurements: 81" high x 40" wide across the front; 21" deep to the flat of the back; 12" width across the flat-most part of the back Condition Report: Composed predominantly of 18th Century parts; due to the altered nature of the piece. It is difficult to be certain what is original and adjusted. The feet are certainly replaced, som

* ANTIQUE EARLY KING GEORGE II SHIP'S SINK / CUPBOARD / CABINET / VANITY *
ANTIQUE EARLY KING GEORGE II SHIP'S SINK/ CUPBOARD/ CABINET/ VANITY* Up for sale is this amazing antique. This very rare item is what appears to be a ship's sink. It has a porcelain sink and an old pipe down through the cabinet. This probably went into another basin that was emptied once it was full. What is so unique about this item is that it has the seal of the crown with the letters"G.R. below it. From our research on the internet. This is from King George II(Rex) or King Georgius II Rex as he was referred to and thus his initials were"G.R. He reigned from 1727- 1760 and it would make sense that this was from during his reign. It looks like a built in cabinet of some type and due to its size. It seems to be part of the quarters on a ship. It's mahogany and for being as old as it is, it's in great shape! It's ... moregot and old knob and handle for the door below. The stem of the handle is too long so the handle flops about some. We're not sure if this is the original handle or not. The cabinet is all nicely dovetail mortised. Including the bottom(not shown) The lid lifts up to reveal the porcelain sink inside. The sink has a little ding on one side but nothing out of the ordinary for the age. It even has the little brass chain and stopper for the sink basin. The back has flathead old screws in it and a couple of newer replacement screws. The backsplash also has a crack in it which is below the sink and visible only from the back. It has worn spots. Edge wear, scratches and nicks as you'd expect from and item of this age but in comparison to its age it is in GREAT condition. It measures 36" H x 20" W x 21" D and it weighs about 55 lbs. which is a testament to its quality. Thank you for looking at this item. Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks! Check out our! And. B e sure to add us to your! Note that the pictures are part of the sale so please study them carefully and ask any questions before bidding. We will do our best to answer your questions. We

Period PA stepback cupboard antique early country furniture regional delivery
Let's be honest. Is this a period cupboard? Yes. Has it been reworked and refinished? Yes. But it was not done recently. The finish has now aged and mellowed and it has a few stains and scuffs. I always show the worst I can find in the photos, so look them over. This item travels in 2 pieces. No tools or screws are used to attach the top to the base. Set the top on, and gravity does the rest. On the bottom, the left door drifts open a bit, but this in stored in an old building with not so level floors so leveling it might take care of that, or it may need a minor adjustment to the hinges. If you love genuine antique country furniture, but don't have $10,000 to buy one in original finish, this is the piece for you. It stands about 7 feet tall and 4 1/2 feet wide. Why buy a reproduction when you can have the real thing for so little ... moremoney? I am listing them as local pick up only but delivery is available to most of the Northeast at the following rates. Rare Antique 18thC Pair Italian Painted Chinoiserie Corner Cabinets Cupboards
This is a rare opportunity to own a pair of 18th century wooden Italian corner cabinets hand painted in chinoiserie style. Which is a fanciful European interpretation of Chinese style in the design of furniture and pottery etc. during the 17th and 18th century. The dimensions of the cabinets are 80 3/4 inches tall by 30 3/4 inches wide and the depth is 22 inches. I purchased these cabinets many years ago in a fine antique shop in Connecticut. I was told that they were from a villa in Florence Italy and were from the 18th c. It is rare to find a pair, and please look closely at the pictures so that you can see that each cabinet has a different scene. These cabinets are not just furniture but they are a work of art. The colors and design are bright and very beautiful. There are some cracks in the wood and crackling of paint all due to age, ... morehowever none of this detracts from the beauty of these pieces. These cabinets have stood the test of time as they are very sturdy and solid, They also have their keys which is rare. The interior of the cabinets contain shelves which look like they were replaced. They also have been looked at by several antique dealers and they have all authenticated them. I am selling these cabinets and several other antiques if you want to check my other auctions, as I am downsizing. Due to the size of these items pick up only or if you would like to arrange for freight or delivery it is up to you. Please email with any questions.

Antique Hanging Corner Cupboard - Hand Chamfered and Pegged
Lovely 19th Century Hanging Corner Cupboard Perfect for displaying collectives or storage. This cupboard is all hand chamfered and pegged! I believe the wood is walnut but can not say absolutely. It does show evidence of old wood worm activity but it is inactive! We recently repainted removing it from where it hung and decided it was time for it to go to a new home. The dimensions are 47" tall 32" across from where each side touches the wall and 17" deep. The one door does have a slight warp at the bottom as seen in the 7th picture. It does not affect the doors closing in any way. Local pick-up only unless buyer arranges shipping. We have used uShip and Plycon Vanlines in the past with great success so can recommend them. rustic 18th Century Irish Pine Hutch: own a piece of Irish history
HOTLINE: 425- 877-1074. Large. Very antique pine kitchen hutch from Ireland c. 1750-1790. This 18th century Irish pine hutch is a primitive cupboard with upper plate rack shelves and lower storage buffet. The wood throughout is marked with insect holes. Oxidation stains from nails, and serious wear, creating a rustic, unreproducible patina from 200+ years of use. The upper unit measures 75.5″ wide x ~8″ deep x 53″ tall. Its bottom shelf sits on 4 shallow drawers that slide out directly onto the work surface. One has lost its small brass handle. The 4 long shelves are grooved with a large v-notch to keep plates stored upright from falling off. They are backed by vertical tongue-and-groove boards which have several gaps from age. This upper unit is kept in place not by hardware. But by the backboards extending several inches behind the base ... moreunit to form a long lip that is held tight against the wall. The lower cabinet measures 78″ wide x 21″ deep x 32″ tall. Its counter-top surface is spectacularly worn. The base consists of a central cupboard behind a panel door flanked by 3 large drawers on the right and on the left. The drawers are constructed with pin dovetails. Some of them are missing bottom boards. Please note that the original drawer and door handles have been kept with the hutch and they can be re-installed. But the previous owner installed new handles since the wear on the originals made them difficult to use. The key to the central cupboard is not available. Our 2nd photo above shows this hutch decked out with our Christmas display at The Living Room Consignment& Tea. Of course. All the pretty things shown on and around it are for sale separately! Where will you use this amazing piece of history? Will it be your Irish Christmas hutch? It was probably originally used in a kitchen. And could certainly serve there. But with modern eclectic uses, this might just as easily find a home as a TV console in a living room, display china in a dining room, or hold books and supplies in an office or library. FREI
