Up for auction is a pair of Heywood Wakefield Encore nightstands with the original champagne finish. Each one is about 24 1/2" tall. 20" across and 16 1/2" deep. For the most part they are in very good to good condition however they need some work. In particular both have scratches to there tops and one drawer had a chip out of the top back side which has been partially restored with a new piece of wood. I had intended on keeping these for myself however the shop I had lined up to refinish the tops closed down prior to getting the work done and as I understand the finish can be a bit difficult I have choose not to do the work myself and instead offer them for sale. We are pleased to offer this exceptional pair of antique nightstands or side tables. This pair dates to around 1940. They are made of mahogany and have been painted white and distressed. The pair are elegant and sleek with a low profile. They feature a two tier design with open backs. They are French styled. Art Deco era, and have elongated lower sections with curved fronts. There have decorative square, raised wood pieces on the skirt of the lower tier. These have been left in the original finish to contrast with the paint. The legs are lovely in Duncan Phyfe style. The center leg column has also been left in the original finish. The table has ornate brass touches as well. There are lion face"door knocker" style pulls on each side between the two tiers. PAIR MID CENTURY MODERN WOOD END TABLES NIGHTSTANDS STRIPED PATTERN LAMINATE
We are pleased to offer this pair of Mid Century Modern end or accent tables. These tiered tables feature solid wood with laminate tops on each tier. The wood is quite nice and has a blonde(with a khaki undertone) finish that allows the grain to show through. The wood is not veneer. It is solid. The legs flare slightly. They feature a flattened profile that narrows in width toward the bottom. The top sections feature a wide wood band with the top inset and recessed. The bottom tier is not banded. Both the upper and lower tier feature uniquely patterned laminate tops. The laminate is white with a striated or striped pattern which is in a taupe/chocolate color. The pattern gives the tops a"woven" appearance. The tables are very nicely constructed. They do not have a manufacturer's mark, but they are very nice in both quality and ... moredesign. They are substantial in weight as well. They are in very good condition with only minor evidence of age and use. VERY NICE! Each table measures 26.25" tall. Three dovetailed drawers and a writing slide provide convenient storage and surface area for each chest, for a total of six drawers. Shaped ... morebracket feet provide sturdy support. Overall, these bedside chests remain in good vintage condition. They have, however, sustained a number of minor wear marks and scuffs, which are clearly visible in the photos. This light level of distressing contributes to the genuine antique charm of these bedside chests; they are, indeed, quite lovely, and would look great in any period furniture setting!
