You'd say"Fauteuil" They were probably manufactured after the second world war, and are made of solid walnut. The upholstery is fairly new, clean and no pet or smoking odors. The seats have springs are nicely firm. The backs have a slight"crunch" to them, which makes me think they have horsehair in there somewhere. Nice old school materials. The pieces have all the curves and cabriolets of this particular style, and have bits of floral-motif hand carving on the crest, the knees of the front legs, and the center of the skirt. They are solid and sturdy- I can see one joint that looks like it may have been re-glued. There are no repaired splits. There are two odd circular pits in the back of one of the legs- very shallow, and the size of a collar button. Other than that, magnifique! Shipping is FREE in the USA.
