Antique/ Vintage 7 Drawer Dark Oak Machinists Tool Chest Up for auction is a nice old 7 drawer solid oak machinist tool chest box. I don't see a manufcture plate on this chest but the construction. Metal corner plates, hinges, latches and the lock latch configuration resembles a Grestner chest. The drawer pulls have been replaced with pulls that have"DISSTON" printed on them. The wood is in good condition with no damage. Cracks or splits. The felt is worn and t here are a few scratches but nothing major. All of the joints are tight and the latches and hinges work properly. There is a locking plunger rod on the right side that engages the front cover to secure it in place when the lid is closed. Ocassionally. the front cover needs to be pushed to the right a little so the plunger will engage. All of the metal corner plates are ... morepresent and the handle is present and functional but has some wear on the leather. There is no key for the chest. All the latches and lock are marked Gerstner. Sorry there is no key. The box is in very good condition. The oak has a nice finish and it displays well. All the drawers slide easily and the front cover locks in place. The felt is faded on the inside cover more than inside the drawers. There is one drawer that looks to have been repaired at the back. It is solid as the others(see last photo) The leather handle shows some wear. The chest measures 20 inches long by 13 inches tall by 9 1/4 inches deep. 1940's Gerstner Oak Machinist Tool Chest, 11 Drawer, Very Very Nice
This chest is in beautiful condition. It has been well taken care of. I do not know the exact age of this but I did not find a piece of paper in it with a date past 1943. All of the drawers work perfectly. All of the hardware looks great. Some of the felt shows a little wear and dirt but very little. I cannot say it is perfect because there is a scratch on the front cover but the wood is absolutely beautiful. It has the key with it. An 11 drawer chest by Gerstner. That belonged to a local machinist, once employed by American Motors in Kenosha, WI. I believe this may be a model 042, and it measures 20" x 9.5" x 16" and weighs 27.25 pounds. It is in used condition, with the following issues of note: lifting veneer on the backside near the bottom, leather wrap mostly gone from the handle, but the handle itself is quite strong and sound, it is missing the interior mirror and one knob handle from a drawer. and there is scattered soiling to the drawer felts. On the plus side, the original key is present, and also the pictured Gerstner paper note for available covers is interesting. It also has an attractive darker finish, but with an old union sticker on the front, and you can also see two discolorations on the front where stickers once were attached. There are 8 working drawers here all of which are lined in felt. The felt is in need of replacement however. The drawers all open with a brass button type of drawer pull. The leather handle on top is in very good condition. The front panel closure is present but some of the veneer is peeling off both the front and back of this piece. I also noticed a space at the top when the drawer is positioned for closure. I pictured this in the second to last photo. Having said that I don't know if it would lock if you were able to find a key. The bottom drawer also shows separation of the wood in the bottom of the drawer. This is a Gerstner 92XL Chest and 92XL Base in Oak. Everything works. The hardware is in very good condition. Felt in nice, finish in very good, and it's big! I'm not going to ship the set because it's just too massive and nothing is worse than sending something this nice through a mail service and having it damaged. Up for bid is this Gerstner tool chest. It may be a style 44 Patternmakers chest and I believe it is from the late 1930's. It has 5 drawers. 3 full and 2 half. Condition is very good. The surfaces have been cleaned and new felt put in the drawer and top bottoms. The front drawer cover still has the original felt. Quartersawn oak drawer fronts. Signed( stamped) case on the inside bottom under the drawer. Original mirror and rule signed Gerstner The outside is all original black leatherette covering and all the corners and latches are there. Gerstner O42 Apprentice 11 Drawer Tool Chest* Excellent Original Condition* 42 Gerstner O42 Apprentice Tool Chest Oak This is quite possibly the finest vintage Gerstner Apprentice 42 tool chest I have ever personally held in my hands and I have seen quite a few. The Golden Oak finish is 100% original and other than a few minor signs of use in its 40+ years of life– nearly flawless. The Nickel Plated hardware is also in original condition– just look at the photos. With original felt. By the Gerstner label I believe this chest dates to the 1960's-70's. But I am unsure. Gerstner will be able to easily tell you for a fee. Condition is excellent. For its age it looks to be almost unused on the interior, small blemishes on exterior from years on a shelf, hardware has slight surface rust(see images) plating is flaked slightly, original felt ... moreis worn from age but bright and whole, one small heat/burn mark on top(probably where someone set their cigarette back in the day) with a very slight/small blemish on top next to it( see images as they are the best testament to how beautiful a Gerstner this is) An absolutely beautiful bow in amazing original condition. Vintage Gerstner 042. 11 drawer machinist tool box in original condition. It is 20" long, 9 3/8" wide and 16" tall. This tool box was well used but is in excellent. But not mint, condition. The box is missing the mirror normally present but it appears to have been purchased without one as there is no discoloration of the felt where the mirror is normally located. The green felts are present but there obvious age and oil/grease discoloration. The bottom left drawer pull has been reinstalled about 1/4 inch from the original location. It is missing the original machinist manual. The key is missing. See photos. Feel free to ask for another view.

Up for your consideration is this Old Original Vintage Gerstner& Sons. Dayton, Ohio, Wood Tool Chest. This is a Mid Century Wooden Tool Chest that is'Made in the USA' I believe the wood is oak. This Retro Tool Chest is being sold as it was found with dust& all! As the photos show, it needs to be refinished along with some interior felt placed in the drawers. The box itself appears pretty solid for it's age and functions as it should. It has the original working lock-set and key. The latches are all marked"Gerstner& Sons, Dayton O" The 7 drawers all have galvanized steel bottoms. Some of the hardware has a bit of minor surface rust. This is a 11 drawer leatherette toolbox. This toolbox is in excellent condition with very few blemishes on the exterior. The interior is in great shape and I believe all the drawers are original. I have re-felted this box in red felt as was available when it was made. All the movable hardware is in working condition(hinges. Locks and latches) All of the drawer pulls are there. There is a discoloration behind the right-hand pull of the bottom drawer. All this would need is to be filled with your favorite jewelry or machinists tools or anything in between. Starrett tool chest made by the Gerstner company in Ohio. Wood is mahogany. I estimate that this box is from the 1960s. The box does have the signs of being a working tool chest from a machine shop. This is shop grim on the outside as well as on the felt. Once restored it will look amazing. The box is very solid. Some cracks in a couple of the back drawer joints(easy repair) Light rust on the hardware. The size of the box is 20 x 9-3/8 x 12-5/8(not counting the handle) I do combine items to save you some cool cash. Do not pay however until you are done bidding and wait for my combined invoice. Here we have a beautiful fully restored H. Gerstner& Sons antique(circa 1940's) oak Model O41C machinists tool chest. The restoration is gorgeous. All the components: The lock. The 4 snap locks, the hinges, the finger pull, the corner hardware, the handle, and the mirror and frame, are all original. The only component not original is the green felt, which has been all replaced. Of special note is the handle, which at least 70 years old, is nearly flawless. Vintage Gerstner 18" wide 7 drawer machinist tool chest
As shown in pictures. 7 drawer 18" W x 12 1/2" H x 8 1/2" D. Main latch works great. Other latches have little tension. Note filled holes where there appears to have been a latch screwed onto the box. Felt is in nice condition.

Vintage Gerstner Oak Machinist Tool Box Chest#052 Fly Fishing Art 11 Drawer w/ machinist hand book Nice Box great patina all clasp.Handles,hinges good and strong. Hardware has some surface rust from age and box it self has some nicks and imperfections from wear. Please look at pictures carefully and ask question before bidding. The bad.I do not have the key. But you can get a replacement from Gerstner and Sons for $15.00. Front bottom right corner. Where the pin for the front door goes, wood is cracked as pictured. Door however door is still operational. Also felt on top of box and bottom pull out needs to be replaced. Gerstner sells the felt for $45.00.Other felt in box is about a 4 or 5 out of ten.
