It has burl walnut trim on the fronts with an ogee bevel edge around the routed top. It has a black felt interior on the writing surface that is nice. The finish on the sides is amazing. It has panel sides, rope twisted molding, detail cast brass hardware, escutcheons are intact. There are no keys or locks. The desk is 48 inches wide, 27 inches deep and 30 inches tall. Seeking to bring art back to the furnishings, works of the Aesthetic Movement are characterized by intricate inlays, complex veneer work, reinterpretations of 17th and 18th Century styles- particularly Chinese Gothic and Chippendale. In this example. We see remarkable influence from the William and Mary Period promulgated in the inverted trumpet pillar supports beneath the top shelf and the interpretation of bun feet. However, the case has an angular geometry that speaks of Neoclassicism across the rest of the surface, the cross-banded veneered doors and mirror reflect in the truncated prisms that flank the drawer- the angles literally bounce around the entire facade of the cabinet. These are given structure and purpose with the deeply fluted Neoclassical columns that flank either door and raise the entire case architecturally. Completing the form is a crest that is highly naturalistic and chip carved with great skill. A pierced and flowing design highly representative of the Art Nouveau movement. The veneered doors are match-booked, creating a circular vortex that swirls around the panels. Crafted in Walnut and Walnut veneers over White Pine. This is an absolute treasure for any serious collector of the fine works of the Aesthetic Movement- it is a piece you can look on and study, finding more intricacies the longer you look on it and examine its case. It has a great crest on it. The overall size is 54 inches wide, 21 inches deep, 39 inches high to the marble and 96 inches high to the top. The door compartments are divided with a shelf on each side. There are some specks of white paint on one side where someone must have splattered paint when painting a wall that I am sure would clean up. There are a few pieces of molding missing that aren’t anything major, but I wanted to mention it. Other than three or four little sections with the molding issues, it is in really nice condition.

MONUMENTAL AESTHETIC MOVEMENT VICTORIAN BURLED WALNUT DRESSER
This dresser has been in one family since the mid 1860's. It is just unbelievable- how gorgeous every square inch of this Victorian masterpiece is. First of all. It measures 8 1/2 feet high( and 54" wide and 25 1/4" deep) This is a statement piece to say the least. The maker used a combination of walnut, adorned with burled walnut. He carved- IN HIGH RELIEF- baskets of flowers, tassels, scrolling, etc. the brass hardware has the motif of a nesting eagle. There are two small drawers on either side. One large drawer across the bottom and a two door bonnet/ hat cabinet in the center. There are also two shelves on either side of the 50" x 32 1/2" double beveled mirror(also framed in burled walnut.and carved) one shelf is rounded and the other square on either side. The interior of each shelf has a burled framed relief. ... moreThere are pierce carvings of flowers and leaves all over. and the columns. there are a pair flanking the bonnet chest and a pair also flanking the mirror- wrapped in a heavily grained and burled walnut. This piece was surly done by a master of the day and is still functional and a true show stopper. The only issue at all I might mention is a very small split in the wood in the outer frame that holds the mirror- it is not structural or aesthetic- but I like to mention any issue. This unfinished Cox banjo resonator was ordered several years ago for a project that never got completed. The burled walnut veneer is very beautiful and highly figured. And will look even better under the finish of your choice. I had installed ivoroid bindings, but had not yet cut the notch for the banjo heel(where the bindings join) applied any finish, or installed any hardware. You may of course choose to rout off the ivoroid bindings and install your own. It is in excellent unused condition. And was made in the USA by a respected manufacturer of banjos and banjo parts. Antique Scandinavian 15" Folk Art Chip Carved Burled Walnut Wood Bread Platter
This large wooden Folk Art tray measures 15" in diameter and would make for a fabulous way to serve or display fresh loaves of bread. It has varied grain and color due to the nature of The burled walnut material. It has no cracks.
