Here we have a wonderful antique Abram Cox Pot belly cook stove in good vintage used condition. Black and gold trim. Has a number 12. On it. The stove measures about 24 inches tall, by 18 3/4 inches by 20 1/2 inches at the top by 18 inches by 20 inches at the base. Has two areas on top for cooking Missing one grate of two. Has door below for cleaning out ash after the wood or coal is gone. This is a great little stove for a cabin, for heat or to cook on for that great vintage cabin feel. Has a hole on top in back for a vent pipe. Needs to be checked out for safety before you use it. Was only used recently for a decorative piece in our home. Has a little vent flue that slides back and forth for air circulation. Has a wonderful eagle picture on the front of the stove. Looks pretty much original as far as I can tell but I am no expert on antique ... morestoves. The stove may need a part that is missing that I am not aware of. The stove has a great look to it with lots of character and charm. I think it dates to the early 1900's or so. Stove is marked Abram Cox Stove Co. Number 12.This could be a rare antique cook stove or laundry stove as I have not been able to find out much about it online. 18th Century adz heads, 18th and 19th century flatheaded pick adz, Antiques
These items have a very interesting return into the world. We recently rented a house built in 1915. The gentleman's family who built the house actually lived here in another smaller home dating back into mid 18 hundreds. As I have been raking. And doing some desperately needed cleanup around the property, I have unearthed many antique artifacts that appear to date back to the arrival of this family. The flatheaded pick adz is signed S F C, NC, and I cannot find anything about the date it was made. This company now does make fireman's axes which I find interesting. The 2 adz heads that I unearthed next to one of the outbuildings had the tips of them sticking up from under the base of the building. Next to them I unearthed a flattened metal rim from a wagon wheel. The only information I have been able to obtain on the 2 adz heads is ... morethat they are most likely dated from the turn of the 18th century upward to the mid 19th century. A most interesting conversation group of old tools from long ago.

Also called phylacteries, are a pair of black leather boxes containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with biblical verses. The hand-tefillin, or shel yad, is worn by Jews wrapped around the arm, hand and fingers, while the head-tefillin, or shel rosh, is placed above the forehead. They serve as a"sign" and"remembrance" that God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt. According to Jewish Law, they should be worn during weekday morning prayer services. The sources provided for tefillin in the Torah are from vague verses. The following verse from the shema states: And you shall bind them as a sign upon your arm. The round cylinder shaped one only has a B on the bottom of it. The tallest bottle measures 3 3/4" tall and the two short ones measure 2 7/8" tall. There aren't any names on any of these bottles. They each depict two lions flanking a Magen David(Star of David) The pictures depict both candelabra with close-ups of both sides of the lions, and the stem and base of one of the two(see photos) Note the different quality brass that was used for the base, stem, and candelabrum parts of each one, as can be seen by the different shades of brass(again, see photos) Each candelabrum measures approximately 14.5 inches tall X 8.5 inches wide X 4.5 inches deep.
