The device is very well preserved and emits a impressive sound, being able to play gramophone records with an incredibly good performance. It is the model 97C, a design with a greatly preserved black faux-leather covered suitcase. The article looks magnificent and its first-class sound turns it into an exclusive piece. All its component parts are original and is a highly interesting item for any collector or music lover. Inside the cover we find a sticker with the famous HMV logo in perfect condition. This antique bag is marked"1879 genuine cow hide" and something that looks like a makers name. But I can't make it out. The leather is surprisingly soft and supple, but the hardware is very tarnished and rusted, and one of the hinges is corroded through. There is one tiny crack in the leather bag, itself, that you can see in the last photo, just to the left of the metal band. Very small. What can I say? This bag is in need of restoration, and care! It needs a new lining. I have it stuffed with a pillow in the photo, but it folds in on itself with no support, as it has been stored in the"squished" position. I think this is an antique or vintage doll case or suit case. There is no doll or figure. Clasp seems to work ok maybe a touch stiff. Hardware on corners and handles on one end doesn't seem like there ever was one on the other end. Top part of cardboard separating a bit on top some wear and scuffs on outside. This has dynamite vintage stickers United Airlines, TWA, China Clipper, Eastern, and one that can't really read. The bottom has some striping that is missing and peeling elsewhere. Also one corner, paper missing please see photo. This has some wear and scuffs, but what great character. Inside two cardboard drawers which are pretty rough but here, some cardboard wear and spots, but this has such a great look and feel to it. Not quite sure how to date this, but I would think 1930s to 1950s maybe- just a guess. Actually back side ... moreof clasp has SP and patent number 18423385. I never have much luck with those things but might help someone else. This has some wear in tear but in this case it kind of adds to the charm of the piece. I do not have a key to actually lock the case, but you can open and close the snap closure. The inside is a blue pattern cloth and it does have some stains. The outside has some scratches and dings, and the brown trim is a little rough. It is still structurally sound and has a great look. Bear Candy Suitcase Milkglass Antique
This rare candy jar features the Roosevelt bears and is from the early 1900's. Some of the design has worn off and it's very hard to photograph because of the white background. Other than the worn picture and straps it has no damage. These are very scarce and the only reason I am selling it is because I found one with a stronger design. I bought this one and held onto it until I could"upgrade" it. It measures 4" long. 2-1/2" high and 2" wide. It is charming displayed with antique bears. My items come from a smoke-free home. As expected from Oshkosh. The suitcase is well made and very sturdy. The edges are square and the sides are completely flat. The outside is covered with classic tweed fabric and the inside is smooth oilcloth. The trunk has been well kept over the years and still has the original key that works. The outside has a few scuffs, nicks and dings from use, but no bad damage. The inside looks almost like new! There are canvas tie down straps with adjustable metal clasps. This auction is for a pretty cool storage case. It was used to store hats as this case still has the center snap-on insert in the middle which is rare. It is black in color and has the look of leather however I think that the leather is a faux leather except for the handle which I believe is real leather. It has a good look to it. Could be used for many purposes. It is solid and can hold some weight. It has a Corbin lock and a blue and gold floral pattern interior. A pretty neat old piece. Shows overall wear from use and I do not have the key to the lock. But the mechanism still works and releases. Thank you for looking. The case measures approx. 18 by 16.5 inches by 9 inches tall.
