I purchased this amazing antique suitcase at an estate sale in Michigan this summer. The stickers depict travel across the Canadian Railroad and trip from Vancouver British Columbia down the west cost of North America to who knows where in South America. Also it belonged to a young lady Leila Elliott Hoffman L.E.H. who took a voyage July 2nd 1911 as far as I can see from the stickers. So this suitcase caught my eye. For your consideration. Antique Victrola Phonograph I think it is called a suitcase model Exterior is in pretty good condition considering the age- some wear at the corners. Inside looks really nice- does not appear to have been used very much. The motor works and we have played a record on this machine a few months back and it sounded pretty good. The only thing I see that is really an issue is the tone arm bracket/holder/swivel(not sure what that black piece is called) It has been broken(see pictures) and needs repaired or replaced. I have most. If not all, of the pieces to put it back together(also shown in picture) This has a very nice reproducer and the original needle box in the bracket with a couple needles in it. Vintage or Antique Hartmann Tourobe Wardrobe Travel Steamer Trunk Suitcase
This is an antique or vintage Hartmann Tourobe made in Racine WI travel wardrobe trunk. Trunk measures about 35" x 20" x 12" This has been used. There are surface scratch/rub marks on the outside of the trunk, the leather handle is broken off, the closures work but there is not a key to lock them. Trunk is has markings on the end that say Lt. Comdr. Johnstone MCVS U.S.N.R. on the end and a sticker that says Gibalterized. The Hartmann Tourobe Racine Wi sticker is intact. There are travel stickers attached to the outside and a tag that says Railway Express, Inc. War Won't Wait, if that helps to date it. This outside is black with metal, and not sure what the main material is, maybe a pressed wood. The inside is blue with 3 compartments on the fold down side, 2 of the compartments have cloth ties, the top cloth part folds ... moreover and snaps at the end, snap pieces are intact. The other side has 2 wood hangers and the metal pieces that hold the hangers fold in to hold the hangers and can be folded out when the trunk is opened. There are some water marks on the cloth cover of the fold out part and a musty smell to the inside of the trunk. The red stripes on the outside of the trunk do have rub marks.

Beautiful Antique French Suitcase. Quality brass fittings. The inside is all in very good condition. A little faint foxing on the linen. There is a lift out compartment. To separate the clothing. All the straps are present and in good condition. All the corners are leather reinforced. There are brass protectors on the bottom and the sides. The brass locks close beautifully but there is no key. The outside of the case is a little scratched and marked, as would be expected with a suitcase of this age. There is some staining on the back and side of the case, as can be seen in photo five. The initials on the top are P.J.F. The locks are signed JDEHA. I would date it to 1920/30's. This is a really AMAZING custom made vanity train case from. I'm guessing, Victorian or Edwardian times. It is a true collectors item museum piece. The leather on the case and all the accessories is a very dark green. All of the jars and containers have vermeil caps(i.e. Real gold overlaid on sterling silver) The caps have are very ornately engraved with the initials"FM" All of the individual implements also have matching initials inlaid in gold. Everything is made from the most luxurious materials available at that time: leather, precious metal, leather, crystal, boar bristle, etc. When I purchased this train case in 1996, I was told that the provenance was that this was from the estate of one of the family members who own(owned? the Crane paper company. You are looking at a gem. In storage for nearly 70+ years this was advertised as a travel case in 1939. It is in near mint condition. If you notice any spots on the front picture these are glare marks. The wood. The metal, the straps, the entire body is without little wear or deterioration. It measures aprox. 22 in. by 22in. and 6 in. deep. light weight) The entire case opens up on to the floor, the hinges line up perfectly to close. There are some surface scratches to the top of the front lid, but face the inside of the case and are not visible when closed. These could be easily touched up with some brown paint, but I have not done so. It is black in color and has the look of leather however I think that the leather is a faux leather except for the handle which I believe is real leather. It has a good look to it. This antique suitcase was found in Singapore and was in really rough condition when first found. It has been completely restored and retains all of its original hardware. Except for the lock which long ago disappeared. It is at least 75 years old. Note the fine hand dovetailed construction. The wood appears to be mahogany. The top and bottom are made of Masonite to lighten the suitcase(it weighs 15 pounds before packing) This was personally restored by yours truly and has a low satin varnish finish. I had this listed before and a kind e Bayer sent me more information on it. It is a military suitcase issued to soldiers. Both enlisted and officers The name Barbora is a name of a mine that was renamed 1951. Zdar Buh" means Praise the Lord, traditional greeting of miners. There are some more numbers and letters in ink inside the box, possibly a serial# of his rifle. Also the owners name carved in front. The box is 24" long, 12" high and 12" deep.The box corners are mitered and there is one tray inside. The top is lightly rounded. The last picture shows some carvings on the top side. Durable top grain cowhide, and I gotta tell you this came from one big bull- this is some of the heaviest grain leather you will ever see- at first I thought it might be elephant or walrus) until I found the tag inside that said Top Grain Cow Hide. The nickel flip latches made by the Presto Lock Corp that lock and pop open easily when you slide the round release button. The inside is made with forest green satin, and it has a separator flap that can be hung on a bracket with an adjustable strap to keep your slacks held still while in the fold up pant hangers, and when you pull it down, it uncovers the slack hanger section that comes down by releasing a pair of metal release hooks, and pulling down on the braided cord. Once you pull down the first portion of this section, there is another release hook on the right side that allows you to pull it forward to let the slacks hang freely over the bottom of the case, as you can see in picture 10. It has normal wear(scuffs. Edge protectors have scratches, and someone used a marker to cross something out on the bottom of one side) All the hardware is original and functioning. The Hartmann badge is still on and it even has the little patent label still attached. There is a small clear plastic piece with the Hartmann name on it and a piece of paper slipped in it with letters and numbers on. Not sure what it is but it is there and the owners initials are visible by the handle Inside is in excellent condition with no rips or tears in the fabric and all snaps still there. A fantastic decorative piece. In great condition. Very attractive craqueleure effect in the still very solid leather construction- could be put to use if so desired. The only exterior defect- a damaged handle- which only adds to the vintage look of this beautiful suitcase. The inside of the suitcase has a classic plaid and leather motif with a zippered storage compartment. Also written in marker on the inside as shown in the photo is the name and address of someone from Bloomington Indiana. There is some age and discoloration near the bottom of the inside. It weighs about 7- 1/2 pounds As stenciled on the side panel. The suitcase was the property of M.D. Clifford. Pioneer Oregon District Attorney, and Circuit Court Judge, in the Grant County and Baker County region during the 1890 to 1910 period(see biographical information below) This 100+ year old suitcase is in good overall condition. The stitching. Quilted interior fabric, straps, and hardware are in great condition. The suitcase has scuffs. Scratches and wear associated with normal use and age. The leather is worn and possesses a nice patina. It has dried ... moreout to some extent and(at the discretion of high bidder) could use some care and/or restoration(I have done nothing to the suitcase) There is one hole in the top(lid) panel that goes through the leather from the outside, but does not carry through all the way to the interior. No odor. I do not have the key. But the lock latch works fine by pushing up or pulling down the circle around the key hole. The two side clips close perfectly. The front panel(the surface with the hardware) is very slightly warped. But not to the extent that the lid closing is affected. Nor in such a manner that the hardware is rendered non-functional. Antique vtg Victor Victrola No 2 reproducer wood travel suitcase works & as-is
Old travel type Victor victrola with No 2 reproducer. The crank winds up and the turntable goes at a nice speed. Here's what doesn't work. You need a new rubber flange gasket for the reproducer(there's one on ebay# 380847210582) Also as you can see the lid is not attached to the base and there is damage to the lid. Also. One of the spring door compartments on the lid doesn't spring anymore. Great restoration project and obviously sold as-is. Local pick-up waives all SH.
