I have 6 of these in the same good condition. Iced teaspoon in the 1908 LA VIGNE pattern marked: 1881 Rogers A1" the word Rogers is between the 2"R" in wreath trademark symbols. Piece is in very good condition. The raised pattern is quite clear showing very little wear. Interior of the bowl has a some tiny discolored spots. Where the silver has blistered. There are few nicks and scratches from storage with other flatware it is otherwise very good. There is a faint amount of heel wear which a good polishing will remove. Overall this is in very good condition and a particularly rare piece to find in this pattern. Take a good look at the photos as piece is being sold as-is. Piece will need to be thoroughly polished when buyer receives it.

LaVigne, which has many pronunciations, features grapes and leaves around a cartouche with more spilling down the handle, the design being fairly deep and sculptural. The finish comes in both brite and French gray. 1881 Rogers is a totally different company from 1847 Rogers. LaVigne is one of the most collected of all patterns of silverplated flatware. When entertaining, there is always the problem of what to use with the dessert course. Taking everyone's salad ... morefork to wash up, and returning them for dessert is difficult to do very gracefully. The pastry fork is designed for eating the dessert, and can be laid on the table with the regular silver. Pastry forks are used for eating just about any kind of baked dessert, not just pastry. The pastry fork has one tine thicker than the rest, which is used for cutting the food into bite sized pieces. This tine also tends to taper to a point, so it can be used as a probe to check for things like cherry pits. Biting a cherry pit is a memorable experience. The 3 pastry forks offered here measure about 6 7/8. These are not pieces of new silver. They show the patina of as much as 105 years of careful use. There are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. There is no monogram. Silver is softly lustrous. There is no silver loss. The pattern is crisp and clear. 1881 Rogers silverplate, 5 boullion spoons, "grape", LaVigne
5 1881 Rogers silverplate boullion spoons. Pattern is LaVigne(grapevine" circa 1908. Condition is very good. These were from an estate and were polished and have fine scratches only; appear to have been unused or used very little. I prefer a little tarnish on the pattern to make it more distinct. Length is 4.75 inches.
