This listing is for a Service for 12 Community Plate Silverplate Silverware. It is in the Grosvenor Pattern. It is NOT monogrammed. This includes the following: 12 forks 12 knives 12 teasoons 12 tablespoons or serving spoons 6 soup spoons 1 butter knife 1 pickle fork 1 jelly spoon 1 large ladle These are in a lined wood box. I do not not if they are in the original box or not and also do not know if the fabric is tarnish proof. These are in very nice age-appropriate condition. This would make a nice start for a great set of"silverplate" flatware. It looks really nice on a festive table. The shipping costs are high. But it weighs a lot with the flatware AND the chest.

Note: Grosvenor is a boy's name of French Origin. Oneida Community started production of silver-plated flatware and hollow-ware in 1899 using the"Community Plate" mark. The company originated in Oneida. New York. For sale is a used Master Butter Knife in the Grosvenor pattern. It is marked Community Plate. This is a silver plate piece. It has NO monograms. I would consider it reasonable condition considering its age. It is being sold as-is which is vintage condition. I have had this stored for many years. It came out of an estate near Dallas. TX. This is a set of 6 vintage or antique matching silver plated dinner knives in the GROSVENOR pattern. Each just under 8¾" long. The knives have hollow handles and stainless steel blades, with each blade signed DE LUXE STAINLESS(see last photo below) The set was manufactured by COMMUNITY PLATE(ONEIDA) and it dates back to 1921. There are no monograms on the knife handles. This is a relatively heavy. Very substantial set of silver. It's really lovely, with a sort of late classic ART NOUVEAU pattern. Consisting of a raised and beaded design on each handle(see photos below) There's even a small blank space on each handle for you to engrave your initials, if you are so inclined(I understand this was a very common practice in the early part of the 20th century) The set is in overall very good to excellent condition. Oneida Community Plate Silver Plated Flatware; Grosvenor Pattern; Forks & Spoons
You are bidding on a group of silver plated flatware. It is Community Plate by Oneida and I believe is part of the Grosvenor pattern. You get five forks and five spoons. The spoons are larger so I guess would be considered as being soup spoons. They are all monogrammed with the letter D. The backs read Community Plate. There are no defects to them but they could all use a good cleaning. The spoons are 7-1/8" long and 1-3/4" wide at the widest point. The forks are 7-5/8" long and just shy of 1" wide. 30 Piece Set Antique Silverplate Community Plate Flatware Grosvenor Pattern 1921. Includes 5 various serving pieces. 5 dinner forks, 12 teaspoons and 8 table spoons. Total of 30 pieces all in same Grosvenor pattern by Community Plate. Pattern was introduced 1921 and these are early older pieces. Some tarnish but essentially fine and will look great after polishing. The Oneida Community. Ltd. produced silver-plated flatware bearing the Community Plate mark. John Humphrey Noyes founded the Oneida Community, located in Oneida, N.Y. in 1848. The Oneida Community was a religious community, the members of which believed they were the only individuals capable of achieving spiritual perfection in this world. Complex religious beliefs, some of which challenged the social mores of the period, and factionalism lead to a dissolution of the community's"Biblical ... moreCommunism" in 1880. The Wallingford. Conn. branch of the Oneida Community began producing tin-plated spoons in 1877. Silver-plate production moved first to Niagara Falls, N.Y. and later Sherrill, N.Y. In 1895 Pierrepont Noyes, John Noyes' son, became president of the silverware business. Under Pierrepont Noyes' direction, the company switched its emphasis from inexpensive silverware to quality production pieces. In 1901 Oneida introduced the Avalon pattern, the first pattern in its new"Community Silver, later"Community Plate" line. Grosvenor N. Allen designed the Grosvenor pattern. Incorporating decorative elements from the Adam design tradition. E.g. trailing bellflowers, the pattern received a design patent in 1921. It was produced actively through the 1940s with special production runs as late as 1956. Oneida produced at least 77 flatware pieces or sets and 38 pieces of hollowware(bread trays. Etc. in the Grosvenor pattern. In the 1930s, Oneida complemented the flatware line by issuing Grosvenor china and crystal.
