Oneida Silverplate Prestige Gay Adventure Carving Knife and Matching Fork
This auction is for a carving knife and matching fork in Oneida's Prestige Gay Adventure pattern. I bought them in 1955 along with other silverware and I don;t remember ever using them. They are like new except the blade on the knife is dull. These articles were coated in 4 layers of silver known as quadruple plating which is why you rarely see any with plate worn through. Up for auction is a pierced serving spoon by Oneida in the pattern Gay Adventure which was first introduced in 1955. It has been lightly polished and shows no pitting or plate loss. It is very shiny and in very good condition. It measures 8 5/8" The picture shows a regular serving spoon as well which i am throwing in as a bonus spoon for free. It has some deep scratches at the top but otherwise is in excellent condition. 4 Fairy wands I have a fairy wand rating system that I use to base my pricing and description: 5 Fairy Wands- Pristine with no pitting or plate loss. They are shiny with minimal surface scratches. EXCELLENT• 4 Fairy Wands- No Pitting or plate loss. But have surface scratches from regular polishing. VERY GOOD• 3 Fairy Wands- May have a couple of pinpoint pits or minor plate loss. May have one or two heavier scratches ... moreor a patina from regular polishing. GOOD• 2 Fairy Wands- May have heavier scratches and are best for older sets. FAIR• 1 Fairy Wand- These are for crafting or replating. All of my silverplate is lightly polished in order to inspect for any issues. I try to take pictures that show all the details.
