This magnificent Moro Barong Filipino sword features an elaborately carved wooden scabbard and a wrapped silver grip. This is the tribal weapon of Sulu. Mindanao and North Borneo. It dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. The sword within the scabbard is 25 1/2" in length. The scabbard is 4" wide at the top and the wood holds a lustrous. Rich patina. The vertical sides of the scabbard are split in the traditional way so the sword may be drawn swiftly. The leather thongs are in place to hold it together(not original- added by consignor. One of the bands is stamped with Imperial Ottoman silver hallmarks tughra(probable of the Mahmud I(Sultan of the Ottoman Empire 1730 to 1754) but worn out, so it is uncertain) and a small square assay mark. This is a very rare early Turkish Ottoman blade. Similar blades are in the collection of the Top Kapi Saray Museum, and are dated to the 15th-17th century. In the 18th century most of the 15th-17th century old Turkish blades were remounted to the new fashion of mounting, with the Pistol shape hilt, so even in Turkish museums most of the ottoman swords have later mountings. This sword certainly has been remounted, due to the reinforcing metal zigzag band mounted on the ricasso of the blade under the crossguard. Examples of almost identical ottoman blades dated from the 15th to 17th century(with 18th century mountings) can be seen in the Topkapi Sarayi Museum and the Askeri Museum in Istanbul Turkey. Up for auction is a very old Antique 18th century Turkish Ottoman Yatagan sword with the characteristic ear shaped hilt mounted in silver gilt metal decorated with pedaled flowers and other shapes. This late 18th or early 20th century hand forged sword blade is of single edge with a narrow fuller and decorated in what looks to be tarnished silver inlay. That is just what I think. I am sure those that know these swords well will know what it is and what it says. The other side of the blade has the seal of Solomon or also know as David’s Star. This is just 1 of 2 swords that I have listed. Both swords came from the same collection that has been in storage since 1947. So these are fresh to the market and are untouched since then. This is the first of the two I have to offer, so this auction is for one sword that you see in the rest of the photos. ... moreThe sword measures 29 1/2" long, blade alone is 23 3/4"long and 1 3/8" wide. The handles are just beautiful with fine color from age. Back spine of sword blade has a decorated spine instead of just being flat. Condition: Blade has a slight bend when held out straight, this is so slight almost not worth the mention. Handles have some very slight movement to them. The bolsters or decoration just forward of the handles have a gap that you can squeeze together and close the gap. Other then that the sword blade needs to be cleaned, no pitting just surface rust if that is what you want to call it. Again this sword is unmolested by human hands so the cleaning will be up to you. This is an unusual sword. ... moreRare in the sense that I have never come across one like this. It is of the cruciform style with a wide fullered single edged blade. The blade back rib is flat which was a prominent style for the French, though this style was made in England and in Germany at various times. The Brass guard and hilt has engraving on it and a fine dark, old patina. The blade is also engraved, but it is worn so smooth it is not real clear. though it does resemble some of the German and English styling in the etching. I would date this sword in the mid 1800s based on design and patina. The straight blade is quite long measuring 28 inches and the sword total length is 34 1/2 inches. This may have been a parade or ceremonial sword as it obviously was taken in and out of the scabbard repeatedly to cause wear on the blade, though it is a heavy blade like that of a fighting saber. This one is particularly rare because it has the original old double arm bands for carrying the sword. They are one of the few cultures who wore their swords around their arms as they traveled. This is a very large sword for a Tuareg broadsword. Probably carried by someone in the clan of higher rank. Measures 34 1/2 inches in scabbard with a blade measuring 29.5 inches. The Tuareg were the Warriors of the Sahara. From Egypt to the borders of The Sahara Desert, they were sometime referred to as the protectors of the Sahara. The history of the Tuareg often places them as the Mad Mahdi Tribe, or at other times as the fighting faction or warriors of the Dankali who primarily occupied the s. west area near the Red Sea. However, they have been known to protect the cultures from the Western parts of Africa to the Area of Egypt. History shows that they were truely the best of the best when it came to fighting a battle. In a sense it is somewhat of a mystery. Antique French 19th Century Rondel Dagger Short Sword w/ Triangular Blade Scarce French Rondel Parrying dagger from mid- to late-1800's in 15th century style from France with a steel pommel and guard. Stiff triangular blade with hollowed fullers. 19.5 inches overall with 14 inch blade. Grip may be an organic based resin material. Manufactured in mid- to late-1800's as a dueling dagger used in conjunction with an epee' or rapier similar to the manner a main gauche is used. This one could have been used in a Paris fencing school that may have specilized in the art of dueling but this blade does not feature the standard fencing blunt training tip so it was either for serious dueling training or for a real sidearm. This rondel was with others I acquired that were all of French origin. Weathered and worn blade with minor pitting. Chip ... morein grip, grip cracked with age, roundel top and bottom guards quite loose on hilt, blade tip worn down. Someone had tried to remove the pommel cap recently and plier marks are readily apparent on the cap. But still in fair condition for its age. Shipping via US Priority Mail. The name"rondel" is derived from the disc-shaped guards of the dagger. Also called a"roundel" dagger. These daggers were in general use from the mid-14th until the mid-16th century but they may have first appeared around the year 1300. One feature of rondel daggers is the rigid blade and very acute point. The slim, long blades were capable of piercing mail and finding the small openings in the foe's plate armour. Rondel daggers are also used as a“parrying” dagger in rapier or epee’ dueling.

A gorgeous and very large 19th C. Caucasian kindjal qama from the Southern Caucasus region. Possibly made for a rich Russian or European client. This example is dated to the early 19th C. 1802. It is covered profusely in very thick koftgari. Not thin as usual on these types of pieces, but thick and raised over the blade. It has profuse inscriptions on both sides of the blade. Gold remains in 90% condition. The best example of this kind I've ever seen, a true heirloom example. Antique North Africa Arabic Islamic Sudanese Sudan Chad Kaskara Sword c1890 This is for an antique North Africa Arabic Islamic Sudanese Sudan Chad Kaskara Sword. Circa 1890. The very long broad steel blade. Is straight and double edged, with a slight taper towards the tip, and a short fullar along either side. This blade is likely a European trade blade. The sword has a typical Kaskara hilt. With an silver painted iron cruxiform cross-guard, with a short langet on each side, and a flat disk pommel. The round wooden grip and pommel are wrapped in leather. This sword measures 925 mm in total length. The blade measures 790 mm in length. The sword weighs 796 grams. The condition is generally very good. The blade has light surface marks, with small chips to the edges, while the leather remains in very good condition throughout, with typical age ... morerelated wear. Please see images. The Kaskara sword is a sword worn by peoples in central and eastern Sudan. From Chad through Darfur and across to the Red Sea province. The kaskara is believed to have originated around the early 14th century, and may represent a localized survival of the straight, double-edged medieval Arab sword. Guaranteed old& original. Antique masonic templar knights ceremonial sword & scabbard treasure
You are looking at a rare 1880-1910 masonic knights templar ceremonial sword and scabbard. The engraving and detail on the sword is truly magnific and very elegant. It has William Turner and st.andrew commandery no. 49 engraved on sword. It has by crown be thou faithful onto death and will- give thee a crown of life engraved on scabbard around the crown and cross. It has a knight in armour. Skulls, Crosses and more detailings. It shows age and has some age issues. The sword has some rust on it. The scabbard and handle has tarnish on it. As seen in pics. The handle is loose. Antique Knights Templar Dagger Stiletto with Scabbard Vintage Masonic Sword
Beautiful. Well-made, original antique stiletto-type dagger featuring Knights Templar and Masonic symbols, circa late 1800s. 9 5/8" including the scabbard. Blade is 5" Condition is excellent except that most of the red enamel has chipped out of the cross on the scabbard. Blade is excellent with its original unsharpened edge, and a very sharp tip. Blade is etched with the Knights Templar symbol on one side and the Masonic symbol on the other side. The handle does not appear to be bone(no pores) nor does it appear to be celluloid(it passes the hot needle melt test) and it does have what look like growth lines. It is beautifully hand-carved and undamaged. The scabbard has three loops on the back, probably for a suspension chain. The insert in the throat of the scabbard is not attached and is easily removed(loose) see 4th photo) Blade ... moreis held tight inside the scabbard with springs that look like wood slats. The sword/knife measures 32in. overall. With a sharp and thick 14in. blade. The elongated blade is wood with a small brass guard and ferrule and a brass pommel piece. This is a true fighting example and measures 23.5in. overall. With a 13.5 in. blade. The blade is thick and heavy, typical of barongs. The hilt is lovely carved burl wood, with intricate small carvings to the pommel, more typical to fighting examples. There are woven bands along the hilt for better grip, fitted all along the silver ferrule and wooden portion. The scabbard is lovely carved hardwood and is bound with its original rope and rattan(restored) There is a missing ... morepiece at the foot of the scabbard only on the back side(see pics) Lovely patination throughout!
