It is solid metal with overall deterioration that can be seen in photos. The socket has a couple pieces missing from the reinforcement ring and the tip shows some deterioration. Can be seen in photos. Blade has a little deterioration on bottom corner. This spearhead was probably used on a throwing spear due to its size and weight. It would have been very lethal. Very rare example with forged seam socket developing to a strong medial ridge flanked by the leaf shaped veins. Specifically designed to penetrate Roman mail and plate armor. About 400 BC the Celts descended from the Alps and drove the Etruscans from the Po River Valley. Thus. The rise of their culture chronologically parallels that of the Roman Empire. Of larger stature than the Romans, Celtic warriors were fierce and fearless fighters and, by 390 BC they had captured Rome. With a raised circular boss in the centre of each. The bosses are split into four quarters by a thick cross, with each section containing red enamel.
