Columbus Ohio on the blade near the handle. As pictured. Found at a local estate of an old sword collector. It measures 39" long. The sword and scabbard are both metal. The blade is highly decorated in gold toned images of knights, crosses, scrolls, and more. Both sword and scabbard have the same name etched in the center, I believe it says S. R. Hillebert. The blade is still sharp and clean but does have some minor spots towards the edge of the blade. The sheath has some minor oxidation and aging. The iron Sukashi Tsuba is of a larger diamater than usual and the cut sections include a Hyotan(gourd) and other unrecognisable shapes. There are six gold-leaf inlayed sections on one side with designs including a shell. Square and other shapes. The gold inlay is worn away around the edges. On the other side of the Tsuba, 4 of the 7 inlayed designs are missing, leaving an indent of the original shape. The three remaining designs are worn, but still visible. The blade is unknown and has Kiji-Nakago(kijimata-Nakago) Hira-Uchi shape, Kamakura period ca.1200-1300 era made Bizen school blade. The blade is in old full polish. Shows tiny scratches on surface but no stain, no rust and in very good condition. The temper line is wavy Notare with Nioi temper pattern and maru temper at the point. The forging grain is tight Itame-hada and one forging flaw. It measures 44.5cm" tip to the guard. 32.4cm" cutting edge, 3cm" width, 6mm thickness at the notch and 54cm" in mountings. Antique Sub Saharan Tuareg Double Edged Dagger Short Sword With Leather Sheath
You are bidding on an old Tuareg dagger/short sword. These are sometimes attributed to the tribal peoples of the Sudan& are also known as a Telek sword daggers. This double edged knife is about 19 1/2" long with some simple decorations to the tip of the blade. The leather sheath is also simply tooled with tribal decorations& a leather frill at the tip. The condition is fair. There is rust& pitting to the blade(we haven't cleaned it in any way) the leather straps on the hilt& sheath are broken. But Im skeptical by nature. Four plate construction with rivets and old old old. Absolutely a very old object with great patina, certainly not modern and aged. of what Im sure and I guarantee that. So what to say? It is an ovoid helmet of respectable signs of age to it. It is constructed from four iron plates rivetted toghether. There are a lot of holes on the border where perhaps a chainmail was fixed once. It measures 23 x 18 cm and 18 cm in height. I decided to list this helmet for a ridiculous starting price. So. We are pleased to offer you this authentic and very old Russian Imperial era sword. Shashka. Genuine production made 140 years back- somewhere in the middle of the 1870's. The specimen comes from the world famous"Zlatoust" Златоусть/ region in Russia which is well-known for their ironwork masterpieces. The sword has taken part in the Russian-Ottoman(Turkish) war for the liberation of Bulgaria(1877-1878) Collectable item which has embed part of the history and an end of an era! EXTREMELY SHARP TIP! The whole sword is long around 25 inches. 64cm. It has markings of the manufacturer(Zlatoust) and year. The steel used for making those blades was just exceptional and without equivalent at that time. It comes with its original metal sheath. Here's a old. Estate sale find, what I'm told is a Spanish American War Sword. It is embossed on blade tang- ARTILLERIA FABRICA DE TOLEDO and on the other side- 16176. On hand guard is stamped 03& U on other side. The wood checkered handles have no cracks. The sword is in used uncleaned condition, must have seen action has some what appear to be other sword contact marks. Total length is approx. 38" and blade is 32" It comes with scabbard. Has some writing on top but can't make it out- see picture. The top flange pc. is missing. It has a couple dents and holes at bottom, also pictured. Neat Old Piece of History! Back in the 1860's the Odd Fellows bought land in whats now known as Potter Highlands Historic District for an Odd Fellows cemetary at th e same time Walter Potter bought land at the same place. Rev. Walter M. Potter was sent from Boston in the 1860's to start the 1st Baptist church which was better known as the Dug Out. The sword is complete with no breaks or cracks. The gold is faded and the leather on the handle is all intact. I've seen alot of these swords sell for high dollar amounts but I don't see too many with the decorative chain like this one. Civil War Model 1852 Naval Officers Sword Made By W H Horstmann & Sons - Antique
Up for auction is a very nice example of an 1852 Naval Officer's sword from circa mid-1850. You can tell from the number of stars on the blade. 31- which represents the states, that were 31 after the addition of California in 1850- and stayed that way for 7 years; putting this sword at 1850-1857. Since W H Horstmann marked his swords in the manner of W H Hortmanns& Sons, as this one is til 1863, it would definitely be Pre-Civil War. The sword has some mild discoloration from age, and pitting on the spine of the sword in one 1" area, right where the"Proof" as in IRON PROOF would be. The blade is beautifully etched, but comes with NO SCABBARD and the grip could use some serious attention. Mainly, just the wire, since the rayskin is still intact. THIS SWORD S BLADE MEASURES 22 1/2" AND THE TOTAL LENGTH IS 27 1/2" THE SWORD AND SCABBARD ARE IN GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE. THERE IS SOME DINGS TO THE BLADE OF THE SWORD AND SOME DENTING TO THE SCABBARD AS SEEN IN THE PICTURES. Antique Mexican Army Sword 1840s
Here is a Mexican Army sword. Unmarked. The sword dates to around the 1840s. Most all of the Mexican Army swords came out of Germany. The sword is 31" overall with a 36" blade. The leather grim cover is long gone. THe sword was cut down at some point. May of been damaged or more likly shorten to fit a shorter person. Most Mexicans of that time were not much over 5 ft. Mexicans passed these swords down as they were used up. Shows plenty of wear and tear. I'm sure this on saw service into the Mexican Revolution era. It came from a Santa Fe arms collection.
