A very good example of a Chinese Military Dadao from the Republican/ Warlord period. This heavy fighting sword measures just under 78cms in its regulation leather scabbard. Out of of the scabbard it is 76.5cms long with a blade length of 54.5cms long. The two handed hilt is bound with faded blue string to the grip and a brass pommel. Collar and Tsuba like guard. The blade is a broad heavy type. Typical of the Dadao form. There are Characters to the left face of the blade and double fuller to each side under the spine. Genuine Chinese Qing Dynasty Antique Sword/Knife Used In Boxer Rebellion
Here for sale is a very collectable Chinese 19th century sword used in Chinese boxer rebellion movement around end of 19th century. The wood handle was used heavily and has a nice patina. The blade has two parallel blood grooves on each side. The edge of this blade is still solid and sharp today although it has old oxidation and the imperfection on the tip. I bought it from an auction of a collection of antique weapons. It was likely brought back as a war memorabilia by a US army officer/soldier after boxer rebellion. Which was suppressed by foreign armies including US marine in 1900. This weapon has its historic value and should be collected into museums, such as the history museum of China. Offered without reserve is this antique estate sterling silver dinner knife by Reed and Barton in the magnificent FRANCIS I pattern. Introduced in 1907. The knife is 8 7/8 inches in length. Although the knives are never marked in this pattern this did come from a set which all had the old Reed and Barton mark(EAGLE) R(LION) STERLING. There are no engraved monograms. This auction is for one antique Gorham Sterling Silver Solid Flat Handle Master Butter Knife in the Etruscan pattern. This item is from my Mom's estate. Inherited from my paternal grandmother, and has been used. The Etruscan pattern is simple and elegant, with stepped, squared-off handle end with a Greek Key pattern. There is a ridge on either side, just inside of the handle edge, the length of the tapered handle. There is oxidation in the recesses of the key design and ... morethe recess between the ridge and the edge of the handle, accenting the lines of the piece. The handle is gently curved and the blade has a curved notch in the top edge and curved point. This is thick, sturdy, solid Sterling Silver nearly 2mm thick. It's a simple and elegant piece. The title designation"Solid Handle" is to differentiate the piece from the hollow handle butter knife; this does NOT mean that only the handle is solid Sterling Silver. The entire knife is solid Sterling Silver. CONDITION: Fair antique. Pre-owned, used, with no large structural damage; not misshapen, other than tip of the blade, which has a tiny push-scrape, blunting and roughing it a little, when you look really closely. Please see the photo. It's very tiny, and it was difficult to get clear focus on it. There is no monogram or monogram removal. Most signs of use are on the blade, some use scratches, fine polishing marks, some small dings on the bottom and a couple of tinier ones on top. There are some on the handle as well. The blade has the expected carbon finish staining/patina. There is no pitting on the blade. Everything is nice and tight on this knife with absolutely no movement. The stacked leather on this knife is in perfect condition with no dryness or gapping. The bakelite pommel has absolutely no chips or dings. The leather scabbard is in fair condition with a short 1/4" slice at the left throat rivet. And a 3/4" slice at the right throat rivet. There are some stitches pulled through at the tip of the sheath. The keeper strap and snap are in good condition. Japanese WWII Bayonet with Hook Crossguard and Scabbard An exceptionally nice piece of WWII War Militia. I believe it is from around 1936-45. Tokyo Arsenal prior to 1936 or Kokura Arsenal 1936-45. I've tried to find one with the same Japanese marking on it. But I know it is no more than 1945 in age. Hook cross guard. Pommel Shape is Birdshed Contoured. Contoured grip held with two screws. It is about 20 inches in length and the blade is about 15 5/8 inches. It has a japanese symbol on it(see picture) The blade is in good condition but shows some wear from the scabbard. Scabbard is in good condition. Rusted from age(see pictures) The end of the Bayonet says: 387782 Overall both bayonet and scabbard are in good condition. Solid 800 Silver 18K gold Gaucho Knife Pin Antique 70x11mm 6.3g
Tested solid silver and marked: 800. the yellow gold pieces test 18K) This was likely made in Argentina. This is a miniature of the authentic gaucho knives of Argentina with 800 silver and 18K gold. The knife is hard and can be used for other purposes like as a letter opener. I replaced the once broken chain. See photos for size. The gaucho was a cowboy of Latin America. A people-group now fading into modernization. A goucho's knife was the most important tool of survival. Often the sheath and handle were made of carved 800 silver with pieces of 18K gold overlay. The blades were usually made of steel instead of 800 silver, but this pin has a silver blade. Night stories of Lobizon, the South American werewolf, and any other beast one can imagine, probably lead to the use of silver and gold to harness one's blade. What we are finding ... morenow is that silver and gold do ward off the beasts of infection. So, the silver and gold in the mate straw/cup and the gaucho blade actually were helping keep our gauchos safe. All of these items are solid sterling silver and have been tested regardless of markings. All stones are natural unless otherwise specified. I do test stones. This bayonet is in good used but not abused condition and being sold as is. It could probably cleaned up and look a lot better than it does in the photographs but we'll leave that up to the winning bidder. It measures 27 1/2" overall with the blade measuring 22 5/8" All markings that I could find on the bayonet and scabbard are shown in the photographs. The reading on top of the blade ends with what I believe to read 1872 but can't say for certain because only the top half of the number is visible. Bayonet has serial number A 72778 and the scabbard is either K or R 24862. Here is a lovely antique Victorian/ Edwardian fruit knife made of Sterling silver and mother of pearl. The handle is beautifully carved with sort of scallop and dot decoration along with leaf pattern too. And here is a rectangular blank cartouche as well. The other side has carved petal/ star decoration on it. The blade is beautifully carved on one side and is fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1901. The makers mark is upside down. And is GGR for Sutherland& Roden(George Guirren Rhoden. The blade is stiff. And opens well, stopping at the 90 degree angle first. The knife measures approx 3 inches long when closed and approx 5 inches when open. In overall very good condition. With very little age and use wear. See pics. Antique child size 3 piece gold plated silverware set fork spoon knife baby gift
Found this amazing set at an estate sale. Antique child size fork. Spoon, and knife set from the 1890s. Very old, in mint condition. Looks to be goldplated over silver. I was told it was their grandmother's, Louise Smith, who was born in 1887 and passed away in 1974. No markings. The flower pattern on the handles is different on both sides, so look at the pictures for the details. The knife is 7" long with a 1/2" wide blade. The fork is 6" long and has 4 tines. The spoon is 5" long. I've never come across a set so old and the condition is fantastic. Would make a wonderful gift for new parents, or the collector. This item comes from a smoke free. Pet free home. I only accept Paypal.
