Found at estate sale: This is an Antique James Tufts Triple Silverplate Victorian Butter Dish. James Tufts. From Boston, started his silverplate business in 1875 and sold the company in 1895. He died in 1902. This footed butter dish stands 12.25" tall to the top of the stand and 7.5" wide, and has lovely flower decorations on the feet and handle and an intricate design on the band around the base. There are flaws from age and use: the inner plate is very scratched and has some dents on the rim; the inside bottom of the dish has some corrosive spots; the lid has one ding and some superficial dents, scratches, and the finial on the lid has damage to 2 of the balls on one side. Still a very nice antique Victorian butter ... moredish especially with the carrying handle and intricate footed designs. Included is a silverplate butter knife that is marked on the back: Simeon L. George H. Rogers Company- pat. 1900. It is not original to the butter dish and does not sit down inside the knife holders properly. But it came with this piece and will be included. A really fabulous Victorian stag handle folding ... moremilitary officers campaign knife.could have been taken to any number of MILITARY WARS around the world.or folding bowie hunting knife as some folks call them. As you can see the blade tip has an unusual brass sheath.it is sharp and I suppose could be used to defend yourself if you kept a hold of the steel curver underside bit with your first finger whilst holding the knife. it all fits well and WOULD use like this. the steel curved bit.this flicks off and then you could use it as a short knife. To get the blade out.you must first move the little hinged steel loop thing.just pull that up towards the brass finger guard. and the blade hinges out. then locks into position.fold out the blade which is a single edge and sharp. the blade has a makers name KGW.The blade is locked in position now. to get it back in pull up the small iron loop hinge to a certain place and the blade folds back in. As you can see it has abit of staining on the brass and steel. the handles are in really good shape. The knife is 6 and half inch long when folded and 9 and three quarters of an inch long with the blade out.it all weighs approx.187grams Please see c

Until about 1870, the Bowie knife played a major role in all walks of life in America from the sophisticated class of the well-to-do, to the politician, to the frontiersman, to the gambler, to the soldier. Major historical events such as the Mexican War, the California Gold Rush, and the Civil War contributed greatly to the demand for these self-defense weapons. This is a large early. C.1840's, Bowie knife from the collection of N. Flayderman and is pictured on page 114 in his book"The BOWIE KNIFE" Maker's name is stamped deeply ... moreinto the tang"JAMES ROGERS& Co. CELEBRATED/ MAKE SHEFFIELD" Also deeply stamped parallel to the blade are the words, CAST STEEL/ BOWIE KNIFE" in a oval panel. One piece cast nickle silver handle with dark, ebony or walnut, wood grips. Broad, thick eight inch blade with a 6-1/2" swedge that tapers to a sharp two inch double edge at the tip. This is a very heavy knife and as solid and sturdy as they come. Total length is 13-1/2" with 1/4 inch thick blade. Bowie knife comes with it's original black leather veneer covered sheath. The blade will not fully enter the sheath completely to the hilt. It sticks out about 1/4 of an inch. I had the same problem with a sheath a few years ago and managed to clean it out with a device I made with the tip of a dental pic fastened to a slim piece of wood. It worked in getting the debris cleaned out that had built up in it and the knife went in as it should. I'll leave it up to the buyer to do it this time. Condition is very good with some minor. Dark areas of pitting and a couple minor nicks on sharpened edge of blade. Handle has some minor hair-line cracks. All these can be seen in the photo gallery. Pict

Antique Silver Plate Fish Serving Knife And Fork. Harrison Fisher, Sheffield.
This auction is for a beautiful silver plate fish serving knife and fork with bone/ faux bone handles in the original box. It was made by Harrison Fisher of Sheffield between 1897 and 1899. The marks on the rear of each piece show'H F* S A1 EPNS' After 1900 the firm became Harrison Fisher& Co. So the marks changed to include'Co' after that date. The marks can be seen in the photos. As can be seen the knife has beautiful fish and leaf design on the face along with teardrop style piercing. The fork has a plainer design. The knife weighs 95g and the fork weighs 72g. The whole thing in the box weighs 415g. The knife is approx 27.5cm long and the fork is around 21.5cm. There is some wear marks to the ends of the knife and fork where they have been used and cleaned over the years. The box has some wear and damage to the outer ... morebut this is only to be expected with a much loved item of this age. Here is a fascinating beer collectible which is kind of a box knife sort of thing. Not quite sure what to call it. But you push a button in and knife pushes out not like razor blade type things but more of knife type, little sticky but does work. This does have some wear, but this is fascinating. This says Crown Bottling Co. Grain Belt Beer, and it is about 3 1/2 inches when- I think there was a crown bottling in Mankato Minnesota but it does not give any indication of location. Vintage Antique Fishing Multi Tool Pliers Knife Unknown Maker Here is a very unique fishing tool The handle appears to be Parlain material and the handles are molded Jigged slabs. The overall length of Pliers is 7 3/4" Handles are 3 9/16" These pliers have oxidation and light surface pitting on the knife side of the pliers at the top of the knife. Remainder of knife has metal aging and several spots need some additional cleaning. The construction of the fish knife should put it into the 1930's or earlier. The tool opens and closes properly. The jaws are slightly out of line. 32nd of an inch or less. Here is a list of the obvious tools on these pliers. Hook remover, scaler, knife, line cutter, lead shot pliers, gripping jaws and what appears to be in the style of an antique ink eraser. Check out my other items! Here is a beautiful antique Victorian fruit knife made of Sterling silver and mother of pearl. The handle has carved engraved pattern on it of scroll. Rococo floral decoration, along with a curved silver cartouche with tiny carved zig zag edging on it. The other side has petal/star type decoration. The handle is unusually shaped too. Overall a lovely fruit knife. The blade has top groove detail. And is fully hallmarked for Sheffield 1859, it has Queen Victoria's head on it, and the makers mark is JYC. The blade opens fairly well. Stopping briefly at the 90 degree angle first, but when open, it's noticably wobbly at the pin/hinge- so please note this. I think its where the two parts of the handle are not as tight as they should be. This makes you aware anyway. The knife measures approx 3. 1/2 inches long when closed and approx 5. 3/4 inches when open. In very good overall condition. The blade wobbles as previously mentioned, and the only other thing is a slight bit of damage to the mother of pearl at the very end(pictured) Otherwise just expected age and use wear on such an item as this, a very nice fruit knife. Thus, almost all 19th C. men carried a Side Knife, Folding Dirk/ Bowie or Boot Dagger for self protection during the entire 19th Century and beyond the turn of the century; especially after carrying firearms was outlawed in most states in the 1840's. Here we have a real find and that would be a beautiful"Theater" that looks like it had been made out of an older antique English Bayonet and is Id'd to a member of the 325th GIR[ Glider Infantry Regument]Is a BIG knife measures about 13 1/2 inch overall with 9 inch of that being the blade.I believe the blade was made out of an 19th century English Bayonet. Blade is marked as you can see Enfield with the Crown and VR which was the sovereign marke of Queen Victoria[ 1837-1901] on the reverse is a Crown over an E. Blade has been very nicely made and is wicked sharp! Has some minor grind marks but probably from when it was made. Has a well made thick brass guard. Has the classic leather washer handle with the front washer being a hard fiber one. Has an iron pomel topped by a geared wheel device and an acorn nut. All original. No ... moredamage, leather washers are all fine, handle is tight to the blade. Knife is very well made and has a great"feel" about it when held. A true combat fighting knife. The sheath is as nice as the knife, made out of very heavy leather that is both riveted and stiched together. near the bottom is a stamp that looks like it says inbridge Sons Part of the Hide" Chester Pa. Some of the letters are not visiable so hard to tell exactly. Don't know if this who made the sheath or probably the leather that was used in the sheath. Written into the sheath is SGT R C JONES. 325 GIR then under it St MARIE DU MONT 6-7 1944 and under it GROESBEEk 9-23-1944. from my research these were two battles that the 325th GIR participated in with glider troops playing a large part of.Markings are a bit faint and a bit hard to photographed well but certainly readable. Sheath is in EXCELLENT condition with no damage or problems. leather is fine, not dried out or oil soaked. Width of scabbard is 6.75 inches at widest point. Belt Measures 32.5 inches. Knife measures 12.5 inches. Details on Knife: Measures 12.5 inches total length. Handle measures 5.5 inches. Blade actually tucks up under the silver decorations on the handle. Blade measures about 7 inches not counting the tuck. Knife handle is c lad in 90- 100% silver and decorations are quite beautiful and exquisite. Has lots of scroll work and 3D decorations. Blade is metal/iron/steel and is 7 inches long. Details of the belt: The belt measures 32.5 inches. The back of the belt was a black fabric. The silver wire tests between 90-100% The gold wire tests better than 22K. The two connectors between the scabbard and belt appear to be brass along with the buckle. The complete outfit. Antique Knife Rosewood handle,Pewter bolster. Frontier, trapper, Indian trade
Trade knife. Rosewood handle in fine condition with no chips or splits. Pewter bolsters. Blade has been sharpened. No active rust or pits. 5½ inch blade has a false edge and was only lightly sharpened. The knife 10½ inches total. Dates to the last half of the 19 th century. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK

RARE Antique CARVING SET QUEEN VICTORIA Knife & Fork Silver Plate Portrait
This auction is for a RARE Antique Carving Set made by George Butler of Sheffield featuring an embossed portrait of Queen Victoria. The carving Knife blade is marked GEO BUTLER Co. Trinity Works SHEFFIELD and" REAL TOLEDO Blade" The set has antler handles and the knife measures approximately 16 inches long and the fork 12 inches long. The silver plated ended of the pieces are decorated with the Crowned Head of QUEEN VICTORIA we believe that this set is most likely circa 1890- 1900. The handles are tightly attached to the silver ferrules. There is probably a decorative ball missing on the end of the knife final(maybe a repair) The decoration on the ferrules are thistles(Scotland) Cloverleaf's(IRELAND) and roses for(ENGLAND) The set is still very functional and attractive.
