This was salvaged from an old building ... morehere in PA. It is in nice condition for its age. And is a heavy metal fixture with old porcelain handles. It measures 9 3/4" from the fitting to the top of the handle; about 8" deep from the end of the threaded pipe to the center of the drain hole; and it is 11 1/4" on center from the hot and cold supplies. The center hole for the drain pipe is 2" in diameter. A magnet does not stick to any of the metal, so I assume it is old nickel plated brass. A few old wrench marks on the nuts, but it just adds to the piece.The center plate is marked Viceroy, Top Bell. The faucet handles are marked H& R Mfg. Co. No. 1. The handles turn freely and appear to seal well. A must for any clawfoot tub restoration. Please email any questions before bidding. Buyer pays actual shipping costs. The advertisement& wood were under a bunch of stuff& wet. Thus too nasty to save. Too bad, too. It was cool. I do not know the exact year of this antique valve. As the ad was unreadable around where a copyright notice would have been. From looking at many examples of other valves& ads. I believe 1892-1904 is about the date range. This is just a SWAG estimate based on all of the information I could find. This valve is nickel(not chrome) plated. The plating has dings& scratches. As the valve was found on the floor& piled upon with stuff& junk. Nickel plated valves were often used in bathrooms to match the(then innovative) nickel plated fixtures& drain tubing. The wheel(handle) is a wood composite material. It is dyed. Not painted. The wheel's actually a work of art itself. The disc has a arrow to show the valve shutter's position. Flow direction) The screw is not stuck& the handle comes off. And will be removed for safe shipping. About the composite wheel- In the day. Artisans would make a mold of plaster or green sand. This one was a bit complex, having a recess& some divots for hubs. It's kinda cool. Next they would take fine saw dust& mix it with resorcinol glue. In the day. It was sometimes called'Brazilwood Glue' This mix would get pushed into the mold& allowed to dry. Voila! Instant Knob! Then they would all get sick from the dihydroxybenzene in the glue. Why not just use brass. Since the valve is brass? It would get too hot to grab. Why not plain wood? My guess is the heat would dry it& crack it. Or- Labor to turn. Please let us know and we will email them to you directly. We are offering a wonderful antique spigot/faucet. This beauty is marked Chi-Fau-Co Patent number 832589. I think that is for The Chicago Faucet Co When you search that patent you fine it was patened by Albert Brown in 1906. This unit looks to be complete but needs rebuilding as the washers do not seat well. The chrome finnish is mostly worn off leaving a creat looking copper? faucet. The threaded end would need to be cut slightly shorter as the threads are bad on the end. Overall this tap is about 6.25" long. Antique Vintage Plumbing Part Sink Tub Spout 'J.D. Johnson Co.' 1920's
Here is a neat old spout that was removed from an old tub that dated from the 1920's. Though this could be used as a spout for almost anything. The nipple threads into the end of the spout and can be easily removed, please note that there are gouges in the nipple(see pics) This also comes with a matching escutcheon, as shown installed in the second photo. The plating is worn and lightly scuffed in spots from years of cleanings. The escutcheon also has a spot where the plating is missing from a long-term leak. All components are brass. The inlet looks to be beveled on the inside. And the thread on the outside is an unusual size so you may need to be creative to connect this to your plumbing. The fact that it's solid brass makes soldering a possibility in case the threads don't match anything else. Antique Porcelain Bathroom Plumbing Fixtures+Brass Hardware,prob.1900's
I purchased these old and antique porcelain Bathroom Plumbing fixtures. With a lot of brass hardware for them at an auction, and I know nothing about these things. All of the porcelain thingies, except for one piece is in excellent condition. The one piece has what looks like a surface crack, which however doesn't go through to the other side. One piece has"Standard" on it, and there are 2 buttons with"H" and"C" which are brass-enclosed. I have no idea to what kind of sink or bathtub/shower these go to. My guess, for what it's worth, is that these pieces are probably from the 1900's or so. Winning bidder pays shipping. And I'll ship this as cheaply as possible.
