Mystery vtg plumbing bathtub fixture part ? finial brass stearmpunk decor chrome
This item fascinates me. I have been trying for a long time to figure out what it is. The best I can come up with is some part for perhaps a claw foot bathtub. The chrome(if that is what it is) has a beautiful patina. I am quite sure it must be brass under the chrome as magnet does not stick to it. In fact a magnet will not stick to the screw\ or the nut. The nut looks like it could have been hand forged. The screw is 1 3/8" long and is embedded in the decorative part. The diameter of the base is 2 inches. Not including the screw. The decorative part is 3 3/4" long. I love the fact that there is a little arm with a ring. If you know what this was used for I would appreciate knowing even if you are not interested in bidding. Selling at no reserve is a nice pair of vintage bathroom faucets made of solid brass and then chrome plated. These were likely made is the 1930s or 40s. They do not have any markings. The handles seem to work very smoothly. Most of the original chrome is very nice with a few very minor nicks. It will be hard to find a nicer matching pair. The handles have no markings. Nice vintage chrome plated brass shower head with attached feed line and escutcheon. Manufactured by Standard or American Standard. It is a heavy and high quality piece. Chrome has scratches. Light wear, tool marks, and a very small amount of oxidization. There is a water control valve on the side of the shower head and seems to function as it should. This piece is untested and may need new washers etc. Overall it is invery good condition.
