The sofas are made of solid wood. The kind of wood you don't see anymore sadly. I can not date the pieces. When I got them from an Estate Sale the sofa and chair were very dated and were tufted. The reuphostry was done about 7 years ago. I call it Victorian, but it could be Edwardian. the arm got broken by a guest a few years ago. It doesn't look like it would be too hard to fix. Not sure of the wood, but it is stained nearly black, like the Victorians liked. The floral fabric is sort of like carpetbag material. It does have tiny rollers on the legs for easeir movement. I had it set up in front of the fireplace with a tea table between them. It was so charming. I hate to get rid of it, but space forces me. Please. Antique Victorian Settee and 4 chair Rosewood Parlor Set
Item up for bid is an antique Victorian Rosewood Parlor Set. It includes the settee and four chairs. One with arms. There are two larger chairs and two smaller chairs. I do not know much about this set as it was inherited. I am unsure of its age. The frames of the settee and chairs all have patterns with grapes as can be seen in the pictures above. It is slightly different on the chairs than on the settee. Obviously the upholstery is of different colors, but could be reupholstered to match. The condition of the set is good. But it is in need of some repair. The back comes off of the largest chair. I included a picture, so you can see the pegs that hold it together. It looks as though there may have been some repairs to the settee and you can see scuff marks on it in the picture. The items do have scuff marks on them, and there is a chunk ... moreout of the bottom of the wood part of the settee. Some of the seams in the wood of the settee are off a bit too, I included a picture of that. The underside of a couple of the chairs have the fabric torn loose under them, so you can see inside the chair. There is a chip off of the top of one of the chairs as well, on the grape pattern. I included a picture of that. I am not an antique dealer. But I am describing them to the best of my ability. My parents have decided to downsize from a large 150 year old farm house to a small ranch house in the city.For the next few weeks I am going to be listing some personal items that belonged to them.most all the items have been lifelong possessions that they bought when they got married over 50 years ago or they inherited from their family and friends.since I am not an expert on everything I will be listing I will take as many pictures as possible and try to answer any questions. Chair measures approx. 3' wide from winged arm to other winged arm and height is 3' to top of carved center. I think the fabric is original but I'm not sure.
