I might convince her to let me sell the bed also. The lady knew that both pieces were originally from a furniture store in Sheboygan Wisconsin. The couch measures 22 inches by 11 inches by 10 1/2 inches. The leather is considerably worn. But there are no tears or broken pieces. The lady told me that many years ago salesman would travel from store to store with a smaller version of what they were selling. These were easier to carry and was able to sell more items. Velvet upholstered salesmans sample. Chaise lounge is made of a hardwood and has what appears to be velvet material. The trim has been hot glued on by previous owner and is getting loose in a few areas, Wood is very well done. This is a quality piece of work(see pics) the velvet is a little worn but altogether there. The bottom of the couch(see last pic) has been poorly fixed with a piece of material and a staple gun, this is the only real problem with the piece and i'm sure it can be resolved fairly easy, 22" in length and 12 3/4" tall at highest point. This is a miniature antique Victorian fainting couch which I am pretty certain was a salesman sample. It measures 32" long. 13" wide and overall height is 16"9 1/2" bed height. It is in its original material which is in quite shabby condition now and its underneath springs need to be re-tied and it needs new webbing to hold them in place. The material is stained and tattered.it looks like a drab brownish gray now but originally it may have more a greenish stripe and I'm sure very pretty. It has turned hardwood legs.I might guess walnut or oak. It is in need of a restoration.and being in its original state you can see what should look like all restored in color and style. All wood with diamond shaped embellishments along the front. Back is curved and the supporting side is angled just slightly to hold a doll. Overall length is about 18” and about 4 5/8” wide. This is an amazing beautiful matched set of antique vintage salesman sample or child's chase lounge or settee couch and matching chair in PURPLE! This is all solid carved wood from the late 1800's according to the previous owner. This is not reproduction. These are in excellent shape. And were though to be made for the children of the wealthy Victorian high class when purchasing similar furniture for their home or used as salesman samples. The child size couch is 19 inches tall, approximately 34 inches long about 28 inches across on the armrests, and 16 approx. inches deep. The matching chair is 18 inches deep and just under 17" tall at its highest point. I believe the wood to be carved Mahogany with great detail and craftsmanship. The purple velvet covering is in excellent condition for its age. it also has The underside finishing ... morematerial is also nicely covered but it does appear that at one time one was replaced, as show in the photos, one is in white and the other is black. Victorian Antique Dolly Fainting Couch/Chaise Lounge or Salesman Sample
Hello. Today I am offering up for bids this really neat Victorian style"Fainting Couch or Chase Lounge" It is doll size with wooden legs and frame and a stuffed green cloth top. I purchased this at an auction about 12 years ago. The auctioneer thought it could have been a salesman sample and stated that at the time of the sale. It also could have been used for a store display. You be the judge. It weighs over 6 pounds. It is 23 inches long. 9 inches wide and at its tallest it is 9 inches. The green painted feet have some paint warn and flaked off, giving it a true early distressed look. The green stuffed covering does not looked damaged but will need to be cleaned. There is a round stain about the size of a golf ball on top in the center. 10 years ago I went to Shipshewana auctions and spent $275 on this in tattered condition. It sat in the garage for about 6 years until I finally decided to try my hand at upholstery. I spent another $64.00 in material and expensive special glue& 2 days of fun in the shop. I paid extremely close attention to details and bought the closest materials to the original fabrics I could. I also meticulously measured out the nail holes and replaced the original tacks in the same location. I also salvaged and used the original batting again. It easily comes apart at the screws on the sides and back. The part I never finished was a sewn together black tab that should sandwich the wire support leg(when unfolded) Also. The biggest problem was the hinges. They need to have some material glued or painted to match better. I used these ferril things to ... morefix the damaged enlarged screw holes(as I purchased it)and then couldn't figure out how to get them tight and have the material cover them. Otherwise a super cutie! Measures 21 3/4" long; 8 3/4" high(at the back) and folds down to be aprox. 16" deep(9" deep closed) I see a teeny tiny nick in the side panel material since I redid it(photo 2) I was really proud of how nice it turned out, but time has come to part with it. This is a rare Salesman's sample Victorian loveseat which was used to show customers before purchasing the real thing. It is in really nice condition with original upholstery. The upholstery shows a little wear with no rips or tears. As you can see in the pictures the condition is very good. The wood has scrolling on the top and bottom front. It looks like walnut. One of the rear legs may have been replaced but. Can't be sure. The detail on this little piece is amazing. For auction I have a really beautiful doll size antique Victorian chair and love seat. I purchased these at an estate sale. I'm not sure if there meant to be for dolls or if it was a salesman sample set. But at this sale it was full of Victorian clothes and Victorian furniture. It has the Rose on top of them carved in the wood just like I've seen on real furniture. It's a velvet red material. The love seat measures 15in long X 15 tall. The chair measures 9in X 16 1/2 tall. The legs on the love seat look as though they were broke and put back on at one time. Other than that there both in nice condition. I'm no expert but look at pics for best description.
