Featuring beautiful& solid Tiger Stripe Oak construction. It opens up to become a bed! Have a look at the gorgeous Tiger Stripe grain figure throughout; with beautiful Incised& Leaf carvings& ribbed apron base. A couple small bits of carving on the corners missing, touched up to blend. The upholstery is not original, re-done at some point in time but it is cheerful& perfectly servicable with no holes, tears or odors. The upholstery could be easily recovered in you choose. Original and features solid flame mahogany outer construction which boasts an original finish with a rich lustrous natural patina. The Victorian design incorporates 4 turned legs(one immovable. Three screw off) Appropriate to the era needlepoint type fabric with a muted cream background floral design consisting of scarlet rose color. Soft fern green and ... morebrownish-red stems. Upholstery is in good condition with no wear spots and free of staining. But would brighten with a cleaning. Fabric covers rear of seat as it should for away-from-wall presentation. B order piping is intact except for a foot or so that will need to be tacked(on the back) Formally a sitting Chaise Lounge. This one features an oversized bolstered roll arm that is capped on the front with rich beveled circular mahogany designs. Stem and leaf carvings accent the front base rails and the structure is rock solid and sturdy with two small(less than an inch each) veneer loss near the left front leg. Accent carvings are also found on the crest and finial. And there is uniform spring seating support—front edge seating area is shy on padding, but presentable. The underside is fabric covered. This is a lovely antique chaise lounge or fainting couch. In beautiful mahogany wood, with carved details. The turned legs have castors for ease of movement. The chaise is upholstered in a neautral bige/tan fabric with tiny burgundy accents, and the backrest is tufted with covered buttons in the same fabric. A matching bolster cushion is included(this is not attached to the couch) Structurally, this piece is in excellent condition. It has some surface wear and a few"dings" commensurate with age and use, and the fabric does have some small pulls, and could proably use a bit of a cleaning, but overall it is in great condition, ready to go. Rare and Unique Antique 2-Piece Lounger/Chaise Lounge Gold/Neutral Upholstery
This is a very unique and apparently rare little chaise. It really has a lot of appeal. Lending a certain grace and sophistication to the space which it occupies. Specific age, maker and origin have not been conclusively determined. The upholstery is a beautiful light gold and looks as though it may be original, although the dust covers appear to have been replaced or at the very least, repaired. The chair weighs only approximately 30lbs and the stool approximately 10lbs. It sits quite low to the ground and with the pieces placed touching end-to-end, it would accommodate the full height of an individual relatively short in stature only, although it does not in any way appear to been made for a child. The specific condition of each piece has been outlined above and shown in the photographs. Due to the fact that collectors vary in their decisions ... morerelative to whether to alter the condition of a piece and have varying preferences as to repairs and restorations, the chair is being sold as is. The fracture/break in the chair is shown in the last two pictures above(11 and 12) The break is clean but goes through the entire piece. In other words, if it were not secured to the frame, it would be completely broken off from the remainder of the leg. However, it would be very easy to repair and would be difficult to detect- it was only upon close inspection that the damage was noted. The pieces are made of hardwood, possibly walnut. The wood was stained at some point. It is stuffed in part with dried vegetation- probably straw or hay and the form is really well preserved. It is a great chaise- beautiful, versatile and a bit of a mystery at this point. Moderate research has failed to uncover clear identification or a similar two- piece chaise with the same characteristics.
