It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Chest has very nice carved feet front and back with bowed top as well as bowed front. It measures approx 22" tall including swivel mirror. 12 1/4" wide at feet, and 9" deep at feet and has 2 small drawers at top and l larger drawer at bottom. Mirror is in fine condition. The small drawers each measure approx 5 3/8" x 4" x 2 1/2" deep. The one on the right has a smaller pull than the others but it appears to have been put on at the same time. Bottom drawer measures approx 9 3/8" x 8" x 3 3/8" deep. Bottom drawer has original lock(no key) and is lined with a silver color paper which appears to be very old. 18th C. Antique Chest, Vibrant 19th C. Grain Paint, Orig. Hardware, Unrestored
This is an 18th C. chest that was intricately grain painted in the early to mid 19th C. The grain painted hardware. And almost all of the fasteners, appear to be original to the chest. The chest is 47"W, 23.5"D, 17"H(not counting the casters) and perhaps 100 lbs. The chest is functional and extremely solid with grain painted metal corners and edges. However, it is ~230+ years old and there are condition issues. The right hinge has been repaired with a modern bolt. Also, there is a ~2" area of the left rear top that has been weakened by the open till door and potential water exposure. Surprisingly, there is very little movement, or play, in the hinges. The original feet are missing and very old casters are in their place. There are areas of missing paint, particularly the left top. Please see the pictures, and request others ... moreif you would like to see more detail. If desired, each of these condition issues(including the missing paint) could be resolved by a skilled furniture restorer. Others may enjoy the chest as it is. Antique 18th Century English George II Mahogany Tall Chest of Drawers c. 1750
This listing is for an 18th Century English George II Tall Case Chest of Two over Four Drawers. Featuring original Queen Anne period brass hardware and all original locks, circa 1740-50. It is a beautiful piece with a simple form so successful commercially that it was copied in bedroom furniture for nearly 300 years, the same form being used in case pieces today. It is of outstanding craftsmanship being formed almost entirely of solid Cuban Mahogany, today a rare and restricted wood of incredible cost, known for it's dark and dense grain formations. A carved crown molding wraps around the front and sides. Repaired in numerous areas along, completing the smooth finished top of the case. The sides of the case are two boards that blind-dovetail at the top and through-dovetail at the bottom. The face of the case features two smaller drawers ... moreover four graduated larger drawers, each with full molded lips of the solid and fully original brass Queen Anne brass hardware, an original lock on every drawer(except the bottom) with many secured with original hand forged rose head nails and a few screws. Each drawer is hand dovetailed. Uniquely with graduating dovetails- the top two drawers have two dovetails, the next drawer down has three dovetails, the third down four dovetails, fourth with five dovetails and the bottom drawer with six. The top two drawers are divided by an upright bar with a half-dovetail joint penetrating the crossbar. Each drawer is divided with full dust board divisions, mahogany along the face, pine secondary woods making up the rest of the dust board. The dust board is primarily an English invention, found only infrequently on American case pieces, and conveniently protects clothing and items in drawers below from being dirtied by the drawer action. The back of the case is made up of one original board and the rest replaced. All re-secured with newer nails- a label inside on one of the replaced boards refers to a furniture depository in England. American Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. C. 1779 Item# 130002EEP16 This is a well worn and nearly untouched American Pennsylvania Chippendale Blanket Chest over Two Drawers. The interior of the lid covered in a fine woven green textile embroidered lower right"A.M.M. 1779" Likewise, the bottom of the inside of the chest bears the very faint initials and date"A M M 1779" these difficult to capture accurately with the camera and hard to see also with the eye. The underside of the lid of the till is inscribed in pencil"Hannah Britton" in a script that would suggest a somewhat early inscription by someone who owned the chest at one point. Crafted entirely of tulip poplar. Each surface of the case is crafted of a single solid unjoined board painted with a heavily oxidized brown streaked ... morepaint. The dovetails that join the case stretch from the top to the bottom of each toe, the feet becoming an integral part of the form, these well preserved and fully original. The molding around the lid, the midsection and the base are applied in the same manner, each with tiny wooden pins hammered through at regular intervals. The pair of drawers both bear pairs of replaced hardware, these inserted into the same original holes, both locks appearing to be fully original. The drawer frame is dovetailed front and back, the bottom heavily chamfered into rabbets on either side and nailed at the back in the typical manner. The interior of the chest has a later stain. While the 18th Century blanket chest is a very prevalent form. These are regularly refinished and rarely retain the original oxidized surface- even fewer also retain numerous matched inscriptions, dated and with some prior ownership inscribed on the interior. Well preserved in every way, this piece is untouched for the most part, of a desirable medium size and sturdy and strong in every way. Beautifully Carved Antique English Oak Coffer Three front raised panels are elegantly carved with fine acanthus leaf motif. The 7/8" solid top is made with breadboard ends. The 1" thick sides are panelled and beaded. The back consists of two reverse-raised panels in a 1" thick frame. The skirted bottom conceals a set of four small metal casters. The inside is all open. This piece shows beautiful rich dark brown patina throughout. This coffer took some considerable skill to build and. Although it is an antique with the usual slight bumps, it's excellent condition reflects the care with which this piece was crafted and treated through the years. DESCRIPTION: If you would like to own a beautiful piece of New England history. This is it. This is a beautiful 2-piece curly maple 10 drawer flat top highboy. It is an 18th century piece made in southern New England, probably Rhode Island, circa 1750. It spent a lot of its years in Maine. It is curly maple with secondary woods of poplar and chestnut. The back of the base is maple. The back of the top section is chestnut. The drawer sides and backs are poplar. The two square drawers have poplar bottoms. The other drawers have bottoms that are a combination of poplar and chestnut. The base and top section are both dove tailed construction. Visible nail heads are of a rectangular shape. The brass pulls are old but do not appear to be original. The legs may have been replaced but cannot say for certain. It appears to have the original finish. ... moreOverall height is 68 1/4" The base section is 33 1/4" high, 37 1/2" wide at trim, 38 3/4" wide at legs, 19 1/4" deep at trim, 20 3/4" deep at legs. The initials DR and the year 1798 is burned into the back board and another date appears in paint 1810 thought to be the year the chest was painted as the year is the same color paint as the painted part of the chest. Original brown paint on the top front and sides. 5 boards are ⅞ inch thick and hand planned. The back board slightly thinner and is split horizontally from end to end but not split open. The top left portion has a other split that measures about 11 inches. The overall measurement of the chest is: 22 inches ... moreWide 28 inches High Side board 22 ½ inches Wide Top board is 49 ½ inches Long Across the top front are 3 small nail or screw holes that appear to have been used to prevent the chest from being opened at some point. In spite of where they are positioned they are not particularly noticeable. The top is distressed with a few incomplete dark rings and a couple of random scrapes and irregularities in the paint. Normal and minor wear and tear for a piece of this age. Inside is clean and in excellent condition. The nails are hand wrought as are the hinges and as is the lock. German Antique wooden Chest 1700s
This antique chest measures 54" long. 24" wide(front to back) 23 1/2" high(including 3" legs) There is plenty of storage room, one small compartment measuring 6 1/4" across, 4" deep, 24" front to back on the left side. All finished wood, no rough surfaces. Working original lock and key included. Various decorative finishes are apparent in a few of the pictures. It has a feathered look and the detail adds a lot of character to this piece. This item has been in my family for many years. The date on the front starts out 177? the last number is unreadable but if I had to guess I would say 1774 or 1777 and the name is Jacob Roth. My father and grandparents are from the Lebanon and Palmyra areas of Pennsylvania.

Antique Italian Cassone Wedding Chest from 15th - 18th century
This is an Italian cassone. Also known as an Italian Wedding Chest. Age: somewhere between the 15th and 18th century? Material: apparently this is walnut. It was acquired by George Grey Barnard, famous for collecting medieval artifacts. He acquired it in Italy near the turn of 1900 while he was collecting the original medieval artifacts that made up the first Cloisters Museum. That collection was later sold to the NY Metropolitan Museum and became the foundation of what is now the Cloisters at the Met. This chest was used in his house then later passed down through the family to us, his great grand children. It measures 58" long x 19" wide x 21" high. Antique Wood Leather Travel Chest / Trunk c. Late 1700's
Up for auction is an Antique Vintage Wood Leather Traveling Chest circa late 1700’s. The chest is made out of wood. Was once covered in cow hide(most of which has worn off) and has leather hinges. It measures 17.5 inches long x 10 inches wide x 7.5 inches high and has a metal clasp/ lock(with no key) The top part of the lock is no longer attached to the lid. The handle on the top is also missing. The inside of the chest is lined with newspaper which has a date of Tuesday. April 1, 1794 from the Catskill Packet. The chest was purchased from an estate sale and I have no further information or back ground on it. Shipping includes insurance.

This chest was given to my wife by a family friend while in Hohenfels Germany. Who is a an antique dealer there in the town. It made the voyage across the Atlantic to our home in Glendale, AZ. and has sat in our room for the past 8 years. It has all the original hardware. It looks like someone along it's long life attempted to repair it(much to our shigrin) so it takes away from the value a bit. Up for auction is a very beautiful Swedish bridal chest with painted decorations dated 1799. According to the Gothenburg auction house in Sweden. Where it was purchased, there is no reason to doubt that the dating is accurate. The dimensions are at it's widest points(L x W x H) 48.5" x 24" x 23.5"There has been some repair made on the lid at some point but only visible from the inside and the actual lock(and key) is missing. Period 18th Century Antique Carved Oak Storage Chest Trunk - RARE
This is a rare pre-1800 period oak chest or trunk. The chest features hand chiseled carvings or motifs on the front followed by a scalloped edge base. The chest has mitered corners along with hand forged hinges and nails. The lid braces were hand hewn and have distinctive worm holes that come with theses century old pieces of furniture. It is a wonderful old piece which reeks of character. The chest measures 351/2" by 13" and stands 16" tall and is in excellent. The body of the chest is completely mortised pegged, with square wooden pegs. Yes, in some of the photos it looks like nails, but they are wooden pegs. We believe the wood is poplar, but not positive. The lock on it is original hand wrought iron. There is no corresponding latch on the lid. The hinges are looped wire. The front is painted with a great folk art star and flower design, the sides have sponge decorated geometric designs. The opinion is this is most likely Continental in origin. Antique 1700's Dated Pennsylvania German Wooden Chest Item Description Up for your consideration today we have this antique dated chest with a sunburst Federal design and patriotic colors. The chest was originally a red color and believed to have been refinished in this design in 1783 which is painted on the front. The chest has no name but it does have the federal style rectangle with cut corners. The front and top have the V for victory because 1783 is when the United States finally secured victory and peace by signing the Paris Peace Treaty which gave the 13 colonies the rights to own from the Mississippi river to the Atlantic ocean. And from Florida to Canada. The Sunburst design is very striking visually and very well done. There is what looks like a"W" on the back in red and on the inside a"V" mark in light blue. ... moreThere are many small old worm holes and by using a magnifying glass you can see that there is no paint inside them. T he lock has been changed 2 times. I believe the key is the right one as it fits perfectly but doesn't turn. I don't want to force it. There are some repairs underneath see pics. The rivet that held the lock to the latch has been broken and the nails were replaced with longer ones that are hand hammered nails that you can tell have been there a long time. Some of the reference material came from the book"The Pennsylvania- German Decorated Chest by Monroe H. Fabian. As is the case with this chest. On a relatively small number of chests the bottom board has been extended slightly and filed to form a false molding, see figure 53,54,and 201. The German font numbering is also similar to many examples in this book, figures 6, 50, 222. The chest measures 46 1/2" x 22 1/2" x 26" and weighs 75 pounds. Rope handles, candle box with hinged lid and deep secret compartment and brass escutcheon, animal/whale bone diamond inlays to lid top(the three central ones have been replaced recently with cow bone and are a perfect match) Weight is heavy 32kg approx. being constructed in mahogany(could be teak not quite sure as this is dense and heavy) with dovetailed corners. ANTIQUE SOLID WALNUT BLANKET CHEST FROM THE 1700'S RESTORED
I was told blanket chest was brought from Connecticut to Ohio in the 1700's on an ox cart. It had a lot of paint on it when I got it. They wanted a small fortune to strip it so I did it. I've been refinishing antique furniture for years. I put a lot of time into it because I think this chest is so special. There was the old blue paint under the green and black and some of it remained in the wood. I hoped it would show through the varnish but it just gives it this great look. A back strip of wood was added through the years and the hinge placement was changed. I don't change these things, it's part of it's history, you just have to be careful not to swing the back too far. It could set close to a wall or a safety hinge could be put on. Antique Louis the 14th Rhone Valley Walnut 3 Drawer Chest
I am offering this early 18th century Louis the 14th chest of drawers. This 3 drawer chest is completely hand cut and pegged walnut. It was assembled entirely with dovetails and pegs by a 18th century French cabinet maker. All the original hand cast hardware remains as well as the original key. The piece is heavy with the drawer sides and fronts measuring 1 inch thick. The construction verifies it's age by evidence of hand cuts. Huge dovetails and pegs. The overall measurements are 49"W x 36"H x 24"D. The top is a solid piece of walnut with a knot in the wood as evidenced by the photographs. There are a couple of places where the wood has developed age cracks from being 300 years old. I consider this a validation of the age of the piece and part of it's character and history. There is one imperfection on one corner ... moreof the top(visible in a photograph) that was probably caused by a heat generating light source at some point in it's lifetime prior to electricity. I have seen one other example similar to this in an antique shop in Charleston SC. It had a similar imperfection in the same area as this one. The price on that one was $24,000. ANTIQUE SPANISH SHIP CHEST All Metal 1770'S GOLD SILVER PIRATES
When Purchased. Was advised that this was 17th or 18th C. probably Spanish gold treasure chest in heavy metal with wrought iron hardware including pole brackets and hasps. Hinging lid shows hand wrought rivets and remnants of metal around the perimeter, bottom constructed with hand riveted metal cleats, interior with metal divider. The previously owner had the chest sand blasted, and some parts were removed, but can be easily restored. Some deterioration however, chest very good overall with a wonderful old. C. 1760-80 Item# 1401CGP11PP This well preserved and highly austere American Chippendale blanket chest is clearly a work from South Central. Pennsylvania. Executed in thick walnut planks in all primary surfaces, utilizing walnut also for the back board and poplar for the bottom board, this chest was built to last for generations. The large dovetails that line all corners are bold and extremely precise, these left intentionally exposed as a statement of quality and longevity. The top is edged in a nicely formed molding, affixed with large wooden pegs along the front and joined to the sides on through tenons and tightened with a wedge driven between the tenon and molding. The ... moretop lifts on huge hand forged iron strap hinges to reveal the clean and spacious interior and small till on the left. The original lock and clasp are still fully functioning in the interior, this large lock a highly effective design that can hold the weight of the large lid without strain. On either side of the chest. Large original hand forged iron handles are conveniently attached for easy transport- identical handles are documented in Fabian's work on the Pennsylvania-German Decorated Chest(p. 94) found on a chest inscribed c. 1775. Several interesting examples in his book are also resting over the somewhat unusual"shoe" footing found on this chest; we have spent some time examining these and are convinced they are original to the chest. No other holes exist on the underside. These unmoved from their original positions. Each is affixed to the bottom with two original wooden pins, supplemented by later added steel screws(19th Century) each finished with a carved toe that is quite attractive. Fine Items from ALittleUnlimited Description A fine early iron-bound dome top chest in a rare oval form dating to the late 15th or 16th century. The lid being carved from a single piece of wood. The hand wrought ironwork is beautifully done and in good condition for its age with only a small piece missing from the back bottom corner as shown in the photographs. It retains its original lock, hinges and a key that is likely original and all are in good working order. The lock will only remain in the unlocked position when the key is inserted and turned to the horizontal position. If the key is removed, the lock will automatically lock when the lid is closed. Offered for sale is this Early Pennsylvania Walnut Tall Chest-circa 1770! This chest was restored during the centennial era at which time the feet were probably changed as ogee bracket feet should be correct. The feet were most likely worn down or broken hence the restoration. The top was also enhanced with the addition of a broken arch treatment. During that era of restoration strong Chippendale influences were the rage. The work itself is very well done. Those cabinetmakers of the Victorian era had no way of envisioning that the early American furniture they were restoring would be more valuable in a pure state. The back ... moreis original and the hardware is correct in fashion. But replaced recently. Rosehead nails abound the back boards. The finish is also recent, but care was taken not to strip the bare wood. All things considered the chest is beautiful and more dramatic than original. It also isn't $6,000 as is an original. Antique 1700's Chippendale Style Rasied Blanket Chest w/Drawers
Up for auction is a beautiful and unusual 1700's Chippendale style. Two drawer blanket chest refinished and ready to use. This is a beautiful primitive piece with raised storage and two pull out drawers. Wonderful antique details such as the original hinges and the cut Chippendale style legs. This is a wide plank pine chest with Chestnut drawers. Very unusual solid large boards where used from a time when pine could be harvested in this size. The hinges are hand hammered. Knot holes are tin covered to keep mice out. This piece measures 41 1/2" high x 39 1/2" wide x 18 3/4" deep. Here is a beautiful primitive piece with a lot of character. Very Nice Antique Pine two drawer Blanket Chest. The top is removable not hinged. This piece is showing its age. It has scuffs and scrapes from over the years. It has a crack on the top from the knot that was in the wood. The Knot is indented. It actually looks kinda neat. I have taken pictures of the damaged parts.
