It has heavy patina on the ... moreback of both brass trays. There is patina around all of the sides of the brass and in spots on the carved scenes. The wooden stand is in very good condition. It has some patina on the metal hinges. One of the legs has a missing supporting piece(about a 1 inch long little piece of wood) This piece can use some heavy cleaning. This table would have supported a lamp. This lamp is not included. Pleasingly solid brass trays are supported by a folding base to produce a two tier table. The piece is suitable both for permanent location or as on occasional table. When in folded position the table assumes very little space and can be slid under a sofa or such; in addition the gorgeous solid trays may be used on their own for serving and display purposes. The base is a six leg folding design with dragons head carvings to the upper. The trays display wonderful scense with floral and foliate detailing to the perimeter and a central engraving featuring oriental characters in traditional dress. Overall this peice of furniture is in good condition and will make a great addition to any setting. 20" tall approximately 17" width 10" wide lower tray 14" wide upper tray We are a non-profit store and this was a donation. We are fairly certain this is not a reproduction piece and is truly from the 1930's. We do not know much about this piece except for a previous Ebay listing of a very similar item that sold in the UK in Sept. 2012. The front of the chest has beautiful incised carvings on the drawers and wood escutcheons. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. Nut missing for finial on left top drawer pull. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during the Victorian era. 18th C. Antique Chest, Vibrant 19th C. Grain Paint, Orig. Hardware, Unrestored
This is an 18th C. chest that was intricately grain painted in the early to mid 19th C. The grain painted hardware. And almost all of the fasteners, appear to be original to the chest. The chest is 47"W, 23.5"D, 17"H(not counting the casters) and perhaps 100 lbs. The chest is functional and extremely solid with grain painted metal corners and edges. However, it is ~230+ years old and there are condition issues. The right hinge has been repaired with a modern bolt. Also, there is a ~2" area of the left rear top that has been weakened by the open till door and potential water exposure. Surprisingly, there is very little movement, or play, in the hinges. The original feet are missing and very old casters are in their place. There are areas of missing paint, particularly the left top. If desired, each of these condition issues(including the missing paint) could be resolved by a skilled furniture restorer. Others may enjoy the chest as it is. Antique 18th Century English George II Mahogany Tall Chest of Drawers c. 1750
This listing is for an 18th Century English George II Tall Case Chest of Two over Four Drawers. Featuring original Queen Anne period brass hardware and all original locks, circa 1740-50. It is a beautiful piece with a simple form so successful commercially that it was copied in bedroom furniture for nearly 300 years, the same form being used in case pieces today. It is of outstanding craftsmanship being formed almost entirely of solid Cuban Mahogany, today a rare and restricted wood of incredible cost, known for it's dark and dense grain formations. A carved crown molding wraps around the front and sides. Repaired in numerous areas along, completing the smooth finished top of the case. The sides of the case are two boards that blind-dovetail at the top and through-dovetail at the bottom. The face of the case features two smaller drawers ... moreover four graduated larger drawers, each with full molded lips of the solid and fully original brass Queen Anne brass hardware, an original lock on every drawer(except the bottom) with many secured with original hand forged rose head nails and a few screws. Each drawer is hand dovetailed. Uniquely with graduating dovetails- the top two drawers have two dovetails, the next drawer down has three dovetails, the third down four dovetails, fourth with five dovetails and the bottom drawer with six. The top two drawers are divided by an upright bar with a half-dovetail joint penetrating the crossbar. Each drawer is divided with full dust board divisions, mahogany along the face, pine secondary woods making up the rest of the dust board. The dust board is primarily an English invention, found only infrequently on American case pieces, and conveniently protects clothing and items in drawers below from being dirtied by the drawer action. The back of the case is made up of one original board and the rest replaced. All re-secured with newer nails- a label inside on one of the replaced boards refers to a furniture depository in England. American Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. C. 1779 Item# 130002EEP16 This is a well worn and nearly untouched American Pennsylvania Chippendale Blanket Chest over Two Drawers. The interior of the lid covered in a fine woven green textile embroidered lower right"A.M.M. 1779" Likewise, the bottom of the inside of the chest bears the very faint initials and date"A M M 1779" these difficult to capture accurately with the camera and hard to see also with the eye. The underside of the lid of the till is inscribed in pencil"Hannah Britton" in a script that would suggest a somewhat early inscription by someone who owned the chest at one point. Crafted entirely of tulip poplar. Each surface of the case is crafted of a single solid unjoined board painted with a heavily oxidized brown streaked ... morepaint. The dovetails that join the case stretch from the top to the bottom of each toe, the feet becoming an integral part of the form, these well preserved and fully original. The molding around the lid, the midsection and the base are applied in the same manner, each with tiny wooden pins hammered through at regular intervals. The pair of drawers both bear pairs of replaced hardware, these inserted into the same original holes, both locks appearing to be fully original. The drawer frame is dovetailed front and back, the bottom heavily chamfered into rabbets on either side and nailed at the back in the typical manner. The interior of the chest has a later stain. While the 18th Century blanket chest is a very prevalent form. These are regularly refinished and rarely retain the original oxidized surface- even fewer also retain numerous matched inscriptions, dated and with some prior ownership inscribed on the interior. Well preserved in every way, this piece is untouched for the most part, of a desirable medium size and sturdy and strong in every way. Beautifully Carved Antique English Oak Coffer Three front raised panels are elegantly carved with fine acanthus leaf motif. The 7/8" solid top is made with breadboard ends. The 1" thick sides are panelled and beaded. The back consists of two reverse-raised panels in a 1" thick frame. The skirted bottom conceals a set of four small metal casters. The inside is all open. This piece shows beautiful rich dark brown patina throughout. This coffer took some considerable skill to build and. Although it is an antique with the usual slight bumps, it's excellent condition reflects the care with which this piece was crafted and treated through the years. A great antique Renaissance 18th century Walnut Cassone( Cassonne) or a storage trunk(as in American Blanket Chest) This piece is of great quality, crisp carvings, gorgeous hairy Italian carved paw feet. The piece is of rock solid construction, heavy and massive- just the way these babies are suppose to be. Top lifts up, connected with 2 hinges, on the underside of the lid and on the outside of the back of the bottom. Hinges are 100% original to the piece, made of the hamerred iron, very early(18th C) Condition is good, corners chewed as is the case with just about all of these, but all else tip top. Size is large 56.5" wide, 23.25" tall and 21.5" deep. It is hard enough to find one like this from 19th C, and here you have an 18th century example for no money- bargain! The chest features four graduated drawers over straight bracket feet, the drawer fronts and top inlaid with boxwood stringing and a border of mahogany banding with very interesting figuring. The drawer linings are all mahogany, which was quite extravagant. The hardware is replaced but of the period and correct for the piece. The chest measures 39" high by 44" wide by 22" deep. It has four drawers and a molded top, canted corners with fluting, and straight bracket feet. It is 45" high by 43" wide by 21" deep. The top also has a split. It has an old refinish. The brasses are gorgeous and ARE 18th century, though may not original to this piece. There is evidence that there has been another type of hardware on the chest in the past. The back-plates on the brasses all match but three of the bails are different from the rest. It is an 18th century piece made in southern New England, probably Rhode Island, circa 1750. It spent a lot of its years in Maine. It is curly maple with secondary woods of poplar and chestnut. The back of the base is maple. The back of the top section is chestnut. The drawer sides and backs are poplar. The two square drawers have poplar bottoms. German Antique wooden Chest 1700s
This antique chest measures 54" long. 24" wide(front to back) 23 1/2" high(including 3" legs) There is plenty of storage room, one small compartment measuring 6 1/4" across, 4" deep, 24" front to back on the left side. All finished wood, no rough surfaces. Working original lock and key included. Various decorative finishes are apparent in a few of the pictures. It has a feathered look and the detail adds a lot of character to this piece. This item has been in my family for many years. The date on the front starts out 177? the last number is unreadable but if I had to guess I would say 1774 or 1777 and the name is Jacob Roth. My father and grandparents are from the Lebanon and Palmyra areas of Pennsylvania.

Antique Italian Cassone Wedding Chest from 15th - 18th century
This is an Italian cassone. Also known as an Italian Wedding Chest. Age: somewhere between the 15th and 18th century? Material: apparently this is walnut. It was acquired by George Grey Barnard, famous for collecting medieval artifacts. He acquired it in Italy near the turn of 1900 while he was collecting the original medieval artifacts that made up the first Cloisters Museum. That collection was later sold to the NY Metropolitan Museum and became the foundation of what is now the Cloisters at the Met. This chest was used in his house then later passed down through the family to us, his great grand children. It measures 58" long x 19" wide x 21" high. Up for auction is an Antique Vintage Wood Leather Traveling Chest circa late 1700’s. The chest is made out of wood. Was once covered in cow hide(most of which has worn off) and has leather hinges. It measures 17.5 inches long x 10 inches wide x 7.5 inches high and has a metal clasp/ lock(with no key) The top part of the lock is no longer attached to the lid. The handle on the top is also missing. The inside of the chest is lined with newspaper which has a date of Tuesday. April 1, 1794 from the Catskill Packet. Antique German Wedding Chest c.1797
This chest was given to my wife by a family friend while in Hohenfels Germany. Who is a an antique dealer there in the town. It made the voyage across the Atlantic to our home in Glendale, AZ. and has sat in our room for the past 8 years. It has all the original hardware. It looks like someone along it's long life attempted to repair it(much to our shigrin) so it takes away from the value a bit. Offering this sale after information found on line to be a original Colonial period Mahogany wine Cellarette or Wine Butler looks to be all original Hardware with fantastic hand forged nails and blacksmith forged Hinges. I see no extra holes. Piece looks to may have been reinforced at one point. To top lid and maybe the side pieces? See the photos. for I am not familiar with the original construction of these Cellarettes Nor an expert on dating such pieces, so feel free to ask concerns or Question you may have. Condition as shown in the photos. 2 bottom feet/ legs are broken off and missing, But still sits completely level and sits firmly without any kiltering and really doesn't attract the eye, the Awesome hardware does that. Also has a crack to bottom and top octagonal wood base and top. no cracking to any of the side pieces. missing the top Inner Brass Latch Catch piece. So the Cover will not lock. lid edge trim is missing 1/4" piece in one spot, a few nicks and dings. But in my opinion is in fantastic condition for its age. looks to be its Original finish. looks to have wax build up or material in and around the Brass Hardware. Top has some staining. I cannot find any piece on line that Exceeds or Meets the caliber of the piece. And to me is Quite obvious to have owned by a person of statute and Great Wealth. Where it was purchased, there is no reason to doubt that the dating is accurate. Period 18th Century Antique Carved Oak Storage Chest Trunk - RARE
This is a rare pre-1800 period oak chest or trunk. The chest features hand chiseled carvings or motifs on the front followed by a scalloped edge base. The chest has mitered corners along with hand forged hinges and nails. The lid braces were hand hewn and have distinctive worm holes that come with theses century old pieces of furniture. It is a wonderful old piece which reeks of character. The chest measures 351/2" by 13" and stands 16" tall and is in excellent. The body of the chest is completely mortised pegged, with square wooden pegs. Yes, in some of the photos it looks like nails, but they are wooden pegs. We believe the wood is poplar, but not positive. The lock on it is original hand wrought iron. There is no corresponding latch on the lid. The hinges are looped wire. The front is painted with a great folk art star and flower design, the sides have sponge decorated geometric designs. The opinion is this is most likely Continental in origin. Fine Items from ALittleUnlimited Description A fine early iron-bound dome top chest in a rare oval form dating to the late 15th or 16th century. The lid being carved from a single piece of wood. The hand wrought ironwork is beautifully done and in good condition for its age with only a small piece missing from the back bottom corner as shown in the photographs. It retains its original lock, hinges and a key that is likely original and all are in good working order. The lock will only remain in the unlocked position when the key is inserted and turned to the horizontal position. If the key is removed, the lock will automatically lock when the lid is closed. There is a beautifully wrought twisted iron bail style handle on the top for carrying and there is an iron ring attached near the base at each side presumably for tying the box in place ... morewhen travelling. Antique 1700's Dated Pennsylvania German Wooden Chest Item Description Up for your consideration today we have this antique dated chest with a sunburst Federal design and patriotic colors. The chest was originally a red color and believed to have been refinished in this design in 1783 which is painted on the front. The chest has no name but it does have the federal style rectangle with cut corners. The front and top have the V for victory because 1783 is when the United States finally secured victory and peace by signing the Paris Peace Treaty which gave the 13 colonies the rights to own from the Mississippi river to the Atlantic ocean. And from Florida to Canada. The Sunburst design is very striking visually and very well done. There is what looks like a"W" on the back in red and on the inside a"V" mark in light blue. ... moreThere are many small old worm holes and by using a magnifying glass you can see that there is no paint inside them. T he lock has been changed 2 times. I believe the key is the right one as it fits perfectly but doesn't turn. I don't want to force it. There are some repairs underneath see pics. The rivet that held the lock to the latch has been broken and the nails were replaced with longer ones that are hand hammered nails that you can tell have been there a long time. Some of the reference material came from the book"The Pennsylvania- German Decorated Chest by Monroe H. Fabian. As is the case with this chest. On a relatively small number of chests the bottom board has been extended slightly and filed to form a false molding, see figure 53,54,and 201. The German font numbering is also similar to many examples in this book, figures 6, 50, 222. The chest measures 46 1/2" x 22 1/2" x 26" and weighs 75 pounds. Antique Wooden Chest - 1700's - England
VERY old wooden chest. My family acquired this years ago when my father was on a diplomatic assignment in London. The chest pre-dates metal screws(all fasteners are wooden pegs) And the hinges are wooden as well. Wish we could keep it forever. But we're moving to a small apartment in California.

original antique 38" mahogany teak not pine box sea chest coffee table
Rare antique(1750s-1820s) sea chest in its original condition not many have survived and tend to be one offs. Rope handles, candle box with hinged lid and deep secret compartment and brass escutcheon, animal/whale bone diamond inlays to lid top(the three central ones have been replaced recently with cow bone and are a perfect match) Weight is heavy 32kg approx. being constructed in mahogany(could be teak not quite sure as this is dense and heavy) with dovetailed corners. Original rope handles, iron hinges, brass escutcheon and bone inlays. Very good patina, recently lightly cleaned and wax polished so all ready for the home no woodworm or rot some evidence of old nails to the inner rim top where fabric had been fitted. Antique Chest Trunk-18th C- c 1725 English American-Storage-Heavily Carved Oak
Here is an antique trunk from the 18th century. Early 1700's period. It is made of oak and I believe it most likely hails from England. It is intricately and beautifully carved and in overall fine condition for its age. It has wear as expected, some repairs to wood, some holes in wood in the base. It is very attractive and would be nice to showcase in your home or office, as well as a great place to store items. This measures 54" long, 21" deep, and 27" high. Antique 16th Century Wedding Chest / Cassone / Trunk; Ornate Carved Walnut 1500s
We bought this cassone at an auction in New York several years ago(I have included the auction listing in the final photo) It is really. Really beautiful and really, really old. While most cassones of this type originate in Italy. Apparently this one is from Syria and was dated as 16th Century. It obviously has quite a few scratches and nicks, but is still in good shape. It has not been refinished or polished etc. On the base. A small piece broke off at some point- it was glued back, which is not ideal, so this does, apparently, affect the value. ANTIQUE SOLID WALNUT BLANKET CHEST FROM THE 1700'S RESTORED
I was told blanket chest was brought from Connecticut to Ohio in the 1700's on an ox cart. It had a lot of paint on it when I got it. They wanted a small fortune to strip it so I did it. I've been refinishing antique furniture for years. I put a lot of time into it because I think this chest is so special. There was the old blue paint under the green and black and some of it remained in the wood. I hoped it would show through the varnish but it just gives it this great look. A back strip of wood was added through the years and the hinge placement was changed. I don't change these things, it's part of it's history, you just have to be careful not to swing the back too far. It could set close to a wall or a safety hinge could be put on.
