It's unmarked as to maker. I think it's likely circa early to mid-1900s. I believe it's in original condition. It has one interior. Multi-sectioned drawer on hinges(in need of minor repair-see below) It's constructed of walnut veneer with cedar lining, and secondary hardwood(s) The back is unfinished. Wonderful for storage and display or seating, it's both beautiful and superbly useful. CONDITION: Overall. I think it's in nice vintage condition. Solid and sturdy. Only the tiniest bit of veneer loss that I can see: a few tiny chips along the back edge. Minor nicks, imperfections normal to vintage furniture. It does have some flaws: 1) the top surface has superficial scratches and age-related splits in the veneer(but they seem shallow enough to me that I think just polyurethane(were the top refinished) and/or a walnut-tone pore filler would be enough to fill them for a flawless(or nearly so) top. 2) In the interior. Lid, left side, the wood affixing the screw supporting the pull-out shelf is stripped(please see photos; the drawer is just propped in place in the photo) so is in need of this repair. I'd probably suggest filling the oversized hole with wood scraps and glue to fill, then redrilling the hole(possibly a larger screw would work) this is left to the buyer. 3) The locks on these old chests pose a safety hazard to children(won't open from within; children can suffocate inside) and can't be sold with the lock in place. I've removed and discarded it. Leaving just the hardware(for aesthetics) so it simply opens and closes, and can be opened from inside. Antique pine Chippendale chest-over-drawer or blanket chest. Lift top covers a generous storage well and is held in place with remarkable old cotter-pin or snipe hinges. Inside. There is a smaller storage box and a drawer. There is one large drawer below with dovetail joints. It has two brass willow mount and bail handle pulls that match the brass escutcheon above. Bracket feet and scalloped skirts on the front and sides. This piece has a beautiful aged patina Overall. The chest is in good condition. There is some significant wear to the lid, corners and feet as well as around the edges of the drawer. American Pennsylvania Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers c1779
American Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. C. 1779 Item# 130002EEP16 This is a well worn and nearly untouched American Pennsylvania Chippendale Blanket Chest over Two Drawers. The interior of the lid covered in a fine woven green textile embroidered lower right"A.M.M. 1779" Likewise, the bottom of the inside of the chest bears the very faint initials and date"A M M 1779" these difficult to capture accurately with the camera and hard to see also with the eye. The underside of the lid of the till is inscribed in pencil"Hannah Britton" in a script that would suggest a somewhat early inscription by someone who owned the chest at one point. Crafted entirely of tulip poplar. Each surface of the case is crafted of a single solid unjoined board painted with a heavily oxidized brown streaked ... morepaint. The dovetails that join the case stretch from the top to the bottom of each toe, the feet becoming an integral part of the form, these well preserved and fully original. The molding around the lid, the midsection and the base are applied in the same manner, each with tiny wooden pins hammered through at regular intervals. The pair of drawers both bear pairs of replaced hardware, these inserted into the same original holes, both locks appearing to be fully original. The drawer frame is dovetailed front and back, the bottom heavily chamfered into rabbets on either side and nailed at the back in the typical manner. The interior of the chest has a later stain. While the 18th Century blanket chest is a very prevalent form. These are regularly refinished and rarely retain the original oxidized surface- even fewer also retain numerous matched inscriptions, dated and with some prior ownership inscribed on the interior. Beautifully Carved Antique English Oak Coffer Blanket Box Chest
Beautifully Carved Antique English Oak Coffer Three front raised panels are elegantly carved with fine acanthus leaf motif. The 7/8" solid top is made with breadboard ends. The 1" thick sides are panelled and beaded. The back consists of two reverse-raised panels in a 1" thick frame. The skirted bottom conceals a set of four small metal casters. The inside is all open. This piece shows beautiful rich dark brown patina throughout. This coffer took some considerable skill to build and. Although it is an antique with the usual slight bumps, it's excellent condition reflects the care with which this piece was crafted and treated through the years. The hinges and locking mechanism(no key) are solid brass. The top shows a couple of age cracks that are normal for a piece of this vintage. We had folks look at it and the consensus is this is at a minimum 17th century(1600's) Though we have had some argument for older. The body of the chest is completely mortised pegged, with square wooden pegs. Yes, in some of the photos it looks like nails, but they are wooden pegs. We believe the wood is poplar, but not positive. The lock on it is original hand wrought iron. There is no corresponding latch on the lid. The hinges are looped wire. The front is painted with a great folk art star and flower design, the sides have sponge decorated geometric designs. The opinion is this is most likely Continental in origin. It measures approx. 23" wide x 11 1/4" x 13 1/4" There is of course old scratches, chips, holes and a few cracks, but what a stunning antique box. GOOD LUCK! ANTIQUE SOLID WALNUT BLANKET CHEST FROM THE 1700'S RESTORED
I was told blanket chest was brought from Connecticut to Ohio in the 1700's on an ox cart. It had a lot of paint on it when I got it. They wanted a small fortune to strip it so I did it. I've been refinishing antique furniture for years. I put a lot of time into it because I think this chest is so special. There was the old blue paint under the green and black and some of it remained in the wood. I hoped it would show through the varnish but it just gives it this great look. A back strip of wood was added through the years and the hinge placement was changed. I don't change these things, it's part of it's history, you just have to be careful not to swing the back too far. It could set close to a wall or a safety hinge could be put on. ANTIQUE 1780's BLANKET CHEST COFFER INTRICATE CARVINGS This is an absolutely beautiful blanket chest coffer. It is a phenomenal piece of history. It dates to about 1780's. It features intricate carving on the front. Chamfer back paneled, HANDFORGED heart shaped handles, hand wrought rosette nails and square nails, dovetailed joints, wood peg jointed which is all typical for the period. The top has some cracks. It has some newer flat head screws in the top(still older screws) It appears to have been cut down and looks a little uneven when I look at it. Overall this piece is still super solid for the age! It's a beautiful collectors item or for someone who really appreciates antiques and history. Measures 45" x 21" x 19.5" Please message me any questions. Up for auction is a beautiful and unusual 1700's Chippendale style. Two drawer blanket chest refinished and ready to use. This is a beautiful primitive piece with raised storage and two pull out drawers. Wonderful antique details such as the original hinges and the cut Chippendale style legs. This is a wide plank pine chest with Chestnut drawers. Very unusual solid large boards where used from a time when pine could be harvested in this size. The hinges are hand hammered. Knot holes are tin covered to keep mice out. This piece measures 41 1/2" high x 39 1/2" wide x 18 3/4" deep. Here is a beautiful primitive piece with a lot of character. Antique Primative 18th Cen. 6 Board Blanket Chest Green c.1790 Rose Head nails
PICK-UP ONLY! A rare. Old, authentic six(6) board blanket chest found in South Carolina. Based on the construction and the rose-head nails, the chest(blanket box) has been dated at around 1790. The boards are made of pine and in surprisingly good condition. There are a few signs of wear. Such as some of the trim is missing from the bottom and top, the locking mechanism is missing and one of the strap hinges is not attached. Also, the till is missing. The hinges are hand made(forged) individually by a blacksmith. The original nails are also individually made by a blacksmith, there are some other nails that have been added later, some for the purpose of attaching some sort of lining, possibly, most of the original nails are in place, I took a photo of 2 of the rose head nails that were in the bottom of the box, one of them appears to be for ... morethe loose strap hinge. There are at least two modern screws that I found. One was put in one of the hinges and another was put on the bottom board to help secure it. The chest is very sturdy and strong. not rickety at all. You can sit, or even stand on it(not that I would) I am asking a fair amount for this very old work of art and important piece of Americana, but I will entertain all reasonable offers. As for shipping and delivery; I am not prepared to ship this large box. With a width of over 42 inches(height and depth are both around 17 1/2" I do not want to try shipping this. I am listing it as; for PICK-UP ONLY. I will try to work with you as best I can. And might be able to meet you half way, if its within a couple hundred miles of Fayetteville, NC I'm not sure if the hideous green paint is original or not.

To the best of our knowledge this chest was made in Bucks County, PA. It is entirely made from 6 boards. Is dove-tailed, and has early square nail and wood peg construction. The chest is 45 1/2' long x 18 1/4" wide. It is 20 1/2" high. It has a 15 1/4" high interior and stores quite a bit. The wood has a nice patina and a lovely feel. We do not have the key. We are selling because we are moving. It has been in a smoke free home.

Painted Oak coffer c1836 This is the best'ships Masters' captain or owner) coffer we have seen in the last 30 years. From the historic port of Nantes it is constructed of fine oak rather than the typical pine. The decoration is original and untouched and depicted garlands of flowers with two delightfully naïve canary or oriole type birds. It is impossible to pinpoint its history. They were typically commissioned by ships captains or owners and are usually painted though I have never seen illustrations of such a romantic example. The inference is that it is a marriage piece with the inscribed date that of the union. One can guess it was a gift from a mariner/owner to his bride. The photos do not do it justice it is a wonderfully romantic piece and very effective focal piece for any room. We love it. C. 1775-1800 Item# 130002EEP16 This is a well worn and nearly untouched American Pennsylvania Chippendale Blanket Chest over Two Drawers. The interior of the lid covered in a fine woven green textile embroidered lower right"A.M.M. 1779" Likewise, the bottom of the inside of the chest bears the very faint initials and date"A M M 1779" these difficult to capture accurately with the camera and hard to see also with the eye. The underside of the lid of the till is inscribed in pencil"Hannah Britton" in a script that would suggest a somewhat early inscription by someone who owned the chest at one point. Crafted entirely of tulip ... morepoplar. Each surface of the case is crafted of a single solid unjoined board painted with a heavily oxidized brown streaked paint. The dovetails that join the case stretch from the top to the bottom of each toe, the feet becoming an integral part of the form, these well preserved and fully original. The molding around the lid, the midsection and the base are applied in the same manner, each with tiny wooden pins hammered through at regular intervals. The pair of drawers both bear pairs of replaced hardware, these inserted into the same original holes, both locks appearing to be fully original. The drawer frame is dovetailed front and back, the bottom heavily chamfered into rabbets on either side and nailed at the back in the typical manner. The interior of the chest has a later stain. While the 18th Century blanket chest is a very prevalent form. These are regularly refinished and rarely retain the original oxidized surface- even fewer also retain numerous matched inscriptions, dated and with some prior ownership inscribed on the interior. Well preserved in every way, this piece is untouched for the most part, of a desirable medium size and sturdy and strong in every way. These

Antique 1667 German Oak Hammered Iron Traveling Trunk. Measures 44" wide by 25" high by 23" depth. NOT a reproduction. My parents bought this over from a trip to Europe in 1971. Extremely sturdy. Very little damage, just on some of the iron and I have the small the piece that is missing from the left bottom, it needs to be reattached. No key. There are two U-shaped pieces that would attach the trunk to a coach in the back. I have the shipping manifest with the shipping date of Feb. 1972 when my parents shipped it from Germany. This is obviously a very heavy piece(I guesstimate more than 150 pounds) and would need to be shipped by a freight carrier. A large 18th century marriage chest. Ornately carved and dated"1733" with pegged construction. The measurements are approximately 27" tall, just shy of 58" wide at the widest point(which is the bottom) and 28" deep at the deepest point(which is the bottom) Though the European influence is apparent, we really do not know the region of origin or the maker of this piece. There is a decorative carved block of wood which has been lost(front upper left corner as you face the piece) The inner till box inside the chest has also been lost. The piece of wood composing the top of the chest has split, as have the hinges(please see photos) The locking hardware and mechanism has also been removed. The pegs holding the lid together are a bit loose, so the lid should be lifted with care. 18th century Antique Blanket Chest - GRAIN PAINTED - PA - Dome Trunk untouched
You are bidding on a 18th century"immigrant trunk. It is in great. Original condition. The trunk dates to the 18th century. I have had two of Rhode Island's highly respected colonial antique dealers examine the chest, and both have confirmed my approximation of age. In fact, one antique furniture expert(with a Ph.D. in history) just today, after examining the trunk for 30 minutes, said it is possible that the trunk dates to the mid, or even early 1700's, making it a full 300 years old. But I will err on the side of understatement, and simply say the trunk is 18th century. The expert was very impressed with the shape and character of the hand-forged hinges. And in particular, was effusive in his excitement with regard to the quality of the hand-forged locking mechanism(Please compare this latch/lock with the lock on the $45,000 ... moretrunk currently on eBay) It still closes with"vise-like" strength. And we both marveled at the key.which appears to be original to the locking mechanism. Can you imagine that?nearly 300 years old, and still with the probable original key. I can't go a year without losing a key. With regard to the paint: neither the two colonial America antique dealers. Nor myself, can say with absolute 100% certainty that the paint is original to the piece. Though, after examining the trunk very closely.front, back, sides, top and bottom.we could find not a thing that points to anything other than original paint. It is simply extraordinary to find a piece of this age with such deep, rich color. So I am going to err on the side of understatement, and simply say very old paint. Most probably original. With regard to the trunk's origin: Years ago. When I purchased the trunk at auction, the auctioneer had described the trunk"as found in Berks Co. Pennsylvania. FINE AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE WALNUT BLANKET CHEST OF DRAWERS Pennsylvania c. 1780. Preserved in nearly untouched condition Item# 411DXP29A This unusually striking American Chippendale blanket chest is distinguished by the open dovetailing of the case. This following from the sides through the feet to accentuate the hand crafted nature of the object. Pennsylvania craftsmen during the late 18th century built these pieces to be family heirlooms that could pass from one generation to the next and the quality of craftsmanship was something they took pride in and openly advertised- while other work centers sought to hide the dovetail, being simply a means of joining one plank to another, clientele in this region expected excellent joinery and examined it as part of the purchase process. As a result, the dovetail became something of an art form, this ... moreexercised to it's fullest in the presentation of the case. Remaining in nearly undisturbed condition with only minor repairs. The chest retains not only it's original brasses and all original hardware but also untouched feet- these are beautiful statements of purity in construction, the entire underside revealing only wooden peg joinery with no glue or nails. A back foot support and accompanying block are separated from the underside, allowing you to see exactly how the blocking perfectly fits together inside of the foot(see pictures in the slideshow) The drawers are constructed in the typical manner of the region. The poplar secondary woods hand dovetailed in the frame with the two-board bottom half-lapped at the joint, chamfered along the sides and set in grooves, allowing them to expand and contract freely. They retain their original brasses and locks, though it is possible the middle drawer has a replaced bottom since the two planks are not half-lapped and the end grains show some variation. Antique Rare Scratch & Chip Carved Blanket Chest From Maine Camp Can Be Shipped
This is a rare antique scratch and chip carved blanket chest from a camp located near Rockville. Maine. It is an amazing example of Maine Folk Art. The chest dates from the late 1700’s to the early 1800’s and shows traces it indicate that it was originally painted a salmon color with black highlights. The carving is wonderful and illustrates the deep Indian Heritage of this area of Maine. There is a sun carved in the center of the top of the lid and a hatchet carved in each corner. The edges around the top are carved in a ribbed pattern. The front of the chest is a carving of an Indian in a canoe paddling across a pond. The front outer edges. Along with the edges around the drawer are chip carved, very nicely done. The chip carved potions have traces of original black paint. The hinges are the original iron snipe hinges. The drawer pull is ... morebrass and may not be original. The drawer is nailed construction. There are several repairs to the chest and a replaced drawer slide. The lid is loose around the snipe hinges. This piece could use some restoration but the beauty is in the original carved decoration. There is no evidence that the chest ever had a till or other dividers inside. It appears that the wood could be Birch or Pine. The chest is 43” long x 17 ½” wide and 30” high. Rockville is located in Knox county. Just northwest of Rockport on a feeder creek for Chickawaukie Pond. The main Indian tribe that inhabited the area was the Wabanaki, or Abnaki tribe which had villages and subdivisions in Knox County. We can safely ship this antique. Please ask for a quotation.
