The chair shown is offered elsewhere in our collection Item# 110105PII25 This is a remarkably preserved English Chippendale Period Kneehole Desk. Circa 1740-50. It is crafted of well figured solid single boards of Mahogany on the top and sides- there is no veneer on this desk, just solid boards of full grain mahogany. A simply molded edge runs the perimeter of the top, each corner scalloped. Each drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, with thin oak frame construction and thin oak drawer bottoms- all drawers are fully original and lack any adjustments and restorations to the secondary construction. Glowing hand forged brass hardware adorns each drawer. Appearing to have never been removed from the piece. Inside each drawer, as well as the tiny door in the kneehole area, silver metal locks are secured and functional. Each lock appears to be original, each uniquely cut on the right hand corner for all small drawers- it would appear the craftsman was presented with the challenge of making the lock of his choice fit the small space in conjunction with the pull hardware, and overcame this but cutting the corners of each lock. Hand made screws are visible throughout the lock hardware. While we cannot say for certain if the key is original, it is of the period, hand made and very similar in metal color to that of the locks. Each drawer is lip-molded and slides flawlessly in and out of the desk. Just below the top drawer is a secret drawer compartment. Appearing to be part of the frame design, but actually pulls outward smoothly as an extra hand dovetailed drawer. This is a unique addition for the craftsman to make, as many of these knee hole desks are without such innovations. The wide top drawer pulls out to reveal a full dust shelf. American Queen Anne Oak Chest of Drawers Circa 1720 Description: An early 18th century American Queen Anne oak chest of drawers. Circa 1720. The chest features an old(possibly original) finish with gorgeous patina, quarter round molding, and panelled sides. It has Queen Anne period brasses though it may have originally had William and Mary style drop pulls. The bracket feet are original. The carcass is cedar and pine. Drawers are white oak. We think this is probably from the mid-Atlantic states, possibly Virginia. It is 37 1/2" wide by 21" deep by 36 1/2" high. Condition: Very good overall. The biggest issue is replaced pulls and backplates on the bottom drawer. All locks are intact though the chest does not have a key. There is a small chunk of wood missing on the rail over the second drawer down. Probably from someone breaking ... moreinto a locked drawer. Antique American Federal Mahogany Chest of Drawers Circa 1800 Description: A fine American federal period bowfront chest of drawers in mahogany. Circa 1800. The chest has four graduated drawers and tall flared French feet. Drawers are cockbeaded and have original locks and keyhole escutcheons. The brass pulls are period but not original and the top and apron have fine inlay. There are some minor repairs to the chest but no major restorations or replacements. Guaranteed to be as described. Antique English George III Mahogany Chest of Drawers circa 1790 Description: A fine. High quality, English George III mahogany straight front chest of drawers, circa 1790. The chest features four graduated drawers over straight bracket feet, the drawer fronts and top inlaid with boxwood stringing and a border of mahogany banding with very interesting figuring. The drawer linings are all mahogany, which was quite extravagant. The hardware is replaced but of the period and correct for the piece. The chest measures 39" high by 44" wide by 22" deep. It is in excellent condition, with an old french polish refinish, great color, warm and rich. There is one crack on the top, see photo close-up. Otherwise, no major issues or damage. Antique English Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers Circa 1770 Description: A fine English mahogany chest of drawers. Circa 1770. The chest is solid mahogany with oak secondary. It has four drawers and a molded top, canted corners with fluting, and straight bracket feet. It is 45" high by 43" wide by 21" deep. It does have some problems, please view all pictures carefully as we are selling this"as is" There is a chunk missing out of the second drawer and both sides/ends have splits. The top also has a split. It has an old refinish. The brasses are gorgeous and ARE 18th century, though may not original to this piece. There is evidence that there has been another type of hardware on the chest in the past. The back-plates on the brasses all match but three of the bails are different from the rest. There is also one keyhole ... moreescutcheon that does not match. The rest are original. When we got it there was a bag with three other keyhole escutcheons that match the replaced one on the chest. These were typically made of pine or popular. The drawers have a yellow pine the outside I can not say it has a darker color to it. Popular. The piece has been refinished. The particular Thumb moulded edge on the top. Is a type typically associated with New York chests of drawers of this period. White and yellow pine secondary woods. Very nice early Chippendale chest of drawers. Retaining the original deep overhang, and original feet, with all original blocking and supports. The base and feet on this chest are 100% untouched. 4 graduated drawers with dovetailed cases. And hand planed& chamfered bottoms. Poplar drawer box, with a pine drawer bottom. Thin board drawer construction, and fine dovetails is generally consistent with city production. Replaced brasses. And 2 replaced drawer slides. Chest is refinished in the ... morepast 25 years. Minor crock beading loss and repairs, and Lock break outs. Retains 3 of the 4 original locks. Excellent condition over all. For a chest of this age.
