Looks very early possibly 1700's era from New England determine the age for yourself but is definitely very old. You don't find old original pieces like ... morethis very often. Came out of an estate where it had been well cared for and stored properly in dry storage. Appears to be all hand built with dovetailed joints and very old hardware. Possibly the original stain showing nicely aged patina. Latch is not working looks to be missing a piece on it so it is not working. There are a couple age cracks in the bottom of the chest which is to be expected from the age of this piece. It is 17" long 13" high and 11" deep still in solid condition. Rare find and the only one I've ever had like this, thanks for looking!

This pretty little chest of drawers is SO SWEET! Ive painted it in a creamy white with soft pink drawers! I then hand painted my roses on the corners ... moreof each drawer. And to top of the transformation I added a brand new vintage looking GLASS KNOB! This is a nice sized piece perfect for a table top or dresser. Would be lovely in any room in your home and completely functional! It stands 14" tall. By 13" wide and 6" deep. I believe this is a hand made piece! Its nice and weighty and I will do my best to keep shipping low! I will probably ship this fedex which is not an option on my pull down list so the shipping is just an estimate if it were shipped USPS. I will find the cheapest way to ship and then send the invoice after I get your zip code!

18th Century Williamsburg Virginia Chippendale Chest of Drawers"John Selden" Search Ok. We do not have the credentials to fully attribute this beautiful chippendale mahogany(maybe walnut) chest of drawers with pine secondary woods to John Selden from Norfolk, VA. Our Williamsburg/John Selden attribution comes from viewing similar chests on the internet. This piece was purchased from a Norfolk, VA. estate. Please view the link provided for more information. And, you can use google to find similar pieces attributed to John Selden for sale at a gallery in PA for over $30K. To find the one at the PA gallery.you'll need to type"John Seldon chest of drawers"the spelling is wrong at that site. This link shows the bottom of the clothes press and the similarities in our chest. Mostly original. The finish was probably done sometime ... moreago. The bail handle pulls appear to be original with the exception of the one replaced rosette. The pull on top drawer left side looks to have been moved a fraction of an inch. Also. It's identical to the other pulls but it looks a little smaller than the others, so it might be a replacement. Full dustboards(we realize full dustboards is more of an English feature but if you research this link you'll find that John Selden used full dustboards as well) and they are undoubtly a Virginia feature, Norfolk, Petersburg, Williamsburg. Another site that actually shows a chest that was on display at the Governor's Palace in Williamsburg. It shows the full dustboards as well. http:gatesantiques.com/archives/1266 In the below link you can find information about John Selden being commissioned to refurnish the Governor's Palace in Williamsburg. http:www.archive.org/stream/journalofearlyso1811992muse/journalofearlyso1811992muse_djvu.txt Beautiful handmade square head and rose head nails throughout the chest. 18th C. Antique Chest, Vibrant 19th C. Grain Paint, Orig. Hardware, Unrestored
This is an 18th C. chest that was intricately grain painted in the early to mid 19th C. The grain painted hardware. And almost all of the fasteners, appear to be original to the chest. The chest is 47"W, 23.5"D, 17"H(not counting the casters) and perhaps 100 lbs. The chest is functional and extremely solid with grain painted metal corners and edges. However, it is ~230+ years old and there are condition issues. The right hinge has been repaired with a modern bolt. Also, there is a ~2" area of the left rear top that has been weakened by the open till door and potential water exposure. Surprisingly, there is very little movement, or play, in the hinges. The original feet are missing and very old casters are in their place. There are areas of missing paint, particularly the left top. Please see the pictures, and request others ... moreif you would like to see more detail. If desired, each of these condition issues(including the missing paint) could be resolved by a skilled furniture restorer. Others may enjoy the chest as it is. American Queen Anne Oak Chest of Drawers Circa 1720
American Queen Anne Oak Chest of Drawers Circa 1720 Description: An early 18th century American Queen Anne oak chest of drawers. Circa 1720. The chest features an old(possibly original) finish with gorgeous patina, quarter round molding, and panelled sides. It has Queen Anne period brasses though it may have originally had William and Mary style drop pulls. The bracket feet are original. The carcass is cedar and pine. Drawers are white oak. We think this is probably from the mid-Atlantic states, possibly Virginia. It is 37 1/2" wide by 21" deep by 36 1/2" high. Condition: Very good overall. The biggest issue is replaced pulls and backplates on the bottom drawer. All locks are intact though the chest does not have a key. There is a small chunk of wood missing on the rail over the second drawer down. Probably from someone breaking ... moreinto a locked drawer. There are a couple of repairs to the drawer bottoms due to wood shrinkage. The back boards are all original. One of the top boards. Toward the back, has probably been replaced. It looks like a very early and well done repair. Guaranteed to be as described. A note to our international buyers: We welcome international buyers but please be aware that any and all import duties. Antique 18th Century English George II Mahogany Tall Chest of Drawers c. 1750
This listing is for an 18th Century English George II Tall Case Chest of Two over Four Drawers. Featuring original Queen Anne period brass hardware and all original locks, circa 1740-50. It is a beautiful piece with a simple form so successful commercially that it was copied in bedroom furniture for nearly 300 years, the same form being used in case pieces today. It is of outstanding craftsmanship being formed almost entirely of solid Cuban Mahogany, today a rare and restricted wood of incredible cost, known for it's dark and dense grain formations. A carved crown molding wraps around the front and sides. Repaired in numerous areas along, completing the smooth finished top of the case. The sides of the case are two boards that blind-dovetail at the top and through-dovetail at the bottom. The face of the case features two smaller drawers ... moreover four graduated larger drawers, each with full molded lips of the solid and fully original brass Queen Anne brass hardware, an original lock on every drawer(except the bottom) with many secured with original hand forged rose head nails and a few screws. Each drawer is hand dovetailed. Uniquely with graduating dovetails- the top two drawers have two dovetails, the next drawer down has three dovetails, the third down four dovetails, fourth with five dovetails and the bottom drawer with six. The top two drawers are divided by an upright bar with a half-dovetail joint penetrating the crossbar. Each drawer is divided with full dust board divisions, mahogany along the face, pine secondary woods making up the rest of the dust board. The dust board is primarily an English invention, found only infrequently on American case pieces, and conveniently protects clothing and items in drawers below from being dirtied by the drawer action. The back of the case is made up of one original board and the rest replaced. All re-secured with newer nails- a label inside on one of the replaced boards refers to a furniture depository in England. The case rests over four bracket feet, one rebuilt,
American Pennsylvania Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers c1779
American Chippendale Painted Antique Blanket Chest of Drawers Pennsylvania. C. 1779 Item# 130002EEP16 This is a well worn and nearly untouched American Pennsylvania Chippendale Blanket Chest over Two Drawers. The interior of the lid covered in a fine woven green textile embroidered lower right"A.M.M. 1779" Likewise, the bottom of the inside of the chest bears the very faint initials and date"A M M 1779" these difficult to capture accurately with the camera and hard to see also with the eye. The underside of the lid of the till is inscribed in pencil"Hannah Britton" in a script that would suggest a somewhat early inscription by someone who owned the chest at one point. Crafted entirely of tulip poplar. Each surface of the case is crafted of a single solid unjoined board painted with a heavily oxidized brown streaked ... morepaint. The dovetails that join the case stretch from the top to the bottom of each toe, the feet becoming an integral part of the form, these well preserved and fully original. The molding around the lid, the midsection and the base are applied in the same manner, each with tiny wooden pins hammered through at regular intervals. The pair of drawers both bear pairs of replaced hardware, these inserted into the same original holes, both locks appearing to be fully original. The drawer frame is dovetailed front and back, the bottom heavily chamfered into rabbets on either side and nailed at the back in the typical manner. The interior of the chest has a later stain. This chest has a leather around the sides. Back and top. the front is wood with painting and gilt. When the chest is opened, it reveals a wonderful painted design throughout the interior. There are 3 drawers: 2 small and one long drawer. The chest retains ... moreit's original hardware. It measures 24" long x 12 1/4" wide x 13" tall. 17th century Spanish Colonial Tooled Leather Coffer Trunk Chest
This stunning 17th century tooled leather Spanish Colonial coffer retains its original hardware and patterned linen lining. The mark of an old cattle brand is clearly visible in the leather on the back of the trunk. it would be great to find a way to trace this brand to the hacienda from which the herd came. The carved claw feet belong to the trunk but are two separate pieces, and serve to keep the trunk up off the floor. While very old, they may have been made for the chest sometime after its completion. Many of the hand forged nails remain but some are missing. The leather is missing in the upper right front corner of the trunk. As can be seen in the first photo, above. Piece is very sturdy and condition overall is excellent. No odors. Dimensions are 34"x 15" x 19" without feet. As with all of my auctions. Antique Italian Cassone Wedding Chest from 15th - 18th century
This is an Italian cassone. Also known as an Italian Wedding Chest. Age: somewhere between the 15th and 18th century? Material: apparently this is walnut. It was acquired by George Grey Barnard, famous for collecting medieval artifacts. He acquired it in Italy near the turn of 1900 while he was collecting the original medieval artifacts that made up the first Cloisters Museum. That collection was later sold to the NY Metropolitan Museum and became the foundation of what is now the Cloisters at the Met. This chest was used in his house then later passed down through the family to us, his great grand children. It measures 58" long x 19" wide x 21" high. NOTE: Will deliver personally if within reasonable distance(perhaps within several hundred miles of the Boston area)

FOUR PANEL PILGRIM CENTURY OAK CHEST WITH GREAT IRON HARDWARE & ORIGINAL FINISH
LATE 17th CENTURY AMERICAN PILGRIM CENTURY OAK CHEST With our compliments we are pleased to offer you this large robust estate fresh late 17th Century to very early 18th Century oak raised paneled Pilgrim Century South Shore Massachusetts chest with finely blacksmithed iron hardware. This is a very large chest measuring approximately 50" or larger) long. We are sorry but we are playing catch up on the loads coming in on us. We will revise this in the next day or two as we post more items coming into our Massachusetts and now Bethlehem. Pa. facilities. This fine chest has a slight and gracefully dommed top. Over the years it has accumulated a few amatuer repairs of some nails and screws. These matters will be corrected quickly. There is also a curious approximately 5" cut taken the very top of the chest where it meets the lid. We ... morehave no idea why this was done as it does not by pass a stuck lock or something effecting its use. We will be assessing having our woodworker intall a splice or leaving it alone. As soon as all our principles are back into shop we will make that decision. What we do know is this is a fantasic thick oak chest employing fine cabinet making techiques for the period and it is most assuredly American and not English. This chest represents approximately 150 pounds of oak and is a stunning piece of early Massachusetts history. Please check back with us as this will be a big week with some super items to present to you. English Oak Carved Chest - Believed to be Genuine Tudor Period - 16th Century
Normal 0 In spite of the damage and some of the alterations and repairs done to this chest. It is a good looking piece ready for display. this is the real deal with the main carcass or case and carvings being hundreds of years old. I have just finished looking at pictures of the Tudor Warship the Mary Rose and noted that the dovetail joints on the chest shown in the pictures are very similar in style and size and spread to the joints on this chest I have for sale; these are not made like modern joints) The chest is about 5' long. 24" from front-to-back when measured at the top of the lid and it is 26" high. I obtained this chest from a man whose father obtained it from a wealthy estate some years ago. the man told me that this chest was"16th Century" Some of what I see confirms that it could be: it was made as an oak ... moreplank chest. Probably with the quarter or rift sawn trim and carved panels depicting upper class individuals- the man wearing a wide fluted collar) there are dovetail joints most noticeable on the back. the boards on the bottom and front and back are wide- in excess of 18" and one of them is 22" wide- I am a professional woodworker and I restore 19th century doors for a living and have never seen wood this wide. The wood on the bottom is split and has a good bit of worm damage( I can make a new wood bottom and set it over the existing if someone wanted to use this for storage; I am open to discussion, I can even cut a piece of ply wood to fit on pickup if the purchaser wishes) all of the wood except the bottom appears to be oak. the bottom appears to be pine. There is quarter sawn oak trim applied to the front and sides of the chest. the trim is applied with dowels- which I have never seen before(though a collector who recently look at this told me that was a common way to apply trim in days before nails) the dowels must have been applied early as the boards have shrank around them leaving a bit of protrusion on the inside. I have recently had a collector dealer look

English Georgian Chippendale Mahogany Chest of Two over Three Drawers Late 18th Century c. 1760-80 Item# 120001LMM01 Crafted of solid mahogany using broad boards to construct the top and sides. Each two board construction with a very thin strip completing the back edge. An applied molded carved rim wraps around the perimeter of the projecting top. Each drawer features full length yellow pine dustboards between each drawer to protect the contents of each drawer from dust and dirt as the drawer moves in and out of the case- these also support each ... moredrawer, allowing for a smooth flowing motion in the case. The chest rests over four large bracket feet, each fully original with original blocking on all but one of the feet. The back is original and untouched. Constructed of four pine boards lined with original hand forged rosehead nails. The secondary pine triangle supporting the back feet dovetails into the feet, making them permanent and incredibly strong. This is a remarkably well preserved chest with originality in almost every facet of the case. It is incredibly dense and heavy. Built to last the test of time- attention was shown in every detail of the construction, allowing this chest to survive and thrive two hundred and fifty years later. It is an outstanding acquisition for any collector of 18th Century English Chippendale and a treasure that will be enjoyed in your home for many generations to come. Antique German Wedding Chest c.1797
This chest was given to my wife by a family friend while in Hohenfels Germany. Who is a an antique dealer there in the town. It made the voyage across the Atlantic to our home in Glendale, AZ. and has sat in our room for the past 8 years. It has all the original hardware. It looks like someone along it's long life attempted to repair it(much to our shigrin) so it takes away from the value a bit. However it is still very beautiful piece of craftsmanship, and is VERY functional. Other chests of a similar make, are selling at double of what we are asking. Buyer must arrange for local pick up or shipping. I will not be responsible for shipment. if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Chippendale 4-drawer Chest - Swamp Maple - Late 1700's
Swamp Maple is a very light maple wood used for American furniture in the late 1700's and early 1800's. It is rare to find such a nice light maple piece this old and in this superb a condition- even though it was used by its owners on a daily basis for more than 200 years(including me growing up) This early American Chippendale style chest sports its original hardware. It may have been refinished before my family purchased it in 1938- receipt indicates that the chest originates from Hartford. CT. Dimensions: 38"W x 18"D x 37" High. You've got to love this beautifully simple example of fine hand-made American furniture making in the 18th Century. Note: Will work with buyer on delivery- either freightquote or UPS- will hand deliver in NY. NJ, PA, CT.
