About the item: Fine quality antique 18th century and later Oak bible box on stand. C 1790. The stand has a single drawer and the box a void interior. It stands on ring turned spreading cylindrical supports with circular feet and is profusely carved to the front,top and sides. The quality of the caring is very good and it has aged beautifully with good colour/patina. There is an age related split to the top and I cannot get the key to turn in the lock,but overall I would say it is in good condition given its age and use. 17th Century Carved Oak Desk Box. A good country example.The front carved in a formal manor with the initials EA under the lockplate and the sides in a light foliate design which is such a contrast to the front but works. The interior with two compartments.The draws unfortunately long gone. I am sure that by now you will know i have an addiction to boxes and this one i thought was so unusual to the norm. A fine Georgian Gothic carved oak bible box c1800. Original hinges and brass lock. Dovetailed and nailed construction. Carved with gothic tracery to front and sides. The top with typical Georgian keystone pattern border. Original brass handles to sides. Beautifully made piece in complete original condition with good colour and patination. Measures 20 1/2" wide x 9" high x 13" deep.

17th Century Carved Oak Bible Box. From the west country area this sweet box has a wonderful deep carved front depicting tulips with bold flowing leaves. The sides are plain with plank top and base. Good colour with replaced period hinges and later lock plate. The sides with similar foliate carvings. The top two plank top with later scratch carved twin line border Standing on later bun feet. 30" wide 19" deep 11.5" high A small loss the the front facing right hand corner. The plank top with scratch moulded front above a frieze carved with lunettes incorporating naive acanthus leaves and foliage to the corner spandrels. The void interior is lined with handwritten leaves from a book. One bearing a date of"November 1828" Condition- minor repair to the front of the plank top as per image 2. Lock plate and hasp are 19th Century replacements(lock does not function) Hinges are 18th Century replacements.
