The advertisement& wood were under a bunch of stuff& wet. Thus too nasty to save. Too bad, too. It was cool. I do not know the exact year of this antique valve. As the ad was unreadable around where a copyright notice would have been. From looking at many examples of other valves& ads. I believe 1892-1904 is about the date range. This is just a SWAG estimate based on all of the information I could find. This valve is nickel(not chrome) plated. The plating has dings& scratches. As the valve was found on the floor& piled upon with stuff& junk. Nickel plated valves were often used in bathrooms to match the(then innovative) nickel plated fixtures& drain tubing. The wheel(handle) is a wood composite material. It is dyed. Not painted. The wheel's actually a work of art itself. The disc has a arrow to show the valve shutter's position. Flow direction) The screw is not stuck& the handle comes off. And will be removed for safe shipping. About the composite wheel- In the day. Artisans would make a mold of plaster or green sand. This one was a bit complex, having a recess& some divots for hubs. It's kinda cool. Next they would take fine saw dust& mix it with resorcinol glue. In the day. It was sometimes called'Brazilwood Glue' This mix would get pushed into the mold& allowed to dry. Voila! Instant Knob! Then they would all get sick from the dihydroxybenzene in the glue. Why not just use brass. Since the valve is brass? It would get too hot to grab. Why not plain wood? My guess is the heat would dry it& crack it. Or- Labor to turn. Only a few small hairline cracks on the back next to the nickel plated brass mount, the nickel plating is in great condition also. The Lettering on the handles is excellant. The handles are 3 1/4" across and stand 2" tall. The inside of the mounts are 3/8" square with a tapered hole for a set screw in the shaft. For your consideration are the following vintage faucet/plumbing items: The large gooseneck piece(I think) is some kind of a wall mount maybe with shower or something else. I am not sure if it is nickel or chrome. But I think nickel. As for condition of this piece, I am not sure if all the pieces are there, but I believe what I do have is in pretty good condition for its age. It is hard to measure but the widest points are approximately 20" x 17" It weighs about 7 pounds unpacked. The other piece may go to a kitchen or bathroom sink- again. I am not sure. It measures 9-1/2" x 6-1/2" at its widest points and weighs between three and four pounds. I would have to say it is also in pretty good condition for its age although it is missing the middle handle. Here is a GENUINE and RARE ANTIQUE powdered soap dispenser circa 1910. When I got it. The nickel plating was almost completely worn away and the parts were fused. I had it restored to full working order and re-nickeled. It is now in fabulous MINT condition! It is brass underneath the nickel and the glass is thick and handblown with little air bubbles in it. The piece is marked and dated as follows: CAPHENIN CHEM CO WAVERLY. IOWA PAT MAR. 8- 10 This soap dispenser is wall mounted. It has a hand lever which releases powdered soap. T o refill with soap. T here is a spring and cam mechanism. You hold the glass globe. Pull towards you to disengage the cam and swivel until the globe is upside down. You can see this in photo# 6 where the glass is shown upside down. The glass unscrews from the base and can be filled. I know it sounds complicated ... morein words. But the action is easily done. This is a heavy. Substantial piece- weighing in at about 2 lbs. It would be stunning in a period kitchen or bathroom. It measures approximately 8 1/8 inches wide" center to center rear threaded holes" by 12 1/2 inches deep by about 5 1/2 inches tall. It appears to be a fairly unique configuration. I believe that this was originally on a porcelain Kitchen sink, although I am not 100% certain. We did not attempt to clean or polish the faucet and it is fairly dirty. I does show some expected signs of wear from age and use. The handles hot& cold handles turn nicely. Vintage Art Deco 1946-1948 Stratmore Solid Brass Nickel Faucet RARE Modern Retro
Up for auction is a vintage Stratmore Art Deco faucet that dates from circa 1946-1948. So just at the very end of the Art Deco era. I believe it to be this timeframe based on the patents that I was able to find online. Based on the extremely limited amount of information available on this faucet, as well as no comparable fixtures to be found online, I believe this to be a fairly rare piece. Given that this was also at the end of the Art Deco era, I'm guessing that relatively few of these were ever produced. The reason that I'm thinking this dates from 1946-1948 is based on the patent application date and the date it was granted. The front of this faucet shows'PAT. PENDING' which would indicate that it was made in that timeframe. From what I'm told, this was in use up until 1948 or 1949 in my grandmother's house. Since ... morethen, it has been sitting in a dark, dry locked room in her basement. However, now that we're tasked with closing out her estate, it can once again be enjoyed by someone! It's a very cool design, everything is a right angle except for the nozzle and the wall plates. The soap dish lifts out of the faucet itself. Each of the valves are marked with an Art Deco H or C(see pictures! There really are only two tiny flaws that I found with this piece- the nozzle has plier marks and as seen in the last picture, one of the corners by a valve has a tiny nick in the metal. Otherwise, a very unique faucet, extremely rare, and one that really shows the true design style of the Art Deco era. Shipping will be FedEx Ground or Home Delivery, cost depends on location. Up for auction is this vintage nickel-brass waste pipe and support for the old claw-foot bath tubs. Pipe and knob is a total of 24-inches high. This pipe has the support that goes into the overflow hole of the tub. And keeps the waste pipe upright. Very seldom do you see the support for one of these pipes. Antique vintage nickel brass toilet paper holder complete wooden roller & screws
This was still hanging in our 1897 farmhouse when we bought it 2 years ago. As found condition with good shine to the black painted roller. The nickel/brass roller end cap, and the roller holder. There are a couple tiny original green paint spots on the upper left end of the wall bracket, and white paint on the bracket, roller end cap and roll bar. I know the green is the original color because the claw foot tub in this bath was originally painted this color green with the white over it. The wall bracket and top of the roller holder have discoloration from age, but give the appearance that they could clean to a shine as well. The end cap was designed to be held to the wooden roller with a tiny tack that kept the roller in place while changing the roll. If re-tacked together the cap will fit perfectly on the end. In very small letters inside ... morean oval on the bracket are the letters"SMCo" with the o inside the C. Screws included are the ones by which it hung. US shipping only.
