Antique Dark Oak Bed and Dresser
I do not buy antiques for their monetary value. I buy pieces because I like them. Therefore. I really do not know details on my items(sorry, I know it makes it more difficult for others to buy them) I believe these are oak and I believe they are from the 1800s. You are buying the bed frame and dresser(not mattress and box springs) The frame for this bed is full size. As pictured, I use a metal converter frame to make it queen size(you can see that my mattress sticks out a bit from the frame) Headboard is 6 feet high. Dresser measures 42" wide. 20" deep and 78" tall. They are in a smoke-free and pet-free home. I think they are in very good condition. Any damage I have found is listed above. 1680`s ? baroque ornately carved 4 poster canopy bed Italian wedding Hapsburg
Bought this at a large antique show in Florida about 25 years ago.out of a Miami Beach estate. Was told it was from the 1680`s with the rails having been lengthened in the 1800`s. From their research it had a Hapsburg crest on the footboard and a nobleman`s crest on the headboard. Called an Italian wedding bed but would have been used in a summer place rather than the main castle/estate. Each post has a different agricultural product/leaf/vine.one is grapes. One oak leaves and not sure what the other 2 are. Has a custom mattress and very thin box spring/ sub support. It`s a tad too short to use a queen mattress. I had it set up strictly as a showpiece and used occasionally to meditate on when it had a fabric top gathered in the center. It includes custom velvet spread and 2 pillow shams.

Here is a very old antique bed. I don't know much about this bed. Except my mother bought it from an elderly English couple in the eary 60's. They said they brought it over from England. I'm not sure about the age or material. I'm guessing it's over a hundred years old. And I was told it's mahogany, but I can't be sure. Dimentions are; Headboard height. 90 inches, footboard height, 33inches. bedframe, 77 inches long, 60 inches wide. Footboard was broken off. And was repaired by screwing on a piece of plywood on back, as you can see from photo. Otherwise in good condition considering its age. Bed is being advertised locally. So auction may end early. THE RESTORATION PROJECT BEGINS In 2006. I started my search for a special and unique Antique or Vintage ¾ brass bed. Bigger than a twin and less than a standard size. In 10/2007 this bed was purchased with the brass spray painted gold and the iron main frame required a new powder coating. Inside the iron we found part of a newspaper page in Dutch. Photographs were sent to a professional brass bed restorer in Canton Connecticut and his bid is summarized. As follows: Restoration Fee: $13.650.00. Includes custom iron supports for mattress/box spring. Powder coating the iron, polish then lacquer or clear coat the brass, replace missing finials, and disassemble/ reassemble and a custom shipping crate. As a professional antique appraiser and restorer. His normal appraisal fee was $300 for a certified letter on his letterhead. Restored bed ... morevalue- $15.000 to $18,000. Wow. His cost to restore the bed and the value of the restored bed led me to develop a plan for local restoration. RESTORER PROVIDED A VALUABLE HISTORY OF THIS BED Circa 1900. A customer would order a bed from the cheapest strip down model to a bed with every embellishment available. This bed has the extras! 4 decorative ropes of roses 4 urns with ram head handles 6 wreaths with French bows 3 beaded circles on the foot stand IRON& FRENCH BRASS BED ¾ SIZE- RESTORED More about the restoration: Support rails for the mattress/box spring forged by a local iron worker. The iron bed stand portion professionally sandblasted and powder coated. Brass embellishments were professionally polished and lacquered by Noles Davis of Dallas Texas. Brass finials(20) had modern octagonal nuts that were replaced with the proper round ones drilled and tapped to 1/4– 20. Vintage brass headboard. All brass construction. Nice. Complex, fancy design. 80" wide and 4' at highest point. Good solid condition. All fittings( and there a lot) are tight. No cracks, gouges, dents, missing pieces, or other visible damage. Not clearcoated. Nice tarnishe, weathered, even overall aged patina. Both sides display the same. A couple of small wall paint scuff marks that should wipe off easily. Some rust bleeding from fitting joints. Probably steel for strength. Does not detract from the visual. Nice fancy headboard to reuse as bed or repurpose as garden art, wall hanging or? This is being sold as Local Pickup only. I am in Los Angeles. If you have a shipper, I will work with them.
