The bed is pretty sturdy and the hitches fit nice and tight. All you see is what is included. There are no supportive slats. The bed measures roughly 54 inches wide and 80 inches long. The frame size is about 54x76 inches(mattress space) The headboard is about 6.4 inches tall and the footboard is about 40 inches tall. The paint is chipped all over which gives it a great look. But if it is going in a childs room, we would recommend sandblasting, priming and painting the entire bed. Antique Dark Oak Bed and Dresser
I do not buy antiques for their monetary value. I buy pieces because I like them. Therefore. I really do not know details on my items(sorry, I know it makes it more difficult for others to buy them) I believe these are oak and I believe they are from the 1800s. You are buying the bed frame and dresser(not mattress and box springs) The frame for this bed is full size. As pictured, I use a metal converter frame to make it queen size(you can see that my mattress sticks out a bit from the frame) Headboard is 6 feet high. Dresser measures 42" wide. 20" deep and 78" tall. They are in a smoke-free and pet-free home. I think they are in very good condition. Any damage I have found is listed above. Beautiful antique maple and poplar bed. Rails appear to be chestnut. Finish is nice and there is some nice figure in the wood of some of the panels. Nice carving and pressing in the panels and frame. Some minor wear. The headboard is 68" tall by ~56" wide. Footboard is 30" tall by ~56" wide. The complete bed is about 76" long. Mattress. A normal full size bed is 54 x 75. The inside dimensions of this bed are 72 inches wide, and 78 inches long. It’s too wide to be a queen, which measures 60 x 80. We can make this into a king size bed, which is 80 x 80, for an additional $400. What this entails is putting in a center panel and center brace. Now, about the beds: They are beautiful, with unusual solid oak wreath carving of unblemished oak and berry carved crests on top. They have raised panel fronts, doubles on the headboard, picture frame molded panels on the footboard with picture frame molding underneath, little rosettes carved out of solid oak all through the front and back, and Hepplewhite style block legs. The footboards have diamond point mosaic panel inserted, with carved columns coming down the sides, and with the wreaths and tassels and all those carvings, it’s just a beautiful pair that would make a really nice-looking king bed. The size the way the beds are set up right now is 75.5 inches wide, 39 inches high at the footboard, and 57 inches high on the headboard. It’s finished in a medium oak stain, and the overall condition is great. The beds can also be taken apart to make the unusual sized twin beds, measuring 34 inches wide, by 77 inches long, if desired. I really hope that someone wants this as a king-size bed, because we love doing those up, and we do a great job!
