1680`s ? baroque ornately carved 4 poster canopy bed Italian wedding Hapsburg
Bought this at a large antique show in Florida about 25 years ago.out of a Miami Beach estate. Was told it was from the 1680`s with the rails having been lengthened in the 1800`s. From their research it had a Hapsburg crest on the footboard and a nobleman`s crest on the headboard. Called an Italian wedding bed but would have been used in a summer place rather than the main castle/estate. Each post has a different agricultural product/leaf/vine.one is grapes. One oak leaves and not sure what the other 2 are. Has a custom mattress and very thin box spring/ sub support. It`s a tad too short to use a queen mattress. I had it set up strictly as a showpiece and used occasionally to meditate on when it had a fabric top gathered in the center. It includes custom velvet spread and 2 pillow shams.
