Footboard and original rails in a cherry finish. Head and footboards are carved with a cut and pierced gallery finishing off the top of headboard. Wood is cut and layered on rails to produce the stepped detail on the ends. Bed fits a standard full size mattress 54" x 75" Pictured in bright sunlight and cloud cover. Bed is in overall very good condition. However, there are some signs of age on this 100 plus year old heirloom- there is some separation between the leg and body on the front right of footboard. Footboard is still very solid. There are also two spots on same leg on side where the wood must have been wet a one time as the finish color is lighter. There is also a long crack on the carved gallery on top of headboard and two of the six small gallery supports on back of headboard are missing. Gallery is solid and not loose or in danger of breaking. My guess is this crack has been there for many, many years. There are many small marks and scratches on legs. Many scratches on inside of headboard where hidden by bed. Please see all pics. You are looking at a vintage full size headboard and footboard with acorn/pineapple finials(really don't know which ones they are) It is in okay condition(please look at all of the pictures) It has been stored in an attic for several years. It is made of solid mahogany and was purchased back in the 1950's by my parents as their first full size bedroom set when they were first married. It is made of solid mahogany. It is missing one acorn/pineapple finial. The headboard measures 44 inches high. The footboard measures 38 inches high. Overall width of both pieces is 58 inches. The headboard and footboard are both very solid and heavy. The pieces do show age. But are in quite good condition for its age with no damage as far as using the bed as your own. This is a bed I purchased for my son many years ago. It is well worn but extremely sturdy and stable. The knobs/pegs for the ropes were not on the bed when we purchased it so we modified it to accept a standard double mattress. A piece of sturdy plywood sits on the wooden supports that have been attached to the bed frame. The plywood is not included in this sale. The mattress rests on the full width of the bed to accept a standard double. Using the side rails as additional support. It could be used"as is" or refinished. The bed size is 72 in long by 54 in wide. The headboard is 34.5 in tall and the footboard is 25 in tall. I'm not sure of the type of wood used in the bed. I believe it may be made of several different types. This is for local pick up only. The location is between Richmond. VA and Charlottesville, VA.
