48" brass chain for a plug or a gas fixture. This looks exacly like the shorter plumbing chains I have but it came out of a box of gas fixture parts. No fastener on one end. I see a conneter toward the middle of the chain that has been used to exend it. My husband had a very large collection of Victorian and early 1900's lights and shades which I will gradually be listing. Brass Gas or Water Valve or Spigot with a Good Luck Swastika - Old Plumbing
Old brass gas or water valve. This is not my area of expertise- so please ask questions if I leave off anything you need to know. Measures approximately 4 inches X 2 5/8 inches. Key turns fine. The top part has some rust on a little nail like piece inside that is NOT made of brass- see photo. So. There could be more rust somewhere I can't see inside. I don't know if it has other non brass areas. It has 4 old good luck type swastikas. One on each side of the key and one on each side of the top part. I guess they were wishing good luck on the repair. Lots of photos posted- please look at them. I cannot ship this internationally. This Vintage Brass Spigot has been gently restored. What does gently restored mean? The overall objective is to preserve as much as the old tool or item with a good balance of lifetime patina as possible without the use of power tools. Metal is initially cleaned using mineral oil. After letting the oil“soak in” for a day or so. The item is wiped cleaned. A few items should be noted. The first is this gentle process may not remove all rust or dirt. Etc. as there is always a balance of limiting restoration to not affect patina. The second is that there may be remaining surface pitting. The third is that tools and items are not conditioned for use such as sharpening, tightening or replacement of parts. This is left up to the judgment of the new owner as there is a large range of utilization of older tools. Lastly, the item may have residual ... moreoil left in the cleaning process. This can be wiped off but the item may benefit from an additional application of clear oil to further enhance and stabilize the item for extended life. Neat old antique brass valve. Im not sure if it was meant for gas. Water neither or both. It is very nicely done but has some blackening where the hose attaches and traces of putty in areas. The threads appear to be fine. It measures 2 1/4" in length. The valve opens and closes freely but please do not use until tested.
