The nickel has partly worn away over the years and the brass under it shows through and gives a pleasing old brass color. Made from brass in the early 1900's. Welcome to my listing. You are buying a Bathroom cup holder dish fish sea serpent tarnished cast brass old antique A great old antique tarnished brass soap dish. It is from the age of claw foot tubs and porcelain sinks. The fish decoration adds a nice"whimsy" to the holder. It has achieved a nice color and feel that displays well. The brass is in original condition and has been washed with water. The cup holder over the years has a pleasing old tarnished brass color. I am unsure the exact age of the holder but a good safe guess would be in the early 1900's give or take some years in either dirrection. It doesn't get this tarnished overnight. It is 5 3/4" deep. 6 3/4" high and 3 3/4" wide. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BRASS WALL-MOUNT TOOTHBRUSH & CUP HOLDER - ORIGINAL CONDITION
Up for auction is a ca. 1900 Victorian period solid brass. Wall-mounted toothbrush and cup holder. Please note: This is a period item, it is NOT a reproduction of any kind! This came out of a home in the Garden District in Galveston, Texas. It has the remnants of at least two layers of paint, white and green, so this will need restoration, but there are no structural flaws, damages or repairs. This is an easy restoration, either remove the paint and repaint, or remove the paint and polish the brass. Personally, I would take this down to the brass but I will leave this decision up to the new owner. This measures approximately 3-1/2" wide at it's widest point x 7-1/2" in height with a 5" extension from the wall. The mounting plate is 2-1/4" in diameter and has two(2) drilled mounting holes to attach this to the wall. ... moreThe toothbrush holder will hold five toothbrushes. This is unsigned. I believe, is a faucet mount or could be a wall mount missing bracket. Which ever it my be it is in very good condition with some soap residue but has no cracks, chips or heavy scratches. The bottom dish does drain out the back with the brass bracket designed with an oval shaped hole to allow the water to pass through. Very neat and rare piece. Soap dish has its try or strainer, the cup holder will hold cup with a bottom no larger than 2 1/2" The tooth brush holder will work with the flat handled tooth brushes or the thinner handled modern tooth brushes as shown in the pictures. Has a great verdigris and old brass patina. The bottom tooth brush holder tray is loose and it moves around but it dose not affect its function. This is a very cool nickel brass double cup holder and soap dish. The nickel plating has seen better days. 35-40% of the nickel is worn off. The rest of the nickel has fairly heavy oxidization. The only mak foun in under the soap dish is says pated applied for 1902. This would make a great shower caddy as well it would accept a round shampoo bottle with a 2 5/8"diameter or less. Antique brass toothbrush cup holder - UNIQUE! no reserve!
I bought this years ago(probably 20 or so) from an antique dealer. It is heavy brass(my guess is solid brass) Cup holder on left side and toothbrush holder on right side with 6 slots for 6 toothbrushes. There is some white paint on the back of the circular disc piece that goes against the wall(you'll never see it when it is mounted to the wall) There also appears to be 1 weld repair under the cup. perhaps it was wobbelly. I don't know, no cracks or anything to indicate that the weld was necessary. The weld is small and toward the backside of bottom of the cup holder. Again, when mounted you won't see it. Very vintage nickel? Brass? wall mount bathroom drink / cup holder w/ hook
Nickel or perhaps brass wall mounted cup or drink holder. The finish is pretty worn whatever it originally was. Piece is marked: silver& co. NY" Piece is in fair condition showing some wear I will describe. It looks as though a brass sort of material was plated with silver or nickel and the plating has mostly worn away leaving it a brass or bronze sort of color. The whole thing has a greenish tarnish. It's got a great old look just the way it is or you could clean it thoroughly so the whole piece has a dull brass look. Metal is scuffed and dinged a bit but overall pretty nice. Piece will need to be thoroughly polished when buyer receives it. Piece is being sold as-is. So take a good look at the photos.
