This is a very rare and ornate piece which was used to plug the drain hole in a sink back before the days of the built-in stoppers. These would usually have a nice chain attached to the ring located on the top so it would remain by the sink and not get lost. Please be sure to see the other vintage and antique items we have listed. FEATURES: This rare antique sink drain stopper is probably from the late 1800's or early 1900's. The stopper has a very ornately carved top. It's green patina adds highlights to the carvings making it a very eye-catching piece. It is a very heavy piece. There are a few small chips in the enamel as well, the largest is shown with a dime for reference. There is also a very faint rust-colored stain on the floor of the tub. This recent estate sale find would look great on display inside or out in the garden. It is a unique and rare piece of stoneware. Enameled tin, and cast iron and is in great shape for being 100 years old. The last picture is an ad from 1913 showing this fountain. The crock has inch and a half walls and it is attached securely to the base.It is inside of a tin protective casing with enamel paint. There is some paint loss and some warping of the metal but nothing to bad. No major dents. The lid is rusty on the top, some rust on the base as well. The Kennedey valve opens and shuts easily. It is ready to go on the wall if you like it a little more vintage looking, or you can have it re-plated and it will look brand new.
