Very Rare Ax Axe Celt Mold Forging Copper Bronze ~ Arrowhead Collection ~
I got this in recently as part of a collection. It is obviously a well used old mold for casting celt/small axes in. You can see pry spots from loosening the metal and the end is chipped from tapping them out. Material is pottery clay and has heat fracture line in it just as you would expect to see. I listed this as being part of the North American Copper Culture and several people jumped me for trying to pass off this South American item as North American. From what I am told the Nothern Indians never smelted copper but just hammered out tools from the natural nuggets. The southern indians learned smelting from the Spanish that came through. Regardless of its origin. It is very neat and rare for any metal artifact collection. I have zero doubts about what it was used for or that it is ancient. I have showed it to 2 different professional ... moremetal workers and they both agreed 100% as to my thoughts on it. Since 4 copper collectors in the USA have told me this was Peruvian. Then I can be fairly sure they are right. I am listing many other Indian Artifacts and will gladly combine your purchases. But you MUST ask for an invoice before paying for them. CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL MY(this will show you all of them. Modern. Ancient and African etc. You can search in my store for key words like"Texas Arrowhead" to see only those items) I offer a 60 day return on all Arrowhead related items. If I make a mistake in a listing I will pay for shipping both ways!
